I did the math real quick, and the 32 NFL teams add up to $32.7 billion according to this list. According to the most recent lists for the NBA ($10.6b), MLB ($14.7b), and NHL ($6.7b), those three leagues add up to $32 billion COMBINED. The 32 NFL owners could collectively sell and in turn purchase the entirety of the other three leagues and still end up with a slightly less valuable product. The average values for the teams shows a staggering difference. The average NFL team is valued at $1Billion, NBA is $353 million, MLB is $490 million, and the NHL is $223 million. The Jacksonville Jaguars, valued at $725 million and ranked last in the NFL, are more valuable than all 30 NBA teams, all 30 NHL teams, and all but 5 of 30 MLB teams. What does all this mean? Probably not much, but I did think it was interesting, and it certainly demonstrates that this country LOVES its football.

What it means is that baseball is not the American pass time any more, but football.
