Just a place to talk about other team's preseason.

Just a couple of things looking over box scores jumped out at me ...

1 - Evan Turner struggled pretty badly. He struggled most (if not all) of Summer League too. I wonder if 76ers fans are worried at this point.

2 - Wow, did Ricky Rubio suck against the Lakers. 0 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists, 4 turnovers and 3 fouls in 18 minutes.

What else is going on that I missed?

John Wall is the real deal.

John Wall is the real deal.

I thought that was so obvious it didn't need to be said.

Granted I do recall quite a few saying he wouldn't be as good as others thought here. No idea what gave that indication, but hey.

Question: Did Ricky Rubio play for the Wolves while they were overseas playing preseason games, or did he play in that game against the Lakers in which L.A. played some Euro team (I think FC Barcelona?). It just popped in my head that WOW he might have played his 1 and only game for the Wolves lol.

Rubio played for his Euro team against the Lakers. And Rubio's team won.

And Lorbek hit a 3! Wooo

I hope Jimmy doesn't find out! :D

What were his stats?

If John Wall is the real deal, the Celtics are the real real deal.

They destroyed the Sixers last night. They weren't even trying either.

People forget that they always go on crazy runs during the season before they cool down. They went on a 28 game winning streak 2 years ago, and they were like 35-15 mid season last year (not 100% sure).

When I looked at the box score I missed the 3 blocks, 3 assists and a steal. I didn't realize he did all that. Wow.

What were his stats?

He's not going to fit into Jimmy's "system." He wasted valuable energy blocking 3 shots and trying to defend when he should have been conserving that energy to hoist up more 3s. And what's with these 3 assists? If you get an open 3, you shoot it! He has so much yet to learn...

John Wall is the real deal.

Evan Turner will be fine. He'll come around and he'll be a good player.

But contrary to what a lot of people believed, it was John Wall who was far more NBA ready, despite the fact that he's still raw in several areas. His dynamic ability in the open floor and athleticism automatically translate to the NBA level and will be a factor from the get go. He was a great athlete in college and he's a great athlete in the NBA.

It's Turner who has to adjust for the fact that he's going from being a pretty good athlete in college to just an alright athlete in the pros. It's Turner who will have a longer adjustment period than Wall.

But I do expect him to come around.

The Barcelona vs. Lakers was a good and funny game. Barcelona executed better down the end. Lorbek had a quiet game, he was reticent to shoot the ball, but still made an impact. Had two huge blocks, one on Kobe Bryant the other on some guy (Caracter?). If the Pacers are looking to bring him over, they should be talking to his agent now, because he'll eventually sign an extension with Barcelona.

Blake Griffin looked good last night. I feel like I completely forgot about him w/ the injury and the whole.. Clipper thing.

John Wall does look to be the real deal indeed. In fact I like the Wall, Hinrich, Arenas lineup the Wiz toss out there.

I think both Evan Turner and Derrick Favors have looked average...except Favors is a couple years younger. Who knows.

The Bulls may have a tough time w/o Boozer if Gibson doesn't pick it up.

Boston is a pretty deep team when healthy

Hey that big tall guy from China is back.

Can't wait for the regular season!

Twenty-eight game win streak two years ago? It's important to check your facts before posting. Memories are lousy. How about 19?

Favors should change his number. For some reason, he looks a lot like Joey Graham with that #14 jersey. It's odd.

I'm hoping Avery Johnson can convince Brook Lopez that he needs to step up defensively. He's a very overrated player right now. Well-rounded, solid scorer... but isn't really great at anything and is very uninterested in playing defense.

Turner will be a very good player. He's capable of doing lot of stuff and is very smart.

Didn't watch but looks like Jordan Hill had a good game for the Rockets and Lawal as well for the Suns.

I believe Evan Turner will be fine personally. I just think as a #2 pick and coming out as an upperclassman will put unrealistic expectations on him off the bat. Especially in Philly. We know how forgiving they are.

He may not put it together until late year two or year three though. That's what I expected. I'm afraid the media and fans will have a fit if it does take near that long.

Looks like Cleveland made a good choice keeping JJ Hickson. Don't know if this will continue into the season, but the kid is averaging 17 points and 9 rebounds per in only 25 minutes per game in the preseason.

That's some production right there.

Greg Monroe with a 15/7/4 game off the bench. Looking to see more games like that from him once the real games start.

Agreed about Hickson. I thought Mike Brown should have played him a lot more vs. Boston last season in the playoffs. It annoyed me how little him and Varejao played. Anyway, he was still a very poor post defender + below average rebounder. I like his potential, but he has to show improvement on those areas. It's tough to evaluate those things in pre-season games. I've also liked Gibson and Eyenga.

Is Chris Bosh carrying some small injury? It seems to me he's looking slow, struggling with his first step and changing directions, lacks explosiveness and vertical quickness. Am I the only one seeing this?

Jermaine O'Neal played his first minutes for Boston last night and looked very good defensively. The Celtics are going to be a tough team to score on, btw, even more so than last season I think. But back to O'Neal, the first post-up he attempted... a turnover. Doc needs to get this guy to play as a role-player, scoring off his teammates, or else he's going to be a massive liability offensively.

ps - I think Evan Turner will contribute very quickly with his defense + rebounding + some playmaking. Scoring will take some more time, but I wouldn't expect him to be such a slow learner.

I wrote in some other threat that Jerebko's injury was a blessing in disguise to Detroit. Very excited to see what Monroe can do playing alongside Ben Wallace and Maxiell. They should limit Villanueva to 4th big level of minutes.

Bosh has the look of a guy that spent his summer partying and got out of shape.

Gordon Hayward scored 9pts and 6pts in back to back games vs. Portland.
So far is he 8/8 from the foul line in 2 games.

I don't think so. He looked good in the first 2 games. He ran the floor well and he scored 20 and 23 points in 26 and 28 minutes respectively. He was held to 2 points in the 3rd game but he only played 12 minutes. He and Lebron didn't play much that game. When they did play, they were just trying to get their teammates the ball.
