Game's on FSI-HD tonight. I won tickets (again!), so I'm going. I know I've said this before, but even though it's a pre-season game, I'm pumped. I've loved both home games so far, had fun at both. Hopefully Pacers get a W tonight, and more importantly, they come out of the game healthy.

It would be awesome if Darren could get the best of CP3 tonight, even if it is preseason. Hopefully Posey has a good game as well. I think we should really win this game tonight as other than CP3, we should dominate them at all other positions.

Especially since David West is not playing tonight, because of an injured wrist.

Jeff doesn't look good. He took a shot in the chops from Watkins, and no foull called. He wasn't real happy either.

TO with Pacers up by 10.

Posey looks like he's moving with concrete shoes on.
Hans active as always taking the ball away from Peja who then fouled Hans. Hans makes both FT.

Dunleavy may have broken his nose, plus Granger in the locker room with either a sprained ankle or some type of muscle strain. Guys are diving all over the floor now and lots of steals are occurring...VERY EXCITING GAME!! lol

Pacers are looking GREAT out there and I LOVE IT. PG's dunk, McBob's dunks, Hansbrough's dunk, Hibbert's dunks...everyone is dunking or hitting 3s now. Great game right now, we just have to keep it up.

Justin Tyme
10-15-2010, 08:18 PM
Half time with Pacers up by 15 points with the score 55-40.
Hans hits shot at the buzzer. I believe that's 8 points for him.
I haven't seen the rebound stat, but my guess is the Pacers have more rebs than NO.

I've enjoyed watching the 1st half by the Pacers.

wat happened to danny?

He was feeling it and tried to force his way into the lane when there was nothing there... and once he realized it he had to do something weird before he got a charge and I think he tried to lov it over over the player infront of him and rolled his ankle...

Sookie
10-15-2010, 08:20 PM
I hope Danny's okay. Edit: seems like it was an ankle injury.

Nice to see Tyler do well.

Collison reminds me of Kemba Walker a bit. I can't help it, I find the layup attempt that slams off the backboard absolutely adorable. (So long as we're winning. :P ) I know I'm odd, but that's just always something I got a chuckle out of. :P

Did anyone see one of the interviews on espn with Bobby Knight... They asked him if he could change one thing about college basketball what would it be and he said to start calling travelling...

He looked at Mensa to let him know he was handling it. Otherwise he was going to want to fight.

It was just a foul ...... if the whistle hadn't already blown and a foul already been called earlier. He hacked a guy when the play had already been dead. That's like an NFL player hitting someone after the play is over. Pretty simple. Pretty stupid by McRoberts.

Josh just scores? Good lord, has Tyler-love come to this?

Remember the hard 2 handed entry pass to Roy who yanked it past his defender for the dunk? Remember when Josh smacked a rebound he had no chance at off to the corner which then allowed Collison to sneak back and steal it as NO recovered it on the baseline? Smart, timely switches and consist ant movement that shows court awareness.

There is a big reason the team looks better, the same thing I've been PO'd about for 2 years. If you play Roy and Josh together and let them develop 2 years ago, you'd have a really strong frontline at this point. Just getting them so much time together now is already having a huge impact.

Frankly I still don't see the greatness of Tyler. Spotting up for a slow 15 foot jumper or getting a friendly roll on a YMCA jump hook with below shoulder release point is not what wins NBA games.

Hustle I like, but he still looks out of synch and awkward much of the time he's out there.

I just don't see how anyone could compare their games right now, let alone in favor of Tyler. I'm hoping Tyler makes things work enough to be a solid bench PF contributor, that's where his game is at. I'd be worried if he had to be the starting PF right now. If he reaches that level it will mean he's made a ton of progress from where he is.

And yes, as I said in the draft discussions at the time, Joe Alexander is not worthy of a top 15 draft pick. Classic climber in the draft ranks after he stopped playing games and started working out.

his shot was falling tonight, and he had an incredible pass to Dun. He just needs to cut down on the turnovers. I thought he was decent tonight. He's just young. Just like it was fanboys 2 years ago who said Josh deserves minutes. Just like it was fanboys who said draft a PG and let Josh do the PF thing instead of drafting Tyler (you could have traded down and gotten Collison AND something else AND used Troy to get another player now).

WTF, does Josh need to win MVP to merit defense around here? Maybe enough with the UncleBuck-esque "he's barely an NBA player" talk instead. That the ONLY reason why "Josh fanboys" get riled up.

The dude came up with a game winning play even.

What about if Hans and Chris Paul go for the same rebound, then what? Or was no one watching that part of the game.

Paul took it from him outright, then turned right around and scored virtually over him 2 feet from the rim.

I'm not even trying to rip on Hans, but if anyone has a legend it's Tyler. He does hustle, he is physical, and he sometimes has a positive impact on plays, but he's got such a long way to go and does get beat at both ends more than he wins. I don't want that to be the truth as a Pacers fan, but it is.

This was a fun game to watch.. I havent really watched basketball ever since the Bulls split up but this game was a joy to see.

As far as Hans / McBob.. I think Tyler is a more complete player - He can play the post - make jumpers - draw fouls - jumps a little bit - rebound a little bit - plays decent enough defense - physical - hustles and is an ok passer from the top.

McBob can jump a bit - hustle - rebound a bit - good passer - can block shots. He is basically a specialist player and is why he has been on the bench the majority of his career.

McBob probably is a better fit to start because the Pacers have enough of everything and really dont need another mouth to feed. Tyler off the bench means there will be some post presence and some extra offense on the floor.

IMHO.

P.S. Who was it on this forum who said Joe Alexander was a better player than Hans? ( I know who it is but lets see if they man up )

I can't possibly agree with this post. Saying that Tyler "is a more complete player" is flat out wrong.

He is probably a better scorer, (he forces it too much for my liking) but that's it. He's not a better defender, he's not a better passer, he's not a better ball handler, he's certainly less athletic. I realize you're a Hansbrough fan, but tell it like it is.

Collison, a lot of positive and negatives with Collison. His shot was on (it's quite strange looking, but it was on.) The pass to Dun was fantastic. He also goes all out, all the time. Which I like.

-which I want to interject here with Dun. There's a lot of talk about him, but I've noticed that he plays quite well with both of our young PGs. Which is interesting, to say the least.

on the other side, he's sloppy with the ball. That's something he needs to work on, IMO. He also looses his guy, defensively.

Dun, he scared me a bit when he took the trailing three at the top of the key. I was like "WHERE DID MURPHY COME FROM..Oh" He did what he was supposed to do, he shot well, played smart. He's just not a good defensive player.

Josh - his stats don't show how valuable he is, really. He's been fantastic this preseason. I don't think, even tonight, the competition is even close between Josh and Tyler. Although they are very different players. The funny thing is, in this offense, it's almost like we have a point forward and the PG is used as a scoring guard.

TJ- I honestly didn't see him play much. (Missed his part of the first half.) But as much as I don't want to see him play, I don't want him hurt either. Is this the same hamstring that he had an issue with last season? Poor guy. Anyway, he needs to let it heal completely though, because that's something that'll last all season if he doesn't.

George- he's improving in a few preseason games. He seems to have gotten the jitters out. I love his game, and he's going to be a fantastic player. As I've been saying, really pretty shot. (It's nice when they go in!)

AJ - he brings a calmness to the PG rotation that I like. When New Orleans had taken the lead, there was some control there. As much as I like Collison's 110% all out, I liked AJ "calm the hell down" game. It's good to have both. The foul/steal sequence was not good, but before hand he had played very good defense (that whole unit did) and the offense was running well. He's starting to miss some shots, which might mess with his confidence. He needs to make them if he'd like to play in the regular season.

Tyler- It's really really fantastic to see Tyler play so well. I don't care if it was against guys who were borderline NBA players. Tyler is practically a rookie and he looked solid. He's a player I really really wanted to see get back on the court, because he's just clearly one of those guys in love with the game. I hope he builds on this.

Overall, I think this game will be representive of what the season will be. I think we'll be up and down because we're young. Probably in the same game. But there's a lot of youth and excitement, and I think we'll win a few games because of hustle and just plain effort.

Let me know what you find out. I thought Darren started the 2nd half, but I might be pulling an Andy Pettitte and misremembering.

No, Darren started it, and was in when the lead was erased. When TJ came in it continued to be erased.

Then AJ and George came in, and the defense overall picked up. George and AJ switched back and forth on Paul. It was actually amazing how well George played CP.

I'm not down playing Chris Paul b/c he's a great player, but I think Dahntay Jones had more to do with the Hornets 3rd quarter comeback than CP3

i'm kinda worried PG is starting to look too much like DG on offense, and not scoring-wise, but in how they both just stand behind the three point line and wait for the ball to come to them :/... & with the way george can finish @ the basket, he needs to cut more often

that is what i noticed CP3 coulnt get past PG24 which was surprising that just shows how much of an athlete PG24 is. Also he stuck to him like glue and didnt get many open jumpers.

yes he needs to work on that. But he moved really well without the ball which i am really impressed with. I think it is the Ofnse they buried him in the corner and he didnt get to cut much when he was playing the 3. I didnt notice it as much when he was playing SG

Yup. Price stays in front of his guy pretty well, but um..is vertically challenged. Collison is also vertically challenges (and loses his guy.) But Collison is quick, and he should be able to change that. But if Paul George can stay in front of some of the quickest PGs in the league..that'll be fantastic for us, and it'll stop the effectiveness of many PGs against us, so long as Darren and AJ are capable of defending the SG. (Because lets be honest, there isn't another PG out there that can stop CP3 or Nash, so it's nothing against our point guards. However, sticking a 6'9 guy that's just as fast as them on him..)

agree with you i cant wait to see PG24 guard Deron Williams that should be a good matchup. Hopefully JOB noticed and will start leting him guard the big fast quick pg's like Drose,John wall, tyreke evans, and i am forgeting a bunch lol. But DC can handle CP3/aaron brooks and smaller pg but a 6"4 pg i dont know if he can. If Lance can play D in the future he could Guard some of thoes big pg's

Whenever CP3 went to the line, we chanted "They-Wont-Trade-You!"

We did it on the 3-FT attempt. And he short-armed the first one, rimmed-out the 2nd one, and caught a friendly bounce on the third. It was great stuff. :)

We did a "Thank You, New Orleans" chant. It didn't sound right. We should've gone with the "Thanks for Darren" chant instead.
