Fayetteville point guard Omar Cook has signed a 10-day contract with the Portland Trail Blazers, making him the sixth NBDL-to-NBA “Gatorade Call-Up” of the season.

Most of you probably recall he was one of the last cuts in Pacers training camp.

You can't teach Brewer's speed and quickness and defensive ability.

True, but its also very difficult to teach court vision to a fourth string PG.

I'd be very surprised if Brewer ever moves up to be the third string PG for the Pacers. You know what - the Pacers are really screwing him because if they would just cut him he would be allowed to go down to the NBDL or perhaps the ABA then he'd get a chance to play and maybe develop a little bit.

All I see from him when he gets into the games is that he's a long, long way from being a legit NBA guard.

Further, if you're going to let Ron initiate the offense, the Brewer MUST develop his shot - and that's even farther away from NBA caliber - or else you're back to playing four-on-five on the offensive end (three-on-five if Foster's in the game.)

I'll give you this, however: at least he's cheaper than Bender.
