The Indiana Pacers' starting power forward spot is Tyler Hansbrough's to lose.

Hansbrough, however, doesn't want to look at it that way.

He is keeping his strictly-business mentality and plans to continue playing like he has something to prove.

"That's the way you have to think about things," Hansbrough said. "I've got to keep working. I'm going to go out there and play my game and see where things go from there."

Hansbrough's second start of the season against the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday night did not go as smoothly as his breakout game the night before against San Antonio.

Hansbrough had 10 points and five rebounds in 23 minutes against the Hawks.

He knows he'll have ups and downs considering he has played only a handful of NBA games.

Hansbrough missed most of last season with vertigo and a shin problem. He waited his turn to play this season because coach Jim O'Brien gave the majority of the minutes at power forward to Josh McRoberts and James Posey.

"It was tough, but for me, I was always feeling like Josh had been playing good and I was trying to earn my minutes in practice by doing it the right way," Hansbrough said. "The hard part was because I'm a competitor and I want to be out there on the court, but I understood."

O'Brien said Saturday he plans to have at least one of their power forwards on the inactive list every game.

Hansbrough offered a glimpse of his potential when he had 23 points and 12 rebounds against the Spurs.

"It built my confidence up because I was starting, I got off to a good start and I played a significant part in the game," he said. "Going against them definitely was a positive for going forward in the future."

I hope he continues to play well.
