Hibbert is too slow to play against Big Ben, we need Murph at center so we can stretch the defense.

It will be hard to watch the Pacers lose this one. Geez, it is sad what has happened to both these once proud contenders :(
Well, it is sad about the Pacers... I kinda feel a bit of jaded satisfaction that the Pistons are going down with us.

My how the mighty have fallen.

An atrocious starting front court for Detroit. I expect Roy to have a big game. No way can 5'4", 75 year old Ben Wallace even attempt to defend him.

Just to p*ss off all the "John Wall" hopefuls.....after JO'B giving the Team a "pep" talk....I wouldn't be surprised if we totally crush the Pistons. Of course, we'll just revert back to our old ways in a game or two where we are totally inept on the Offense/Defense side....but this game....we're going to win.

Also...my nomination for "Scrub from the other Team that has a career scoring night against the Pacers" is Jason Maxiell.

Yea, maybe. Who knows what the hell the Pacers will do anymore. I expect Hibbert to be benched to start the game, and that might work out in our favor as it might get him pumped up. Of course, it all depends on if our other players decide to feed the Hibbert down in the post. Maybe this will be the 1 out of every 4 games they do that.

Why exactly did Rush get pulled after just scoring yet another nice 3 , and Watson put back in ? early foul trouble or what?

Seems stupid to pull him/rest him .. when he clearly seems to have the hot hand..

One thing I have learned... is that you NEVER pull someone out who catches fire.. IT can totally make them cold comin back in ..

I caught that, too. Saturday, in the Hornets game, Bavetta called Dun for a delay of game warning for doing pretty much Jerebko did and Dun was expecting the call. Unfortunately, Bavetta was having none of it. I really thought Bavetta was going to call us for five seconds.......

it is what it is. We got royally whipped tonight.

Indiana's lack of defensive intensity actually plays into their hands against us...because we simply do not have enough players that can make wide open shots. We rely so much on drives to the basket.

Indiana lazily sitting in the paint and refusing to come out and guard anybody on the perimeter is pretty much the perfect strategy against us.

I wasn't going to be happy or upset no matter the result of this game, because nobody is pretending that this current group will be together more than another two weeks. It's basically a high priced summer league team. Very little chemistry.

Right, because it must be lazy defense, not the Pacers actually executing the game plan, you know: keep the Pistons from driving into the paint since they can't hit the jumper....? If they were just "sitting" there we'd be getting a lot of 3 second calls.

But hey man, if it makes you feel better tonight, be my guest. ;)

I'm not saying it to make myself feel better. You think its fun admitting nobody on this roster can shoot?

Indiana packs in the lane and typically begs the other team to beat them from the outside. That's generally how their defensive gameplan goes. Usually it works against them. Not so tonight.

I suppose it's not any fun. You know we feel your pain, our team isn't all that good either. Rip can shoot, so it's not true that you've got nobody.

I'm amused 'cause your initial post just had that first line about getting whipped and I thought, "Man, that's unusually short and to the point of Kstat," and then you subsequently edited it to add all those qualifiers.

I think a strong argument could be made that no GM in the league has been worse than Joe Dumars over the past three or four years. Mediocre drafting, bad trades, crippling signings... just terrible. Let's hope he's learned from his past disasters and doesn't blow Detroit's lottery pick in the upcoming draft.

I would actually agree with that.

I don't think anything can be said about his drafting though, I think he's done a fairly good job in that department, though I don't understand why he drafted two players at the same position.

For me though, the Charlie V and Ben Gordon signings are crippling. I realize they score and look good doing it, but neither are good defenders and you overpaid for them both. They will be your teams Troy Murphy and Mike Dunleavy moving forward. They just aren't the type of players you want to be giving that much money to, over that many years.

The 8.5 million he will be making 5 years from now will be, especially when you add Ben Gordons 13.2 million to that. If you read what I said, I mentioned they will be your teams Murphy and Dunleavy "moving forward" as in, the future. I realize 6.5 isn't crippling now, still a bad contract though and considering it will only get worse as each year passes, I think it deserves the title of crippling.

Three Trophies of the Game

Bronze: Troy Murphy
He deserves some credit as well. His defense on the opposing big men was pretty good. He picked up 5 fouls, but he was aggressive in the paint and on offense was in or around the post more than he usually is. He had 4 offensive rebounds and 11 total. He finished with 16 points which gave him another double-double. Games like these, we should be grateful to have him here.

Silver: Danny Granger
In the first half he really struggled shooting, but once the second half came he was really on fire scoring. He was perfect at the line (14/14). He finished with 25 points total. He defended very well. We need more games like this one out of Danny in the future.

Gold: Brandon Rush
He shot well during the whole game. Mainly in the first half. He was 6/10 from the field and 5/8 for 3. He finished with 19 points and really looked confident when he shot the ball. He too defended well. We need to see more of this Brandon Rush moving forward into the future. It looks to me that he will continue to be the starting SG (much deserving of it).

CREDIT: Roy Hibbert, Mike Dunleavy, A.J. Price, and Dahntay Jones.
