Oh yeah, and I hope that DC plays. I really, really, hope he can play.

I haven't seen anything in regards to Dunleavy (Pacers haven't updated their game notes for tonight). But Collison is out according to Wells:

On second thought, the Pacers will hold Collison (ankle) out for one more game. Ford will continue to start.

vnzla81

They keep talking about Roy TO's, stop using him as the shot creator and his TO's would go down, he is a center not a freaking point guard.

Great to see Roy turn it on after a rough first few minutes to start. Don't see the Pacers winning tonight but it's important that Danny and Roy keep gaining confidence, get ready to make some real pushes when DC gets back.

tj ford's curse

the difference is Granger passed it to a 7'2 center a foot from the hoop, whereas TJ passed it to an awful, awful jumpshooter a foot from the 3 point line. .

Meanwhile TJ, please, go over that screen. You're letting Nelson shoot wide open every time.

11-20-2010, 09:08 PM
Brandon's scoring isn't way up so far this season but he's definitely moving more and going to the basket more on offense - if he keeps doing that he'll get better at it as the season wears on and the points will come. I'm OK with that progression.

Roy is the man and is owning Dwight Howard.

Between the shots he's given up and the horrible shots he's taken, Dunleavy has to be responsible for at least 16 or so points that could be in our favor...not even joking. His close outs on three pointers have been absolutely awful and his shot selection more than questionable. He thinks he is so good just because he gets hot once every 7 games. He doesn't know when to stop shooting, most players who are worth their salt will find other ways to be effective when their shot isn't falling...not mike. He is evidently Kobe.

i follow the pacers and PD pretty actively, but ive never actually decided to make a post. after watching the first half of this magic game, theres only one thing i really feel like i want to say as a pacers fan...

mike dunleavy is ruining my life. seriously, the guy cant close out on a three for the life of him...and he is shooting the ball like a 6 year old girl. its a shame hes even getting one minute of playing time. i hear people on this board say he plays good team d, he has a good basketball iq, etc etc. NO. he is absolute crap, in every way, shape and form.

Dunleavy has just successfully raped our lead. Misses a shot badly followed by not closing out on Rashard Lewis.

Can't you run him off the three point line Mike????!!!!The shot was a poor one.... missed badly.

But some of the comments regarding Dun are way off target.

If you guys care to educate yourselves, rewind the game and play the sequence on the break where Lewis hits his 3 on the wing. Why did it happen? Because the opponent was on a break, Dunleavy recovered to the center of the floor and stopped Nelson from penetrating the lane.

Ford did not have Nelson contained, and no one else picked him up. Needless to say, no one picked up Lewis on the wing either.

Not sure what you mean by cool down. Plus the Magic should be the team that cools down as they are hitting over 50% right now, 60% from 3. Put Rush in for Dunleavy and the defense will tighten up.

Keep running the offense through Roy. He is hitting shots and making great passes. It doesn't even matter who is running the point if they just get the ball to Roy.

Dun has played terrible defense all night. Maybe on that play he was covering Ford's mistake, but there have been plenty of others where he's just been bad. And he isn't hitting his shots or really helping the flow of the offense. Rush has been much better for us tonight so far. He needs to play more than Dunleavy in the second half.

I'm not talking about when Mike is helping out containing Dwight. That is a good thing. That is help defense.

But when Dwight was out he wouldn't run Lewis off of the three point line which VASTLY limits his effectiveness.

No, Nelson and center would run a high pick n roll or pick n pop and TJ didn't care one bit to cover it. He let Jameer WIDE open twice in a row. Don't expect him to miss too many wide open threes.

You have to have someone glued to Rashard Lewis's jersey at this point. The guy is on fire. Some of the shots he made have been wide open others have been contested. I don't care if it's Rush, Granger, Posey just have it be someone's job to not let Lewis get an open look. Don't let that guy see daylight.

What happened to going to Roy in the paint? Was that a one half thing? Go right at Dwight Howard every time. He more likely to foul or give up the easy layup then he is to block a shot there.

Every time TJ drives into the lane I just don't have confidence. I'm sorry but it's like he doesn't know what he wants to do with it.

You said mike is playing good defense, as a general statement. Maybe on that play you're right, but as a whole..no. Mike was getting lost in the first half, going under screens, bad close outs, etc, etc. Once he contested the shot well and Lewis still hit it, but that comes from the fact that Lewis was expecting a weak close out like before and he knows Mike doesn't have a chance of blocking his shot so why should it effect the result?

I would like to say the same thing about Posey

There is a similarity. At one time, however, Dunleavy was playing near all-star level. He was taking a lot of charges and yes, he was playing great team defense. He would almost NEVER miss if left open for a three. We saw some of that shooting against Denver. But he's no where near as good as he was pre-injury. The same can be said for JO. At one time, JO was Garnett/Duncan level...and looked like he might have potential to be even better. That all changed with his injury too.

In any event, I think Mike has lost a step and maybe some rhythm.
Whatever it is, this is not the 2007 verson of MDJ. That guy is still not back.

tj has been playing better than price

I'm going to disagree. Price isn't playing great, but TJ is playing like TJ of last year. Over dribbling, TO's, getting into the lane and getting stuck....

TJ just irks me when he gets allllllllllllll the way to the bucket, and kicks it back out to the perimeter.

Three years and still going strong.

**** it Mike try to make us lose. Keep trying.

We really need this game. We don't want to be floating at or under .500 all year.

they won't be floating, they will be sinking trust me ;)

Well, when Roy comes out for 5 minutes plus we lose.

Terrible foul by Roy. He's GOT to know better than that.

Roy has 5 now... That was a pretty BS 5th foul though.

TJ is a really good mid-range shooter. That was a silly foul by Roy.

Hibbert getting frustrated....just dumb. He just lost us the game... after all that good he just took himself out and its going to cost us the game. Great. Young team doing dumb things.

I been saying this for like three months already and everybody keeps saying that he is going to be some kind of all star this year.

This is sad. We could have won this game. I blame JOB, Mike...even though he hit a few shots later in the game, he took so many bad ones before that those are too little too late and...more JOB for not managing the rotations.

You don't win or lose the game on ONE play. Sure it was an awful play but it is not what cost you a win.

Missing nearly all of your 3 point shots, a lot of your free throws, and not going to Roy in the post in the second half is what will cost the Pacers the win.

Did I mention the refs are awful this game?

TJ really knows how to lose a basketball game.
