View Full Version : Guess our record after the all star break

What do you guys think our record will be after this all star break? We have 28 games to go.

Looking at our schedule, it looks as if we have a lot of games coming up that I think are very winnable.

I'm going to post the schedule and put either Win or Loss after each game, then add up the score. If you want to do it in this format, that would be nice.

Tue 22 @ Washington Win
Wed 23 vs Detroit Win
Fri 25 vs Utah Loss
Sun 27 vs Phoenix Loss
March
Tue 01 vs Golden State Win
Wed 02 @ Oklahoma City Loss
Fri 04 @ Dallas Loss
Sat 05 @ Houston Win
Tue 08 vs Philadelphia Win
Wed 09 @ Minnesota Win
Fri 11 @ Toronto Win
Sun 13 @ New York Loss
Tue 15 vs New York Win
Wed 16 @ Boston Win
Fri 18 vs Chicago Loss
Sat 19 @ Memphis Win
Mon 21 @ New Jersey Win
Wed 23 @ Charlotte Win
Fri 25 vs Sacramento Win
Sat 26 @ Detroit Win
Mon 28 vs Boston Loss
Wed 30 vs Detroit Win
April
Fri 01 vs Milwaukee Loss
Sun 03 @ New Orleans Loss
Wed 06 vs Washington Loss
Fri 08 vs Atlanta Loss
Sun 10 vs New York Win
Wed 13 @ Orlando Win

So the way I have predicted, we would be 17-11 our last 28 games which would put us at 41-41 on the season. I would say that would be a good end to our season, but i'm OBVIOUSLY being optimistic.

Before we played Detriot, I would have been confident in saying we would go 17-11 and end up at .500 for the season. Hopefully they can put that game behind them and play their smashmouth game again.

Let's see. A loss at home to either the Suns or Jazz at home in Feb but probably not both. A loss to OKC, Dallas, Boston and New York on the road in March. That's 4 more losses. If Melo goes to NY, we could lose to NY at home, as well as Boston and Chicago. Three more losses. In April we have Orlando on the road with New Orleans as a possible road loss as well. Two more losses. And we have the Knicks and Hawks at home. Potentially 2 more losses.

We also might lose to the Bobcats on the road, but this leaves 16 games that we should win. However, an important consideration is that some of these winnable games are on the 2nd night of back-to-backs where the first game is a tough one against a physical opponent.

So I think it's likely that we go .500 the rest of the way, losing 2 games that we might otherwise hope to win. We won't fall further below .500; the last playoff spot will likely go to us b/c we have less in the loss column right now than a few other teams, and they would need to play over .500 ball to beat us out.

However, another important consideration is whether we catch Atlanta, NY or Orlando when they have their seeds locked up and have started resting players. Orlando may have their fates decided, but maybe not one of the other teams. Will go on record for 15-13.

17-11, 41 wins. .500 would be fine with me. pacers just have to win games.

I predicted 41-41 at the beginning of the year, so I'm gonna stick with that and say we go 17-11.

16-12, final record 40-42, playing Boston in first round of the playoffs as 8th seed.

The Pacers will end up 18-10 during their last 28 games and with a 42-40 record for the season. That should be good enough for 8th in the East playoffs.

I see the above as worst case scenario, BTW. I hope we do better but I am managing my expectations.

The team ended on a bad note before the break. I know Frank has these guys pumped up, but the team has always had such a fragile mentality, I am kinda nervous. Really I am mostly nervous Danny Granger, Mike Dunleavy and Roy. The rest of the team, not so much, but the rest of the team is also not playing the key roles of leaders. When those 3 guys are in a losing mentality it is very hard for us to win against anyone.

12-16 :borg:

Alot of this is playing out how you guys have predicted. I think they get another loss against Dallas, then hopefully, if their confidence isn't completely crushed, they can go on a nice win streak. Philly is going to be a really hard game to win. That will be a real test to see where their mentality is at.

I'm sticking with my initial prediction.

joeyd

Even with Houston playing reasonably well, I think we have a good chance at a win providing we are not all used up from OKC and Dallas.

Interesting the next 3 games.

0-3 I'm really discouraged.

1-2 Still somewhat hopeful

2-1 I feel really really good about this team

I honestly could see them going 1-11 over the next 12 and the season being lost.

I honestly could see them going 1-11 over the next 12 and the season being lost.

We will know if the season is lost if they do worse than 3-3 over the next 6 games. In that stretch they play Philly (at home), Minnesota and Toronto on the road, but all games that they should win, at least the latter 2.

The rest of the season looks pretty ugly (schedule wise)

I feel optimistic that we can pull out some surprise wins to sprinkle in with the "should win" games (we have done a very nice job against sub .500 teams)

While I want to say we can somehow win 6 more then we lose (and ultimately end at .500 for the season) but I don't think thats very realistic. Something like 12-10 over our last 22 seems like the most realistic.

That would put us at 39-43

Last bump things were playing out like alot of you expected...

Now, the wheels have fallen off the wagon. My incredibly pessimistic prediction (at the time) looks like a sunshiner made it.

Have you guys ever seen such an epic collapse in the the most important part of the season? Our schedule coming up is so brutal, it is going to take some incredibly inspiring play for them to make the playoffs. That or some horribly play from the bottom of the Eastern conference.

This reminds me a little bit of the 2002-2003 season. What was our record after the all-star break?

It couldn't have been pretty. We were good enough for Isiah to coach in the all-Star game, but I know we didn't even win 50 games that season.
