Assume the Cavs can't get Amare, what's the best backup trade between, Jamison, Maggette, Troy Murphy? Which is the most likely to happen?

Chad Ford (1:16 PM)
I think they would rank it 1. Jamison 2. Murphy 3. Maggette However, it's still unclear whether Jamison is available. And I can't understand why the Cavs would be interested in Maggette unless LeBron is telling them he's leaving and they are trying to replace him. That's not a good fit. So I'd probably go with Murphy. He's the stretch four they're looking for, has only one more year left on his contract and I do think the Pacers would take a package of Z and Hickson for him.

Chad, I'm dedicated to your chat. I'm writing in a question with my awful service here at mardi gras. What I want to know is: what's the latest on the pacers??? Any new Murphy info? Any possible smaller trades in the works?? Thanks, you're the best.

Chad Ford (1:19 PM)
Pacers waiting right now. Cavs, Bucks and Kings all have interest. All three can offer cap relief. I think it comes down to who will give up the best asset -- either a first round pick or a young player. Cavs have Hickson or a very late first round pick. Bucks have Ilyasova or a late lottery to mid first round pick. Kings could offer Donte Greene.

Is there a chance the Pacers send Earl Watson to the Lakers for basicly nothing?
Chad Ford (1:52 PM)
Yes.

Strange - Chad deleted that last one from his chat but it was there.

Yes.
This would surprise me ( cuz this comes out of the blue )....yet, it wouldn't really surprise me. Unfortunatly, it's all about the $$$ for now.

I can't wait for a Ford/AJ PG rotation :suicide4:

This would only make us appreciate AJ more when he is on the floor.

That Earl Watson thing is fine, but nothing is still something, right?

I'd wouldn't mind it, Earl has a young child and wife there in California. I want AJ to be handed the keys anyway. You have TJ who can play the position and Deiner. I mean even Luther Head can give you minutes there.

Yeah....for Watson and his family, it would be a good thing.

But "Nothing is something" when we are over the LT......but "Nothing isn't something" when we aren't over the LT.

If we were over the LT this season, then getting back nothing would be a good thing....but if a Team is interested in Watson and we are in a position to not trade him....we should get something back for him..mainly cuz he's an asset that another team is interested in acquiring.

Unless this is a move to clear a roster space for a "2 for 1" deal that the Pacers may be getting in place to make....then I don't see the reason to do this.

I'm not sure how realistic "nothing" is. The Lakers have two TPE's, but neither is big enough to get Watson.

They'd have to send us Brown or Farmar, and I don't see that happening...or we'd have to package Watson with somebody to take back Vujacic, and I don't see that happening.

I suspect he took it down, because he re-thought the answer.

If I had my choice I would take Milwaukee's 1st. It would probably be lottery protected though.

Wells tweeted that Milwaukee is no longer interested. It's in the other thread.

One thing you are leaving out is PLAYING TIME. This is where moving Watson, Ford, Dun or Troy can actually be productive because they would help force JOB to play a younger player more.

The team isn't backlogged with high level talent, but they do have some playing time logjams with lower talent and developing talent.

That maybe one of the reasons...but I'm actually thinking that if Watson was moved....that we would have room to make a "2 for 1" move.

LOL at "forcing JO'B to play the younger Players".....if Murphy was gone.....I can totally see Granger starting at the PF spot for the rest of the season.

trade checker works, for what's it worth.

wait, trade exceptions can be combined, right?

hmm, maybe it's a bug in realgm trade checker. the trade won't go through in espn's trade machine.

Are you taunting Count or are you serious? ;)

No Trade Exceptions are unique "cap holes" meant to complete a previously "uncompleted" trade. Combining them (or players to them) would be combining two different trades after the fact, a bit no-no.

When you make a deal you have the RIGHT to take back at least as much salary as you sent out. If you choose not to do that at the time you are given up to 1 year to fill up that gap with other ALREADY CREATED contracts (ie, no FA signings, but pulling guys from waivers is okay).

When you choose to delay the completion of your deal like this, you forfeit your RIGHT to take back 125% of the salary you sent out. You can only do that if you finish the trade at the time. The TE hole basically is just a dollar for dollar replacement "window".

Another reason could be another PG coming to the Pacers in a trade.

Another reason is Bird likes TJ and wants him playing.

Another reason is AJ getting more PT as b/u PG than 3rd PG bench sitter.

nah, i was just wondering why the trade checker let it through. i'm not sure why i thought trade exceptions could be combined, but you're right it doesn't make sense. good stuff.

Yes, all valid reasons.....I'm  that it's to clear room for a "2fer1" type deal :buddies: ( yes, I'm that desperate for a move that I'm hoping for something like this ).
