I can't tell whether you're asking who Dick Harter is or just astonished by his response.

Dick Harter was a very long time NBA Assistant coach/Head coach and was with the Pacers up until last season.

lol those are awesome!! you should bring them all to the same game and not just 1 each game...have others in Area 55 use them, too, so that it will have more of the IU-affect. Great idea and great work!

Long time Pacer fan, first time poster. I love the idea of Area 55 and want to do anything i can to support the team. I would have applied for the contest, but it didn't make much since to apply since I currently go to school in Bloomington. So instead, I have been working diligently with two close friends (Bender and dgranger17) who are apart of Area 55.

Taking a cue from arguably the best fans in the country, we came up with the idea to bring the fatheads to Area 55. I am currently finishing up 2 reggies, pacer logo, Stacey, Handyman, and larry. The fat heads are around 30"X36". If you guys have any ideas for other fatheads, please send me an email with the photo. The better the quality, the better the fat heads will turn out. My email is tdshrout@gmail.com, let me know of any ideas or if you have any questions.

Why don't we wait and see if anyone actually comes to the games first before we worry about blocking their views...

We aren't holding them up during actual play. The only time I would hold one up during play is say, McRoberts throws down a sick dunk, I would then raise his fathead. As he was running (hopefully sprinting) back on D he would see his huge face in the crowd. Come on people, relax.

It would be neat if we started a trend in professional basketball with these Fatheads. Have the Fatheads, Area 55 fans, El Pacero, College Kids, and Pacers Band.

I think that would be neat if the fans made the makeup of Conseco, as well as the awesome arena. Like, imagine if there were Jersey nights, pajama nights, and crazy fan nights that would be cool.

Of course we need fans.... But if we win 41-42 games this year you have to expect attendence to go up. Heck, Tyler Hansbrough himself brought a couple of people to Conseco. Imagine him, Darren, and Danny bringing guys here.

As I walk in the arena I hear the band and Area 55 fans going nuts for the season opener as Roy gives them a big wave. As I look to my right and left I see Fatheads of Josh, Tyler, Darren, Slick, and Reggie spreaded out around the arena, as well as alot more people at the games.

If your looking for an old Pacer to make a fathead out of I think Darnell would be perfect. Big Giant Afro would make a killer fathead and the fact that he is still around and he would probably get a big kick out of it would make it perfect.

That is a beautiful fro. Problem is that I don't know who that is, and if I don't I'm sure many of the casual fans can't recognize him either.

Absolutely. That one will get some hoots and hollers, and if more people get told that it is Darnell then it's an educational tool as well.

I have Darnell "Dr. Dunks" Hillman's autograph, along with several other of the ABA players on a money ball. They were all signing at Circle Center many years ago, and I was lucky enough to get some scripts. Still have the ball kicking around my house here somewhere.

Bender, just wanted to say that these are freakin' awsome. I guarantee that these wind up in the Indystar. Promise me that if any of the Pacer games get shifted to TNT that you will make a Charles Barkley, and a giant cheeseburger for your friend to hold up next to it. Heck that might be a good idea anyway. Agree with everyone on the Darnell Hillman too. That one needs to get made. The El Pacero is also a good idea. I think you should do a Pauly Walnuts from the Sopranos since he's JOB's diabolical twin. Or maybe it's the other way around...

The ABA Indiana Pacers were known for two things.

1. Winning

2. Darnell Hillmans afro, hell it was such a thing that in the movie Long Shots: the life & times of the ABA there was an entire section dedicated to it were both Dr. J & Bob Costas talk about Darnell's hair.

Also here is the part I think is interesting. He is there every single game working for the club and I mean actually working not sitting in the stands wearing a suite. The guy walks the entire fieldhouse every game. If you don't remember what he looked like you might remember having seen him at the field house looking like this

http://www.homepages.indiana.edu/101703/images/Bliss2.jpg

P.S. He's the one on the right.

Not to mention he's as nice as anyone can possibly be. He's always there for a high five or a handshake, which is cool because he has the biggest hands I have ever seen.

I cannot wait to see these things filling up the Fieldhouse! That's going to be awesome!! My idea would be another Reggie fathead, with the hands around the neck. http://www.basketball.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/reggie-miller-choke.jpg

Possibly the most recognizable picture of Reggie, and a tremendous thing to have when the opposition is shooting crunch-time free throws.
