SALT LAKE CITY -- Indiana Pacers first-round draft pick David Harrison sprained his left knee during an 88-84 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday in the Rocky Mountain Revue.

Harrison, a 7-foot center, suffered a Grade 1 sprain of the medial collateral ligament, according to coach Rick Carlisle.

"David had a very productive week here in Utah," Carlisle said. "We'll know more after he has an MRI, but we do not expect this to be a serious injury that keeps him off the floor for an extended period of time."

Harrison is scheduled to fly to Indianapolis this morning to be examined by the Pacers' medical staff. Harrison will not return to the Pacers' summer league team, which has games remaining today and Saturday.

Harrison was injured with 7:37 remaining in the third quarter. After a timeout, he returned to the court and finished the game with 22 points and three rebounds.

I just hope he doesn't turn out to be injury-prone.

I'm not worried. Harrison still has a ways to go if he wants to win the yearly "Most Injuries" pot from Bender.

You mean the Derrick McKey trophy?

Harrison isnt seriously hurt. He could play tommorrow if it was a playoff game or something. A lot of people are gunning for him in the summer league. Other summer leaguers have something to prove against him. He has nothing else to prove by playing in the summer league. He has the game to play in the nba.

True, but he needs to get his head up to the level of his game.

Grade I sprain of the MCL is the least severe right.

What was J.O.'s that he suffered in the Pistons series

Seems to me he is not too soft on injuries if he can still pull 22 points and 3 boards on a sprained knee.

Harrison hopefully will be a steal.

I think he's going to revolutionize the C position.

I think he's going to revolutionize the C position.

I heard he's going to have a Garnett-like impact....

David Harrison, who will need at least three weeks of rest to heal the medial collateral ligament in his left knee, said he realized it was best not to risk further injury by continuing to play.
