Be sure to watch the videos.

This is what Andrew Bogut did up in Milwaukee last year, and I loved it when I heard about it then. I'm very happy to see Roy bringing it to Conseco Fieldhouse.

Is it me....or is Roy a much better PR Front-man for the Pacers then Danny is?

He just comes across as well ( if not better ) as the type of image that the FO wants to have as the "face of the franchise". It just seems like Roy doesn't mind doing this kind of stuff....it just seems more within his "nature" to be like this in front of the camera.

He's just like Dwight Howard off the court--he's a fun-loving, happy all the time, cheerful, and funny guy. Plus he hasn't ever gotten in trouble (knock on wood). He's the perfect professional sports player in terms of how they handle theirselves off the court. I'm VERY glad that we have Roy on the team.

Roy got the belt away from El Pacero! But the best part was the cheesy organ.

well done. good promotion.

I think so, too. Roy enjoys it more. But perhaps Granger still deserves to be the face of the franchise because of this:

Its not just you,

The thing is personalities cant be forced. Danny to me, is just much more reserved in his demeaner

Roy his a very engaging personality, and what a class act

Actually, come to think of it... I am going to film an audition despite the fact I live in Los Angeles... Who knows, maybe the thought of a "Southern California, Laker Hating Pacers Fan" is a good PR move? ;-)

I remember either someone on the Rockets or within the organization doing something similar to this 4 or 5 years ago as well as someone said earlier Andrew Bogut doing that last year. I remember thinking how awesome that is and how amazing that would be for one of our players to do something like that. Gotta love Roy Hibbert and to think some of you guys would even mention him in trade rumors. It also gets annoying seeing the people who are down there on the lower level who could care less about the game. I hope the seats are somewhere on the lower level and it can get the crowd going.

Seriously, if one of you in Indy cannot win/get one of these seats in Area55...I will be severely disappointed.

We're on a website posting about the Pacers every single day...if not hour...if not every other minutes. How can one not classify any of us as anything other then a Die-Hard Pacer fan?

Roy's probably a better PR man because he seems more outgoing, but good or bad, the face of the franchise is nearly always the best player. I said nearly because there are exceptions, like Reggie Miller for instant.

The great thing is the Pacers have both of them! They are both cerebral, both are good players, AND nice guys.

What's more I don't believe they will have any problem coexisting. Meaning neither seems they would be jealous of the other's success. Rather I think they are big fans of the other.

I'm a big fan of both of them!

Glad you guys like Roy's Area 55. We will post tonight's submissions tomorrow, so be sure to check back to see the candidates.

As noted, sweepstakes rules require the 55 winners to be Indiana residents. Wish it didn't have to be that way, but that's how the rules work out. Regardless, good luck to all fans and can't wait to hear how loud Area 55 is this year.

Where is "Area 55"? Hopefully it is right behind the basket like in Milwaukee. I know Bogut has some pretty extensive rules to be in his squad 6 at the Bradley Center like perfect attendance and no sitting during gameplay. Also, he has the ultimate clincher.... The rest of the squad can boot you if you are not fitting in, missing games and not being a team player.

I'd love to see the Pacers add to Roy's effort and get close to a whole section in on the act. I believe Bogut sprung for about 100 seats for his squad 6. I guess what I'm saying is.... I hope 55 is enough to create what is happening in Milwaukee.

Other than that.... Good going, Roy! You da man.

The Rockets have something similar, although I don't think a specific player sponsors it. It's just a section of the crowd that dresses up and goes ape**** during the game with chants and what not. Every game I went to, they were involved in the in game promotions of some sort, so I guess there is a benefit to sitting in those sections.

For the record, I love this idea. Hibbert is a fun guy to have on the team, and we could definitely use the positive PR right now.

You didn't automatically get selected? I would have figured you would have gotten tickets since they sought you out for their promo videos, and I'm assuming you don't have any ties with the organization other than a normal fan relationship.

I envisoned all the other people there either interns/workers/or friends of employees.

I would like to hear more about the shoot.

Nope, I don't officially have a spot & have to audition like every other fan. Although Roy said on Twitter yesterday he might want me to be a judge?!? (I may have some bias towards PD videos, ha)

No real ties other than they've called me a couple times to do things cause I'm crazy. I guess Roy said he wanted "that wrestler guy" to be involved so that's what happened.

This was all Roy's idea by the way, even the Area 55 name, and he approached the Pacers about doing it. I had been talking about my "100 crazy fan" idea to a few of you on here all last season, and he is the perfect guy to do this.

So if you make it as a finalists you have another audition in front of Roy?? What will that consist of?

If you make it as a finalist, then you will be asked to come to Conseco Fieldhouse on Sept. 13 to "perform" in front of Roy. You'll get up to 30 seconds to explain and/or show why you deserve a spot. Roy will be there and he said he is going to bring a couple guests with him.

Also, if you don't know how or don't care to submit your own video online but would like to be a part of Area 55, you can audition for a spot in the final round in front of Roy at Kroger on Wednesday, Sept. 8, from 3-7pm. He will be there, so make sure you show up and tell Roy why you deserve a spot in the final round.

Full details on the Kroger appearance are at http://pacersarea55.com/events.php.

Yeah Roy, as well as some other players in the NBA are very welcomed breath of fresh air. A far cry from the seemingly self absorbed prima donnas that dominated the league through most of the 2000's. I mean seriously could you imagine JO wearing a big goofy hat and pinning El Pacero? Hell no, in his mind he was way too cool for that.

Of course there is still some of that behavior in the league. Primarily from LBJ, such as confiscating tapes of him being dunked on or simultaneously scoffing at Fred Jones in the dunk contests that he refuses to compete in.

Roy may not be the most talented center in the league, but when it comes to people representing the Indiana Pacers he has no equal. No one with a soul could not root for Roy Hibbert.

It's coming in at around 4 minutes long so far... Oh well, good thing I am not eligible in the first place.

I am pretty sure you guys are all going to love it though, which is the real reason I am doing it :)

It's pretty dang funny if I do say so myself.

The only one I can remember is Area 55 (Hibbert's), Dahntay's Department of Defense (Jones) and Dr. Watson's Clue Crew (Watson).

I remember when I first read that Bogut was doing this with the Bucks and I was thinking "how can every team in the league not do this!?!" I think it's a great idea.

It's great to see a Pacer involed with the fans like this. I remember back in 08 thinking that Roy would be too slow for the league only to be proven wrong. Roy keeps getting better and better on the court and off the court he seems like a great person.

I've been thinking this before Bogut started doing this. In fact I wasn't even aware of what Bogut had going on in Milwaukee.

For ten years now I've been sick of that same canned music and artificial noise that all the NBA teams seem to share. I also wanted sections of arena devoted to TRUE fans which likely meant folks who couldn't afford to go to every game. I wanted to see live bands as well, especially in cities that are associated with a particular form of music. Phoenix and San Antonio should have mariachi musicians providing the majority of the music. New Orleans should have a jazz band, Chicago should have a blues band, Washington should allow Chuck Brown INSIDE Verizon center so he could perform go-go during timeouts, Oklahoma City should recruit country musicians, etc. New York has a dozen options. The important thing is to bring atmosphere to NBA games as well as a since of pride and community amongst the fans. Years ago I saw that documentary on Showtime about basketball in the European leagues and I became envious of the energy in the crowds for those games. The fact that Bogut wanted to bring that type of atmosphere (some would say inspired by soccer) to dull NBA arenas is understandable and smart on his part. I'm not a David Stern basher but I wish he would have come up with ideas like these.

I would absolutely LOVE to have a chance to be a part of Area 55 ..I'd be probably one of the loudmouths of the group , gettin buck-whyle cheering my a$$ off .. heh ..

But Alas , I do not have any way of making a video , even if I did .. I NEVER win anything ....

Let's face it I am poor ..

I have been a die hard Pacer's fan for quite a long time (since the year Reggie got drafted), but have never been to an actual game before.. (pretty sad huh?) I hope beyond hope, that I can somehow get a chance to go to a game this season , if finances permit it ..

My grandpa who passed away last summer , was my Pacer's partner.. We always talked about one day going to a game , but never did get that chance .. My grandma started being a Pacer's fan since the Brad Miller days .. lol .. If I do ever get a chance to attend a game , I would have to take her.. She'd go nuts if I come over one day with a ticket to a game ..heh .. She hasn't done much with the family since my gramps passed....

Even if I somehow , magically were able to a video .. even if I won , I'd have to find a way to bring her , because I wouldn't want to go by myself.. and her being a big fan , such as myself .. I wouldn't feel right if she couldnt go ..

Ah well ... maybe someday I'll get to go to a live game ..

Good Luck fellow P.D.'ers ..

I really hope a handful of you guys/gals win.. that would really be nice ..

A VERY BIG THANKS , to Roy for not only being one of my favorite Pacers.. and being a real class-act .. but for providing this opportunity for the fans ..

It not a bad thing to me. Roy brings fun and awareness to the Pacers. Danny is just the silent killer once the gloves come off.

It would REALLY mean a ton to me to receive some feedback.

The entire film follows this similar "parody" style comedy, and it's going to be really fun!

For now, please enjoy this little clip. Don't forget to watch the video in HD (you have to click it manually most of the time)... it looks MUCH better if you do.

I can't wait to hear your thoughts!!!

 that's pretty funny. It's sad b/c I actually feel like that. I mean I have a job and I still do stuff, but during this down time, I'm always looking for Pacers news or Pacers rumors day in and day out.

Are you serious?!

Wow that is so awesome!!!

So I just went to his website and listened to the 9 minute long podcast with Roy...

I heard him say "Ok so I am here on Pacers.com and I see this guy named Tyler Jonsson..."

But then it's edited and cut and moves on to another part of his interview with Roy...

Awww :(

Anyone hear it? What did he say about the video?

He started talking about it when Roy got disconnected, but they got Roy back on pretty quickly so he didn't say much. I'm surprised they edited it out.

Paraphrasing.... "Ok so I am here on Pacers.com and I see this guy named Tyler Jonsson.......It says sneak preview.........He's sitting on the couch.......(chuckle).........Oh, he's back. Yeah, put him on." And he starts talking to Roy again.

Seems like there may have been another fragment in there, but I can't recall it.

Maybe if you hit Michael Grady on twitter he can find you the unedited version.........

They edited a few parts of the conversation, including an early bit when Dakich joked about not being a hardcore Pacers fan. This is what radio stations do all the time for podcasts. They take out the so-called "imperfections". I listened to the conversation live and I was sure the comments Dakich made parts between Roy's two calls to the show were going to be deleted for the podcast. Turns out I guessed right.

Test of dedication? Maybe he thinks that if contestants don't feel the need to show up for a final audition, then maybe he doesn't feel the need to give those people tickets, while those that ARE dedicated to show up, and still be juiced about the contest and the Pacers. Those are who he wants. Just a theory.

It's great that this contest has been such a hit, or at least it seems to be. I hope even some of those that don't win when Roy makes his final picks might think about spending more time in CFH this fall/winter, even if it is just a few games. I didn't submit a video since I already purchased season tix a while ago, but I'm hoping to maybe get to be a seat-filler (because Pacers games are just like the Academy Awards, right?) in Area 55 on those nights when the weather and the roads mess with the plans of those coming from anywhere outside the city.

Best of luck to all PD'ers who submitted something. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you all.

Unfortunately, there were several applicants that didn't make the final auditions. It was amazing how many videos were submitted before the deadline. All of the videos submitted before midnight were considered, but not all of them were uploaded to the site as the web guy was focused on getting the site reset for the final auditions announcement. Several late entries were selected, including Gary V, Zachary Brown and Don Stumpp, among others.

If you were selected, it is crucial you get to Conseco Fieldhouse before 6:30pm as check-in ends at that time. The actual auditions start at 6pm. It is not open to general public, but participants are allowed to bring guests.

Since there are a lot of participants, each audition will last no more than 30 seconds. The audition order is determined by the check-in order with a line lottery occurring at 5pm.

Thanks to everyone for making this process a lot of fun. As you can tell by Roy's tweets, he has been actively involved in the entire process and will be a judge on Monday along w/ a couple of his teammates.

Good luck to all.

Though I can't announce the 55 that made it yet, I can say that only a minority percentage received golden tickets tonight as the bulk of the 55 will be announced tomorrow.

For those that didn't get a chance to attend, you should be proud of the fans that did. They represented the Pacers well. Both Roy Hibbert and Paul George left proud to be a part of the franchise. And on that night, both of those guys were there late tonight finalizing the 55 w/ the rest of the judges.

We have a few decisions to make in the morning, but thank you for the participation and I hope you're as pumped as I am for the first home game.
