I'll give him one more meaningless summer league game before I pronounce his career over.

Nah way too early, but he is struggling no doubt!

I think he's just having to adjust to not having the ball in his hands on offense and adjusting to the speed of the NBA on defense... so yes it's a bit underwhelming for the #2 pick, like all rooks got to give them time to adjust.

FWIW, summer league is generally not a good predictor of regular season success.

Remember a couple years ago: Marco Bellineli went off like a bomb and then busted during the regular season. Dontae Greene scored 40 in his first game and then got traded before the season started. Anthony Randolph obliterated everyone and looked like the next great PF during his summer league.

Steph Curry last summer looked pretty ordinary. He shot the ball poorly and looked absolutely nothing like the player that he'd eventually be about 9 months later. It doesn't surprise me that a guy like Turner is struggling in summer league. As someone else pointed out, Turner is going to need an adjustment period the same way Curry did.

Neither of these two guys are freak athletes who are just going to physically dominate guys in glorified pickup games (which is what summer league actually is). They are guys who need to get a feel for a system. Once they get their timing down and understand the guys they're playing with, they're fine.

I'd bet he's already heading for the NY streetball one (if there is one)... :-p

Its still way to early to say that.

Players in the summer league that have been great went on to bust in the NBA and players that did average to bad turned out to be good players.

I'll be the first to admit that I never would have thought in a zillion years that I'd be stoked that we drafted Lance Stephenson instead of Evan Turner.

It's still super early though...

I'll still go out on the edge and say, he's gonna be better then Darko...

Favors has 5 fouls at halftime. Bust.

George was 0-7 from 3 yesterday. He's a bust, too.

Told you guys this draft sucked. Just wait until John Wall hits the court.

Oh, for those of you without brain cells - [/green]

He's clearly a bust. They should just trade him to us for Paul George and try to salvage something from the situation.

I never put too much hype into Summer League..I'll never forget when the Raps signed Yogi Stewart to 4 years - $26 million deal because he tore up summer league...

Yogi was one of the worst signings ever

For what it is worth I believe 15 of these 18 comments were sarcastic, it is hard to tell though. Summer league ball is pretty meaningless. If you tear it up it means you are good enough to make a roster. It is no indicator of success.

It's a tough call, I can see the case for both sides. Sadly the interwebs are filled to the rim with nutjobs who say stuff you wish was ultra-dry sarcasm, so you can never be sure.

This is why green font exists after all.

Personally I see Holiday and Turner out there and think a lot of East teams are in for trouble. That tandem is going to crush backcourts with their defense, Turner is going to rebound like a madman from the SG/PG spot, and he and Holiday are going to get down to the other end in a hurry off that and punish teams.

I give Turner till about DEC before it starts to really click.

They are likable guys so I'm happy for them, but given the whole Holiday is the guy to take over Tyler rant pre-draft last year I'm also pretty ticked off.

And this doesn't even include Speights. Man are the Pacers going to be looking up at a lot of teams.

Bump.

Just thought that I would comment that if the Pacers had tanked last season, which I will admit I wanted, we could have possibly been able to draft Turner. I am willing to admit that I was wrong in urging the team to tank, because I now realize that tanking doesn't guarantee anything. I know that he is a rookie, but he looks more and more like a bust now.

Who knows at this point, but Paul George could be better than Turner.

He's 30 games into his career. Give him a year or two at least before even considering the "bust" tag....

Especially since he just dropped 23 on 9 of 12 from the field on Phoenix last night.

anybody can have one good game. We'll see if Turner can do it consistently.

Where would Evan Turner go if the draft were redone today? Has he stunk it up badly enough to drop out of the top-five in favor of the more "upside" guys?

without a doubt. Bledsoe would be picked ahead of him, as well as Landry Fields.

Wow. Silly me, I thought someone was bumping this thread to take note of last night's game. Of course, we could always table this and revisit it again when Philly passes us in the standings.

Talk about an overreaction...Landry Fields will peak as a role player on an elite team and nothing better than that. Evan Turner still has elite potential.

Seriously, no rookie is ever a bust. Just because some plays may take longer to adjust doesn't mean they are a bust. Now in two years if nothing has changed then yes he is a bust, but calling him a bust would be like calling George a bust. No one here is calling George a bust.

a Rookie QB in the NFL isnt normaly a starter. They rushed leaf

It was a bit more commonplace to start rookies back then. Even had he had sat for a few years and let Veterans like Jim Harbaugh start ahead of him, it would've taken a miracle for him to convert himself over to a healthy, successful attitude.

He wasn't rushed. He was not mentally fit to play the game of football.
