It's as if Coach Jim O'Brien planned this. If he's out significant time, TJ Ford now becomes the main man in Indiana. Wow.

MikeWellsNBA Hansbrough (ankle) didn't practice 2day and Collison injured his ankle in practice. Both questionable vs. Atlanta 2morrow.

T.J. Ford will make his 1st start of the season and A.J. Price will be active for the first time if Collison can't play

MikeWellsNBA Here's some good news, Jeff Foster (ankle) practiced 2day. Not sure how good it is, though, since O'Brien didn't play him when healthy.

Is this a joke? If this is true, there goes our offense unless if AJ plays as well as he did in the preseason...

Right before the toughest stretch of the season, how unlucky is that. Lets hope he recovers fast.
I suppose we'll see more AJ now though.

So you have to start the thread with some BS. good job

Hopefully his injury is like Tyler's and not serious. If JOB wanted Ford to start, Collison never would have. If Job didn't want Mcroberts starting, he wouldn't be. simply put what we have is what JOB wants.
Some should be happy that Price might get some playing time.

Yes, since owner's and management have never forced coaches to play players they didn't want to play.

Anyways unless it is severe sprain I would expect him to miss no more than 1 game. Hell I sprained my ankle once, it swelled up to about double in size, and I played 2 days later.

But if JOB isn't choosing his lineups, where is the relevance of half the posts on this board. I mean shouldn't they haters be calling for Larry Bird's(who I believe has done a great job) head?

Is his reward back to being in a suit?

Not a big deal.

Tyler had a minor ankle sprain and just needed a few days off.

Just sounds like a tweak and he's just going to need a few days off...

There's good and bad from this. We don't have Darren available, but we get our first look at AJ this season.

I never said that he wasn't the one choosing, only that it has happened before, probably happening right now on some teams, and will happen in the future. We don't know if it is only JOB or not, but he is the face guy so he will be taking the blame.

It definitley will be intersting to see the way it plays out

I think it will be funny on the board too. If AJ plays real well, his supporters will come on here saying how he should be the back up, etc etc.

If he doesnt play well then the non supprters will be like"see what I told ya"

So inferior players should play simply because they are younger? Argue about who you think is better all you want, but don't say they deserve it because the other guy is old. Doesn't it occur to anyone that players grow and learn in practice to.

Reason #2,452 why we love, and perhaps unappreciated fully, guys like Reggie Miller (and Peyton Manning). As fans, we prefer a bad game from a guy who plays every single game to a guy you can't count on to show up for health reasons. I realize it's a contact sport, but I really appreciate the durability of consistent players.

Ford moves into lineup; Foster, Price available

<HR>It could be a night of firsts.

First lineup change. First start since last March for T.J. Ford. First appearances of the season for A.J. Price and Jeff Foster.

With Darren Collison out with a sprained ankle, T.J. Ford will start at point guard, marking the first time in nine games Coach Jim O'Brien has had to alter the starting lineup. The bench rotation also will shuffle as Tyler Hansbrough also will miss the game with a sprained ankle but Foster returns after missing the past two weeks with an ankle sprain.

This will be Ford's first start since March 12 of last season, but he has played long minutes off the bench, frequently finishing close games. He's averaging 18.9 minutes, 5.8 points and 3.5 assists.

"I've been in this role before, I just haven't done it from the beginning of the season. I've adapted to it, made the adjustments and am having a lot of fun with it," Ford said. "Being a veteran it makes it easier. Understand, I've been through a lot throughout my NBA career.

"It was a tough year last year and things didn't quite turn out the way both parties would've liked them to turn out. It's just a matter of me coming in here, doing my job and letting the rest take care of itself."

With Collison unavailable, second-year guard A.J. Price will be active for the first time this year and will serve as Ford's backup. James Posey will be the first power forward off the bench, with Foster available to spell either the power forward or center positions.

"It's very important for us to have quality depth at the point guard position," said coach Jim O'Brien, "and one of the things that Larry (Bird) recognized with the youth of the other three point guards that it was important that we have a veteran that is capable of starting when needed and capable of finishing up games."

Foster, who missed most of last season due to back surgery, hasn't made a game appearance since Dec. 19, 2009.

"I'm going to be ready to play when called upon," said Foster. "My ankle is probably 90, 95 percent and obviously I couldn't play basketball for two weeks so my conditioning is not what I would like it to be but I'm not going to get it back without playing, either in games or in practice, however it happens."
