1 Recommend The NFL opened the 2010 season right where it left off last season -- with exploding TV viewership.

The Dallas Cowboys' defeat of the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday night in the Hall of Fame Game earned the highest rating for a preseason telecast in six years.

NBC had the night's most-watched telecast, with the Red Sox-Yankees telecast on ESPN among its competition. The game drew a 7.6 overnight rating and a 13 share, the best performance for a preseason game since a Tennessee-Dallas contest on Aug. 30, 2004 drew 8.2/13.

Sunday night's game was up 31% from last year's Hall of Fame Fame when Buffalo and Tennessee squared off.

The NFL drew record TV ratings last season, with Super Bowl XLIV becoming the most-watched TV show of all time with 153.4 million viewers and a 45.0 rating.
