View Full Version : Are the Indiana Pacers Moving to San Jose

There have been rumors that if Pacers keep losing money, like they have been this season, that the team will indeed leave Indiana. San Jose has been rumored to be one of the cities that the pacers might move to. I live in San Jose and to be honest It would nice to get a NBA team here. But if this indeed happens (I'm pretty sure it won't) Would it be a good move for the Pacers organization to move to San Jose?

We'll ship O'Brien to San Jose. The rest of the franchise is staying HERE.

To the topic, I think we had a thread on here recently about the team not being as bad off financially as we first thought. Someone help me out on this one, I didn't actually read that thread...

We haven't heard any rumors of the Pacers moving, and no offense to San Jose, but I don't see them being on top of the list for an NBA team. Vegas is the hot rumor for any team that *could* move. I would think Seattle wants a team back, but I don't know. But if either place gets a team, it likely won't come from Indiana.

Yep. They are moving. Karma is totally pissed at the city for Indianapolis for hijacking the Colts from Baltimore in the middle of the night on Mayflower trucks. At the end of the season, the Pacers are just going to pack up and head west to San Jose. Sucks for us, but what can you do? Karma is a *****.

San Jose officials got to see the recent road swing and changed their mind. They'll wait on a different team...

Upon hearing that news an NBA fan in San Jose was heard to say "This is all Jim O'Brien's fault!"

Not that there's any evidence to support this notion, but I have a hard time believing the Bay Area could support three NBA teams. If anyone moves to San Jose, it'll be the Kings.

If the Pacers moved to San Jose, I would be perfectly cool with that.

I wouldn't really count the Kings as a Bay Area team.

Just to give some perspective....Sacramento is about 120 miles away from the SF Bay Area.

I wouldn't mind if they worked out a half year rental this season.

Isn't San Jose about 2 hours as well? I have family in Cupertino, and last time I visited it took us almost 2 hours to get to SF.

I doubt we'll see an NBA that doesn't have a pro franchise in Indiana.

It only takes about 1 hour to drive there ( up to 2 hours in rush hour traffic )...it's south of SF. :)

Theres a new 3 year deal $15 Mil per year that has been made with the city CIB (who runs Conseco) to keep the Pacers here, correct me if I'm wrong.. I don't see the pacers leaving.

No, the Pacers aren't going to San Jose or anywhere else for the time being. The CIB is giving the Simons another 33.5 million to promise that he won't break the lease he is already legally obligated to fulfill (or else pay a termination fee well in excess of 100 million). Remember, this is Indy you're talking about. There's no limit to how much Indy will fleece it's taxpayers in order to placate it's billionaire sports owners.
