The much-anticipated kickoff of the 2004 season begins tonight at 9pm EST (8pm Indiana time) on ABC. The weather conditions should be soggy at best, and will most certainly effect the game. Let's hope Edgerrin and Dominic love to run in the mud.

There's still time to sign up and make your NFL picks for tonight's game as well for the rest of Week One. See the Pick thread in the Colts forum for details. End of plug.

Colts Injury report (as of yesterday): Running back James Mungro (wrist, out), linebacker Gilbert Gardner (ankle, out), cornerback Joseph Jefferson (knee, out), safety Bob Sanders (foot, out), wide receiver Troy Walters (upper arm fracture, out), Bird (concussion, questionable), wide receiver Brad Pyatt (thigh, questionable). wide receiver Aaron Moorehead (ankle, probable) and cornerback Donald Strickland (hip and shoulder, probable).

We're the baby colts, though i think we have a few more defensive weapons to build on. Dre Bly and Shaun Rogers are pro-bowlers, and boss bailey will get there if he ever stays healthy. We just need depth.

Still, we have a lot of young offensive studs, we'll score a lot of points, but we'll also give up a lot too.

Harrington, Rogers and Jones are drawing a lot of comparisons to Manning, James and Harrison, plus we have Roy Williams as a blue chip #2 WR. Basically, our whole offense has 2 years or less experience.

I'm seeing 8-8 to 7-9 this year, only because we're so ridiculously young.

Well, the thing is, the Lions, no matter how bad they are, always win on thanksgiving. And we're usually playing a good team, too. It really should be illigal, the other team NEVER wants to play that day, our team comes out fired up for national TV, and it turns into a butt-kicking......

Some will blame Peyton's new contract, buut we grossly overpaid Josh Williams...

Natston

I also need to reiterate, this isnt all the secondary's fault. If you cant pressure the QB AT ALL, you can have 4 all-pros in the backfield and still give up completions.

Well half the time it seems someone has a hand in Brady's face, but just can't get there. Let's face it, the whole D leaves something to be desired.

And the fact our DB's will play 8-10 yards off their man on 3rd and short...

indytoad
09-09-2004, 11:19 PM
Heh, the Colts are like the Mavericks of the NFL. All offense, no D. They'll never go anywhere this way. Although against the Pats they really don't have either.

One thing I've found amusing about the Colts is this: Anytime they break down the pocket and the QB scrambles, he ALWAYS converts. ALWAYS.

Also interesing how they can tear down the field and then turn it over in the last 15 yeards. I think Bellicheck is just screwing with Payton. He could take the game away from him whenever he wants, I think.
