Men arrested after break in at Heinz Field
Sunday, May 23, 2010
By Kaitlynn Riely, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Three men were arrested this morning after police said they scaled a fence to enter Heinz Field.

Shazad Hosi Mehta, 28, of Elmhurst, Ill., Adil A. Minocherhomjee, 22, of La Hoya, Calif., and Neville Noshir Medhora, 27, of Austin, Texas, were charged with criminal trespass and conspiracy to commit criminal trespass.

At around 7 a.m. this morning, Heinz Field security reported they saw three men attempting to climb Gate B into the stadium, Sgt. Patrick Knepp of the Pittsburgh Police's Zone 1 station said.

Security reported the men were unable to climb that gate so they moved to Gate A, where they "used themselves like human ladders" and made it inside the park, Sgt. Knepp said.

Mr. Mehta and Mr. Medhora made it inside the field, while Mr. Minocherhomjee stayed outside the gate, police said. The Pittsburgh Police were called to the scene, and Sgt. Knepp said when they approached , the men started running across the field. They were detained at gunpoint, Sgt. Knepp said.

Sgt. Knepp said the men told police they were trying to get a wallet they had left in Heinz Field.

"The story's not credible," Sgt. Knepp said, since the last game played in Heinz Field was in December.

They were released on $5,000 unsecured bond by magistrate Richard Olasz, Sgt. Knepp said. They are due in city court Thursday morning for a hearing.

Heinz Field's security reported no vandalization or damage to the facility, Sgt. Knepp said. The Pittsburgh police have notified the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security about the incident, he said. They have increased patrols on the North Shore around PNC Park, Heinz Field and Rivers Casino.

What's up with the names?

And the fact that they are from all over the country.

Weird.

It turned out that Heinz Field was underage and drunk, so no charges were filed...

I'd like to see an address or connection to Elmhurst explained. There are certainly some other Steelers fans in Elmhurst... its probably 75% Bears fans, 20% Packers fans, 5% Steelers fans.

It will be interesting to see if this was just a stupid, drunken prank or something far more sinister.

Apparently it was good enough to get them a low bail number and out of jail.
