IMHO, Indiana's greatest strength in year's past was its bench depth and solid role players. For years, Reggie Miller was the guy who would take the last shot, and lead the team to battle against the Bulls and Knicks. Reggie Miller was a great scorer (when needed) and good clutch performer. Miller was the closest thing to a "Superstar" that Indiana had, but nothing like a Jordan, Ewing, Barkley, Malone, Stockton, Wilkins, etc. The overall rosters was made up of players who knew their role, and offense was mostly motion with some emphasis on the inside/outside game where plays were designed to free up the 3PT shooters. I swear JOB has been watching some old Pacers film.

Comparing the previous and current rosters, it seems that Indiana is starting to become that same type of team that it was in the 90's. Granted, Granger is not the "Leader" like so many people want him to be, but I believe he can shoot the dagger through the heart when needed. And who knows...Miller really didn't become a household name until AFTER Indiana starting going to the playoffs. The playoff atmosphere might have the same effect on Granger. Here are the previous rosters...

With good coaching, can this team make it all the way in 2-3 years? As a side note, Indiana should go get Larry Brown again. He seems to be a pro at coaching teams that have depth, but no "Superstar" on the team.

I love talking about our great teams from the late-90's and all, but let's let them stay there. I wish people would stop trying to compare our current squad. DG is not Reggie. Hans/McBob are not the Davis Bros. Hibbert is not Smits. PG might wear 24 but he definitely isn't Bender. Let it go lol

We're definitly a far better team than we were in the past 5 seasons.
