Chicago Bulls forward Carlos Boozer sustained a fracture of his right hand (5th metacarpal) on October 2, 2010. He was evaluated by team physician Dr. Brian Cole and hand specialist Dr. Marc Cohen of Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush.

The fracture will require surgery and Carlos will likely be out 8 weeks.

Do we play them within the first 2-3 weeks of the season? If so we might have a chance now! ;) But seriously, I really think we'll beat the Bulls when we play them (or so I am hoping).

LOL sounds so shady

"Boozer suffered the injury on Saturday during the Bulls' day off. According to team sources, Boozer tripped over a bag in his house and fell."

I can't say I'm saddened when a division rival loses a key player to injury. Let's hope that contract ends up biting Chicago in the ***.

I believe he's referring to Boozer's tenure in Utah Jazz, but yes, you are correct, this had absolutely nothing to do with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

I would have assumed he meant Utah as well, except the "back in the day" part. The Jazz split was recent.

Yea. Maybe his mind is a little fuzzy :) I think Boozer missed nearly a year at some point early on in his time with the Jazz? I just remember being completely devastated by him on my fantasy team hahah.

Um...no. The Cavs and Boozer had an unwritten agreement on a contract and then he backed out of it...

yep he walked out on the cavs... and they were pisssed at that.

I don't mind this injury... I don't like all the bulls bandwagoners, they are nearly as bad as the bandwagoners who support the heat, celtics and lakers.

Injury prone? The guy broke his hand... That's a freak accident. It's not like rolling a ankle and not playing through it.

That's what you get when you try to dunk from the foul line.....

04-05 (his first season with Utah) Boozer missed 31 games. In 05-06 he missed 49 games. 06-08 he only missed a combined nine games for both seasons. In 08-09 he had another rough season missing 45 games. Then last season he only missed four games. In his two years in Cleveland he missed a combined eight games. I actually remember watching ESPN during his move from Cleveland to Utah and the Cavs were not at all happy with his departure.

No, it's called over-use when talking about those two. You don't put your young pitchers out every opportunity without inning limits, which is why young pitchers often times have 100 inning limits today.

The Cubs completely destroyed their talent because they didn't allow the body to adapt to the phsyical demands of going from college to the pros.

I think Boozer just broke his own record for fastest trip to the IR after signing a fat new contract.

Here's what Boozer had to say about the injury on Sunday night:

"I was at my house, came around a corner, fell over a bag, put my arm down to try to brace myself and fractured my fifth metacarpal into three pieces. I'll get surgery on Tuesday, do my rehab and conditioning, be around the guys."

"If I had landed with an open hand I would've been fine. But somehow my right hand got turned over and that's what caused the break."

"It happened last night, probably 5:30-6 o'clock at night, got it looked at right away. I find out for sure today when I saw the hand specialist. I'm going to get it done as soon as possible, so Tuesday morning I'm going in early to get the surgery taken care of so I can start my rehab process."

"It was just dark. My doorbell had rang and I tripped over a bag, tried to brace myself and it popped. I jumped back up, opened the door and my hand was still a little bit numb."

"It was a big bag I had first thing over here at the hotel for training camp. I went back to my place, hadn't unpacked the bag yet, came around the corner, running to get the door and fell over it. I'm 265, 5 percent body fat. I'm heavy, man. I guess I had to brace myself and my weight just collapsed the bone right there."

"At least it happened right now and not later in the season."

"I'm disappointed and feel bad about it, but we've got guys who will be able to step up and play. I'm going to be there supporting. I'll be the biggest cheerleader and sideline coach and be busting my butt to try and get healthy, attacking my rehab to try and get right."

"I didn't know. To me, it was just a little bit sore, it wasn't a sharp pain. I called the doc, the doc asked me if there as some swelling. I said, 'Yeah, there's a little bit of swelling, there's like a little knot.' So I went and got some X-rays and there was a fracture. I didn't know right away. It was obvious through the X-ray. When it heals up, they'll slide the pins out and I'll go from there."

"I'll be back stronger than ever and my hand will be just fine. Right when it heals up, they'll slide pins out and move forward."

good for him he's not 265, 4 percent body fat. it's much heavier. it would be a disaster.
