I dont know if any of you say this morning in the star, Mark stated that a rumour involving the Pacers and the Hawks for Pollard and the hawks would give up a pick and cash. This deal maybe gone down the drain now.

So, what salary does Drobnjak command? Enough to affect how much the HAwks can offer Dampier or just the min????

According to Hoopshype, Peja (no, not that Peja) makes $2.8M this year, which brings Atlanta's cap up to just about $36M. That means they can't offer Dampier a huge contract, but they never were going to, anyway. He'd still fit with the numbers I've heard.

According to DallasBasketball.com, this deal takes Atlanta out of the running for Dampier:

http://dallasbasketball.com/headline_A.asp

"By acquiring Drobnjak, Atlanta seemed to signal that they are out of the running for Dampier, since their cap room for 2004-05 is now around $6.75M. That would be less than the $7.5M or more apparently needed for the reported $40-50M offer that they had been offering the Golden State center."

Actually, no, with 10 percent raises, you can get up into the $40's on a five year deal from 6.75.
