Yeah, I've been hearing some talk about this as well. I haven't lost much sleep worrying about the Heat, but if Shaq is really motivated, they suddenly become a team to worry about.

Of course, having small kids, I don't get much sleep as it is, so I still won't lose much sleep over them - but I might worry!

I saw a picture of him at the VMAs and he still looked fat.

I completely disagree.

A couple months ago ESPN Classic replayed game 4 of the 2000 Finals. I watched Shaq and thought, "good thing he's put on so much weight since then." The pictures I've seen of him make it look like he's slimmer than he was then! Now, he's gotten older, and injuries have taken some toll on him, so I don't expect him to go back to the days where he could get 40 and 20 without breaking a sweat. However, we've been saying for years that it's a good thing he doesn't take working out seriously. I'm sorry to say it appears those days are over.

I think he was really frustrated with the situation in LA the past couple years, and that's why he wasnt that motivated.

Now he wants to show the Lakers up, I think we should watch out.

This is why I listed Miami as one of the five best front courts.

If you haven't seen this coming, it can only be because you've buried your head in the sand.

Riley wasn't going to give up Brian, Lamar and the other guy for the fat, lazy version of Shaq.

This is good, more competition for the pacers. We don't want to be handed the title do we?

Shaq getting in shape has to scare every EC team - but the Heat still have no bench. Riley needs to figure a way to get some depth.

I think the heat would be fine with the team they have, but trading Eddie Jones for some size wouldn't hurt. Them, Indy, Detroit, Spurs, and a few western teams I'm failing to think of right now because I'm blanking out here have about an equal chance as a championship.

I don't see Miami going too far in the playoffs, but they would still be a scary opponent in the second round, where they could really pull an upset.

I think Miami will come out strong but peter out as the season winds down. Whether they make the playoffs or not depends on Shaq, Jones AND Wade staying healthy virtually the entire season.

I went to the LSU Oregon State football game on Saturday. Shaq was there and from my seats (lower student section), he looked thinned down and in great shape. I hate to say it but I'm worried how he's going to kill the east this year.

On a side note, that game was a sham. No game should be decided by two missed extra points.

I said the night of the forum party that we were screwed. I had hoped we would do something, anything to improve our frontcourt to start to counter Shaq.

We have done nothing other than add a rookie that will not be ready to play early on.

We can only hope now that our outside shooting improves to the point where we have a shooters chance to win.

A 7 game series vs. Shaq is not going to be pretty for us.

It's a long hot summer, and he gets bored. Lots of good places to eat in Miami. ;)

There were until yesterday - he tries to get a bite right now he may be disappointed ...

The Heat should make the ECF, because of the way that the finals are setup for next season. I dont see them getting past Pacers or Pistons tho...

I'm looking forward to seeing Wade next season, so many memories of him looking so tentative in the Olympics, it will be interesting to see how the Miami chemisty goes...

I was watching the LSU, Oregon State game on ESPN and they interviewed Shaq. He definetly looked in great shape. The interviewer tried to get him to discuss his weight loss, but Shaq wouldn't go there.

Oregon State actually missed 3 extra points to lose that game:mad:. The dude hits a 40 yard field goal right down the middle and misses 3 extra points. Being a Beaver fan ;) and all, this game had to be one of the toughest losses they've had... and there's been a ton to choose from.

It would take more than 24 pounds off that frame to look "great".
