Question: Is the Pacers' brass concerned that Jamison Brewer's sprained right big toe could threaten his career? Could he have been put on the injured list for having a bad hair day instead? (Don from Los Angeles)

Answer: Good one, Don! So far, bad hair days don't qualify for excuses to go on the injured list. This gives me the opportunity to tell a story from the Pacers' game at Cleveland on Dec. 30. Many fans think Brewer looks like Jesus, and as he was driving downcourt in that game someone shouted, "Take it to the manger, Jamison!"

You'd like Brewer, by the way. Always friendly and somewhat innocent, which is surprising for someone who grew up in a difficult environment as he did. I'll always remember him for the way he greeted Donnie Walsh on the first day of training camp: "Whassup, D-Wal"? He wasn't trying to be disrespectful. Just being himself.

Take it to the manger, Jamison!

But man my favorite is that D-Wal part
