According to Mike Wells TJ is backup tonight.

If it's not a precaution to Price's injury, then JOB is officially an idiot.

edit: it's not a precaution...

I really really really really X10, do not understand this coach. He wants to go with the vets? Seriously? SERIOUSLY?

Of the possible combinations of point guards, that was the absolute dumbest decision JOB could have made. And he made it.

It's really amazing. Really amazing. The one good decision this coach made all season, he takes back.

Kemo

Jimmy just said on tv that he was going back with Watson and Ford as PG's. He said the reason why Price was played the last month was so they could see what they had in Price. Now, they know.

I've said this b4 and I'll say it again "O'Brien reminds me of a used car salesman who will say whatever to get people to believe him."

We know what we've got with Watson and Ford too and Price is better.

Jim is just a terrible coach who makes terrible decisions.

Why on earth would you be not playing Price. Really? Because we're gonna make a playoff push? Seriously...I mean first of all the team is better with Price in.

Only one of the point guards we'll be here next season. Price. So let's not develope him.

Maybe the point is to lose as many games as possible.

I can't wait to see the JOB sympathizers response to this one.

What the **** does that mean?

And if so does that mean he didn't impress enough to boot Earl "I'm the definition of mediocrity" Watson and TJ "I'm gonna shoot it" Ford to behind him in the rotation?

This is ****ing dumb, and it is the final ****ing straw to me as a Pacer fan, I won't attend another game that has this mother ****er as our head coach. He is a moron, and I have more coaching sense in my left nut then he has in his whole body.

Yeah, I'm pissed, but until someone can explain to me how this decision or his *** backwards logic for it makes any sense, I'm not coming down off this ledge. He's taking away maybe the ONLY bright spot we've had all season. Just ****ing terrible. Is he doing this on purpose to see how much we can take?

Isn't Price on a one-year contract? That may be the answer.

No he's on a three year contract. And we expect he'll be a part of Indiana's future.

Watson is on the one year contract.
And Indy doesn't want TJ.

Honestly...I should have known.

Dumbest mistake JOB could make would make would be the TJ/Watson backcourt. Of course he would do that.

The only way this makes sense is if a team wants to either see Watson/TJ once more before the trade deadline *so doubtful* or the Pacers really are tanking.

JOB is supposed to keep fan interest by playing uptempo.

AJ Price moves the ball up the court faster than all the point guards.

By far, the majority of fans want AJ to start.

Dangerously close till the standard 4th quarter collapse... lol

It was awesome watching Mike Dunleavy run predetermined paths that had nothing to do with the game. Is he a robot?

Another 20-5 run to end the game... or something close to that. It was bad.

Another great coaching decision to bench AJ in favor of TJ. WTF Jim, WTF.

Another bad loss. I hope they lose every game from here on out just to see how bad it can get, and how long Larry will keep Jim.

LG33
02-09-2010, 10:32 PM
I didn't think T.J. was that bad.

Thesterovic
02-09-2010, 10:32 PM
Seriously, where the hell has the smart Mike Dunleavy gone? He's turned into a chucker with not only slow, but undecisive defense.

Jim is a puzzle. No Price, showing signs of benching Roy by playing Solo, Roy in the high post, plus switching from small to big on every single dead ball.

Plus, theres a reason that the Shannon Browns, Jermaine O'Neals, Joe Johnsons (JOB should remember this), and Jared Dudleys of the world go from riding the benches on bad teams to being solid, or main contributors on good teams. Bad coaches can't evaluate talent. Josh, and maybe AJ may get sick of this mess and go to a team, and become extremely solid players, and make us look really stupid. That's what I can really imagine, especially with Josh. He has shown no signs of being bad, or bad enough to be a bench warmer, he just has never had the chance. And if he ever gets to play with a good coach, he may be a solid role player off the bench, performing very well in the playoffs, just like Shannon Brown and Glen Davis (although for injury reasons) did.

Sookie
02-09-2010, 10:32 PM

He wasn't that bad...as a scorer off the bench. He stunk as a point guard, as usual.

It was the same old TJ, ballhog for 20 seconds of the shot clock run into the lane jump in the air and hope someone catches it or there is a foul called. On the defensive side he ran under every screen on Kirk. Just stupid PG play that doesn't even work at the YMCA. It was horrible. Luckily he made enough jump shots to keep Jim happy, even if his teammates were like... WTF man...

Either he or Neil Funk said with the players on our roster, we should be better. Which is something many of us can agree with. We have a well balanced team, but it's clearly obvious that it's the coach.

Other than that I couldn't stand listening to them.

lets not completely freak out about price benching...tj has arguably earned PT in the last two games, and its not clear AJ outplayed Watson in the last month

it also has to be said that Hibbert was bad when he came in the fourth with about 6 to play: missed shot, missed shot, TO, in order

Murphy was no better, giving up that dunk was pathetic under 2 mins...

Watching that fourth was disheartening all around

Are you freaking serious?

What about the completely terrible play T.J. had through the first half of the season? He didn't earn any PG minutes..he earned scorer off the bench minutes. Two games with more turnovers than assists in a row..yes..that's a PG earning some time.

What about the fact that the Pacer's aren't going into the post season *they are a better team with Price in anyway*

And yes, A.J. Price is clearly more talanted than Watson. Where the Pacer's are at this point, he needs to be playing over the other two.

As I said. I don't know why I'm suprised. The dumbest decision JOB could have made was to have Price be the third string PG. It should have been obvious he was going to do that.

Maybe this is just me, but the stat line says Granger had a great game, a double double for him is quite rare, but when watching the game I thought he barely had an impact. It seemed like the PG's weren't looking for him, and he wasn't really going for the ball that much. Pretty lax on the defensive end. It seemed like all night long the ball was being moved away from him. In the 4th I thought Danny didn't really assert himself very much.

I didn't really want to post this, because I'm tired of it and it's a broken record.

But with about five minutes left, we were down four points or so. We had several exchanges back and forth, Roy missed two shots and had a turnover, but we made at least three stops in a row. That unit was:

Watson
Rush
DJones
Granger
Hibbert

Sound familiar? I won't go there.

Anyway, it just seemed to me they were very close to finding some rhythm on the offensive end. They had brought the game to within two points. I think this unit could have won the game for us.

Nope. Murphy in. Roy out.

Then Dunleavy in. DJones out.

Then, down by six. Game over.

No, no McKeyFan...this can't be right. Rush is an enigma. He's timid. He coasts through life. He doesn't shoot enough. He's a bust. His defense isn't even all that good (yes, someone on the board did say that recently). No way he's part of our best lineup.

Simply put though Roy wasn't getting it done offensively in the fourth quarter after the pacers went to him late and coming out of a couple of timeouts at the very least it was time to give the bal to someone else. he shot 4 of 13, which is horrible for a post player.

Unfortunately, it's so bad for me ( and I'd guess many of you ) that I don't really care if they win or lose. I don't want the Team to intentionally lose games so that we tank.....I want the Team to always put their all into winning while being as competitive as can be...but at the same time, I'm not going to say that I don't mind that the Pacers lose games since losing games improves our chances in the lottery.

One more thing, are we so numb to losing games that we don't care about creating a Post-Game thread now?

It was a good night. We lost while Philly, Detroit and Sacramento won.

John Wall, baby. ;)

If we stay focused we have a legit shot at finishing with the 2nd worst record in the league this year.

I've been down on Dunleavy all year but he did have one bright spot that I remember. Towards the end of third quarter, after a Bulls made basket, he seemed to look right at TJ, and then instead of passing it to him, inbounded the ball right to I believe it was D Jones... This was after TJ had shot the ball the previous 5 possessions in a row.

Dun was horrible. Maybe he's still hurting, but he sure isn't the same guy he was a couple years ago. The Bulls got away with playing a guy 6 inches shorter on some possessions. Blech.

I can deal with Roy's growing pains. He was barely missing on several shots, and this is a fine time to just let him get a better touch down low.

Rush is MIA on offense, and it wasn't because of missed shots. He's really frustating to watch on that end.

He doesn't play well with TJ. Expect the MIA to continue so long as TJ is in the lineup.

That's not fair. It's not like Dun's play was much better with TJ out.

Yep, I noticed this exact same thing too. It seemed to be an obvious slight to me.

Also, playwise, I think Dunleavy has become a complete liability at both ends this year.

I'd rather give these minutes to anyone else at this point, honestly.

I meant Rush, sorry.

Dunleavy clearly doesn't want to play with him either. He quite often gets visibly frustrated with him. But to be honest, he (Dun) doesn't deserve the minutes. And it wouldn't be that bad to give TJ Dun's minutes.
