this thread is a good opportunity for me to ask a question I have had in my mind for quite some time :

why do Reebok and now Adidas replicas have a different shape from the originals? In this I mean above all the wide shoulders... That's always surprised me and bothered me a bit since I am not a huge fan of wide shoulders jerseys...
I also ask because in France we have Champion replicas and they respect the original design pretty well.

ChicagoJ

You ready for this? :D

Authentic, Champion:
Miller (Flo Jo, blue)
Person (Rookie, blue)

Replica:
Person (Flo Jo)
Kenny Williams (yes, really) (Flo Jo)

Dream Team II:
Miller (Blue)

Dream Team III:
Miller (White)
Miller (Blue)

NBA@50: (Pacers '74)
Miller (White)

Pinstripes:
Mullin (Blue)

Then I stopped. I reallly didn't like the pinstripes. And I haven't liked the roster since they changed to the current uniforms so I haven't bought one. I think I'll be asking for a Hibbert jersey for Christmas, though.

I also have:

Authentic shooting shirt to match the Flo-Jo's (mostly worn during the Larry Brown era).
Authentic Flo-Jo warm up jacket
Authentic shooting shirt from Bird's first season as coach (with "Pacers" across the shirt tail)

Football: ()

Rod Woodson (Black)
Hines Ward w/ Steelers 75th season patch (Black)
Troy Polamalu w/ Super Bowl 43 patch (White)
Jerome Bettis w/ Super Bowl XL patch (White)
James Harrison Pro Bowl (Red, white and blue jersey)

The one I'm missing is the Gregg Lloyd w/ a Super Bowl XXX patch.

When Reebok took over in 2002, Allen Iverson was their "star". If you remember, the Sixers' jerseys had wide shoulders. They fashioned the replica jerseys after those.

As for Adidas, well they bought Reebok in 2006.

I have an old Dale Davis I think pre-FloJo I picked up in Seoul Korea whilst touring with a band back in '93... also had them put together a varsity jacket with the Pacers' ABA logo with the ABA across it (had to sketch it on a napkin) which turned out pretty nicely, but got lost.

Kids have had Reggie/JO and now Danny.

Thinking it's time to get back into the game with a Hibbert.

Serious question fellas

I heard this on the radio in Chicago. "At what age is a man too old to wear a jersey? The overall response was after 30 a man should not wear a team jersey with a current players name on the back

They said the execption was a "throwback" like an old Chuck Person jersey, for exxample

So If I am over 30 and still rock jereseys do I need to grow up?

Thanks

In Chicago, there are a lot of old guys that still rock in their Urlacher jerseys. So I like to wear my Bettis jersey and then ask them if I can pick them up and carry them five yards into the endzone just like the real Jerome did to the real Urlacher.

I guess I'm not very good at making friends.

It happens to be that I was about 27 when I got the Mullin jersey, and I really didn't like the pinstripes so I wasn't going to get another ugly pinstripe jersey. So I was >30 after the change to the current design and I just can't see me wearing one out of the house now. But I may get a Hibbert jersey to wear when I'm watching games or if I ever decide to attend another game in person.

Surely it was an Eddie Johnson #8. Or a Mickey Johnson #8. But not an Anthony Johnson #8.

**** that.

Wear whatever you want (assuming public decency) at what ever age you want.

I wear basketball jerseys a lot less often than football jerseys, but a lot of that is because of the design and logistics of a basketball jersey, and my personal sense of body image in a basketball jersey vs. a football jersey. (However, do wear a T-Shirt under b-ball jerseys, please.)

But, really...what possible difference does it make? I'm going to be just as fat and ugly in a khakis and a golf shirt as I am in jeans and bball jersey (with t-shirt under it).

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Currently in the moving process and My jerseys are in boxes. Just lost a couple of auctions on ebay for a Reggie Dream Team II jersey and swingway away pinstripe shorts. :( Might try and get George and or Collison this season. I dunno though. Money could be tight this season.

I won't get into my football jerseys because they won't go over to well here but I have a lot of those as well.

I've spent and will have spent too much money on basketball and baseball jerseys to stop wearing them in 2.5 years. So I'm gonna keep on wearing them. Even though for the most part I just wear them to games and since I can't go to my NFL team's games I wear them on sundays. Thats just in general though. Sometimes I get crazy and wear them outside of game days.

Do you think there should be a distinction between NBA, MLB, NFL jerseys? I find I wear my Bob Sanders jersey most Sundays because they only play once a week. I also live in Atlanta, so i like to remind people that the SEC is football on training wheels. NBA might be kinda weird unless ur at the game, and MLB is just insane (or ingenius because you always know what ur wearing that day, no decisions).

THoughts?

On topic, bought my first jersey (Psycho-V #50) since reggie late 90's.

Really? I used to respect your judgment so much...

Yeah, I know. I bought my son the Road Grey, and knew immediately as soon as I got home, that I should have gotten myself that instead of the Pinstripe.

Grew up in a Yankee house - my Dad was a fan when he was kid in the 20's and 30's and my brother was a fan when he was a kid in the 50's and 60's. They were my American League team, and the Phillies (my sister moved to Philadelphia when I was 5, and a really, really good friend of the family played in the Phillies organization prior to the Korean War - in Reading with Robin Roberts) were my National League team.

Graig Nettles, Reggie Jackson, Thurman Munson, Catfish Hunter, Ron Guidry - those were the Yankees of my youth. I haven't been a huge baseball fan since probably my late-teens, early 20's, which would have been the mid-80's. I still watch the playoffs, but don't follow the regular season much.

When I was younger, my favorite sport changed with the seasons, but now, the internet kind of has demolished the changing seasons. I pretty much think Pacers every day, now - and with my son playing football now, and basketball year-round, the MLB has faded. Did get to go up to Chicago coupla weekends ago with and catch a Yankee-ChiSox game with my brother and my nephew. Perfect night, lots of offense, and I got to see Mariano Rivera pitch.

For me, at least, baseball still holds at least the vestiges of the mythos that forged the great legendary stories. The perfect weather, the real ability to bond - brother-to-brother, nephew-to-uncle, friend-to-friend, father-to-son. There's no tension for me in sports like waiting for the pitch in a crucial situation. I rarely watch it any more, and I choose the games of basketball and football over it, just for general viewing, however...occasionally baseball games offer me something intangible that I've never really gotten anywhere else.

I've never in my life owned a jersey nor worn a jersey.

Am I weird. Over the years I have had a few Pacers t-shirts, sweat shirts, but on,ly a few a very few.

Guess it is just not my thing

is there anywhere or anytime they're gonna do that big trade in thing again? id love to get myself different jerseys with what i have...
Chances are it'll happen again. But until then take advantage of 50% at home court on current player jerseys. It's pretty much the same discount as the trade-in, maybe a little better.

got an alstott tampa bay bucs replica jersey (went to purdue at same time) and payton manning jersey, which my wife considers "lingerie"...

Apparently, $20 million a year would make anybody good looking.

Also have an old Sabres jersey of Satan that I picked up for Halloween a while back...

Wife has Jerry Rice jersey (big 49ers fan) and a couple of Ky Thoroughblades jerseys (former AAA hockey farm team to San Jose Sharks, now defunct).

Does anyone know where I can get a set of Pacers shoot-around warmups?

I am looking for the Blue/Gold warmups with the snap-off pants and short-sleeved snap-off shirt..

I looked around on the Pacers store , and didn't see anything like what I am looking for ..

I want the short sleeved ones, not the long sleeve.. The old style ones ..
Also ,
I remember back around 91 /92 , I had a nice Bulls Jersey .. It kinda looked like a baseball jersey , with silk type material for the letters on the back that were stitched .. it was awesome . been trying to find some jerseys like it since, and haven't had any luck .. if anyone knows where i could find some like this , I'd appreciate it ..

Also , anyone know the price range on what these go for?

.
Thanks..

I got some at a truck stop that say Ford, have a number 51 on them, and say 'Indiana' rather than 'Pacers'. 3 for 5 bucks. Can't beat that.

I know what type of warm-ups you're referring to, I just don't know where to find. I have a short sleeve and long sleeve authentic shooting jerseys, but they're both pullovers. I think you're looking for a more vintage look. My check a mitchell & ness b/c I've seen old school one from other teams through them, just not the Pacers

Pacers:
White "Miller" (not R. Miller) Pinstripe swingman
Blue "Foster" Pinstripe swingman (got it for like twenty bucks when we switched to the new ones)
Yellow "Granger" Current swingman (traded in a walmart O'Neal for the discount)

Colts:
Blue James (got it on sale 2 years before he left because he was always rumored to leave)
Blue Addai (figured I'd get the new running back, got this on the day of the 2007 AFC championship against the Pats, so it's the good luck jersey, so I save it for the playoffs generally. Thought it was going to be the bad luck jersey after the first half.)

(My wife has a white Manning, and oddly enough it's the only Manning in our whole family. My dad has a white Clark, my mom has a blue Saturday, and my brother has blue Wayne, Harrison, and one other I can't remember, but not Manning.)

IU basketball:
Red 3 (DJ White)
White 1 (on sale so probably Jeffries? the year I was at IU Bassett was 1 so that's who I identified it as)

I'm surprised that more Miller jerseys aren't available.

There are a ton available at the Home Court Gift Shop. They have his rookie road jersey, his road FloJo, and his home Pinstripe.

Although I suggest if someone wanted his FloJo that they'd just go ahead and buy this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Indiana-Pacers-JERSEY-Reggie-Miller-AUTHENTIC-Sewn-48-/380265227292?pt=US_Men_s_Athletic_Apparel&hash=item588992e41c#ht_500wt_928

The ones offered on pacersgear are all Swingmans. This is the Real Deal Holyfield.

There are some very impressive collections on here; I'm jealous!

Here's my strange collection:

Pacers
TJ Ford
Reggie Miller
Dale Davis

Others, likely to draw the ire of some:
Edgerrin James
Barry Sanders
Ken Griffey Jr. (Mariners)
Kobe Bryant ('96 Lakers)
Michael Jordan

The one jersey I really wanted but never saw available: Heywoode Workman.

I also wouldn't cross the street to either get a Pacers autograph or even meet a Pacers player.

My jerseys-

Home Granger (singed)
Homes Stephen Jackson (signed, and a game worn arm band)
Gold pin stripe O'Neal (signed)
Throwback Artest (signed)
Home TJ Ford (signed)
Away Nowitski (signed)

Speaking of the 50% off labor day sale, I just got my home Collison swingman in the mail and noticed the numbers weren't stiched on. The Pacers logo on the front was actually stiched on, but the numbers (both sides) and players name were screen printed. It's a swingman and has swingman tags on it too. Has anyone else ordered any new jerseys lately and found this?

Those are made in-house via heat press. They do it that way in order to create a player that has recently joined the team before the NBA and Adidas can get them shipped out.

They are not "screen printed". They are heat pressed. Screen printing requires ink, and a screen. The letters and numbers have an adhesive on the back of them that activates when intense heat is applied.

You will only get a screen printed jersey if you purchase a replica one. And again, those letters and numbers are applied via heat press as well.

I will take a video of the guys making a jersey for you.

Now, the existing players (Granger, Hibbert, Hansbrough, etc.) all have been brought down by the manufacturer where each letter and number is sewn on (real screen printing if a replica). The only reason the Pacers do it this way is because you can have your jersey made the same day you order it, and if you buy it before the start of a game you get it by halftime.

OK, who has the authentic Pacers jersey signed by Granger on Craigs List for sale? And NO it's not me! Don't PM me about where to find it, if you are interested in seeing the ad just go into the general section of Craigslist for today to find it. That's where I saw it this morning. There is a picture of Granger signing the jersey for whoever.
