Ager was converted into a point guard with the Wolves missing Jonny Flynn and Luke Ridnour to injuries. Ager averaged 3.8 points in four games this season, playing sparsely just to rest Sebastian Telfair in the last two games.

The Timberwolves worked out four free-agent point guards when they were in Sacramento to face the Kings and likely will sign one to a contract soon.

Ridnour is expected to be out another five days or so with a strained left hamstring. Flynn has not played this season because of hip surgery but hopes to return to the court by the end of the month.

Minnesota announced the roster move on Thursday.

I got to believe that we Tj is a better option then they currently have

Timberwolves Sign Sundiata Gaines to Reinforce Backcourt
Published : Friday, 12 Nov 2010, 10:38 AM CST

MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday announced the signing of free-agent guard Sundiata Gaines. To make room on the roster, the Wolves waived guard Maurice Ager.

Gaines, a 6-1 point guard, appeared in 32 games for the Utah Jazz in 2009-10, averaging 3.3 points and 1.2 assists in 6.8 minutes per game. He landed on the radar after hitting a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Jazz a 97-96 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Jan. 14, 2010. It was the first NBA three-pointer of his career. Gaines also appeared in five playoff games with Utah in 2010, averaging 2.2 ppg.

Prior to joining the Jazz, Gaines played in 14 games with the Idaho Stampede of the NBA D-League in 2009-10, averaging 23.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 6.9 assists.

Gaines played for the University of Georgia from 2004-07, averaging 11.9 ppg, 5.5 rpg and 3.9 apg in 123 career games. He finished his career as Georgia's all-time leader in steals (259) and second in assists (476).

Because right now they have Telfair only and even though Flynn is due back soon, he is a second year player comming off an injury

I don't think they like Flynn that much, to be honest.

That and..I think they like to collect point guards..

i heard on draft day a team offered a lottery pick for him. That was a dumb move to draft him they should have drafted Curry. He has an NBA body and would have been a better fit
