I saw Derrick McKey at Benihana at Keystone at the Crossing tonight eating at the Hibachi grill LOL. I had to do a double take and indeed it was him.

Can't say that this would one-up you, but I believe I saw Billy Keller actually driving a "Billy Keller Basketball Camps" van on I-465 yesterday. Couldn't do the double take without endangering life and limb.

Yeah, I've seen that same van with Mr. Keller pulling out of the Fieldhouse garage late after a game, once.

You didn't sign any contracts with him, did you?

That would explain the winning streak... :chin:

I tend to like these threads. It reminds me of the time I was at Circle Center mall and saw all the Pistons. I was standing behind Rasheed Wallace at the Asian Wok. Dude looked pencil thin...very long but not as tall and not as big and physical as I expected.

Thats Cool!

Did you ask Derrick McKey if he could help teach defense and why Rush plays like him?

I saw the police escorted Ravens buses on 465 yesterday at 4:45. They must have stayed up north, instead of downtown. Saw them about 71st street exit and 465 headed north on 465.

Just before the start of the game yesterday I had to make a phone call so I went up to the concourse. As I made my call I for some reason am inclined to turn around. I then see Slick Leonard walking towards me. I didn't want to bother him as I was sure he was on his way to put on the headset. But it's SLICK LEONARD! I said "Mr. Slick Leonard?" and he stopped and turned towards me and I asked him if I could shake his hand, thanked him for all he does/has done for pacers basketball and asked if I could bother him for an autograph if he has the time. It all took place over roughly 15 sec. He's a very very nice man and I could tell that even tho he was on his way to work he didn't mind taking a few sec for a fan. I tend to regress into a child like mentality when in the presence of people I look up to in sports. But I love it
So I got my handshake and my Slick Leonard autograph. tWas a very nice experience. And THAT, my friends, is why you always bring a Sharpie with you to sporting events.

Why would they be heading North from 71st street? Shouldn't they be heading to the stadium around that time? Were they lost? lol

**Edit** This topic reminds me, years ago I saw Rik Smits in the weirdest place. Effingham, Illinois. I was going to St. Louis and we stopped in Effingham at a Cracker Barrel. Sure enough, I see this giant man walking out and it was freakin Rik Smits. What a random damn place to run into a former Pacers player, no?

Oh man, Effingham sucks. Of all places for Rik to be...maybe there was a dirt bike race there or something that day/weekend.

That was the same reasoning I had, I've always known that's a hobby of his. It just seemed so stinking random.

Yeah, talk about random places to see Pacers. I was a the Wabash Yacht Club (Bar at Purdue now out of business) and Scott Pollard was there. I believe it was a football game day, but I can't remember which. It was just prior to him no re-signing with the team. He was much thinner and more athletic looking than on television.

I also met Scott at the place were I used to work, I even got a picture with him ;) close to the same place I went to eat lunch with my girlfriend(panera bread in 86th and michigan road) and saw a big guy coming out of a Jeep Rubicon with big tires, for my surprise the guy that was coming out of the car was no other than Ron Artest, this was like a week before the brawl when nobody really care about him.

I just thank God it was Pollard & not Dale Davis, could you imagine what I would have said then? Nevermind, don't think what I would say then.

I could think of a few things, none of which are appropriate for Pacers Digest.

While I was downtown yesterday getting Hornets autos, Rob Lowe, Archie Manning, and TJ Ford (dunno what he was doing there) were all there at the same hotel the hornets were at. Lowe an Ford both signed for us but Archie snubbed us

I knew TJ helped the opposition, but I think he's taking things a little too far.

2 Reggie Miller stories-

When I was an intern at the Pacers I walked into my boss's office and was stunned to see Reggie in there signing posters. I froze in my tracks and my heart skipped a beat. (Reggie was my hero, afterall).

My boss just said, "Parker, this is Reggie - Reggie this is my intern Parker." Reggie reached out to shake my hand and said "Hey, nice to meet you." Completely aghast and tongue tied, I shook his hand. I probably mumbled something back but my mind has blocked out the memory. What I *do* remember is immediately turning to leave the office and, being desperate to say *something* of value, I blurted out "These are pretty cool posters." Reggie said nothing.

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

My other Reggie story is actually my wife's. At her Bachelorette party in Broad Ripple, she bumped into Reggie outside of a club. Her friends had her wearing one of those "Suck for a Buck" shirts - which is that you give the bride-to-be a dollar and you get a lollypop that is glued to her shirt.

Her friends asked Reggie to suck for a buck, and he took a lollypop but didn't give a dollar! Cheap *******!!

Ok another bathroom story....

Back in the mid 90's during one of the legendary Pacers/Knicks series, the wife and I went to Loews (the movie theater, not the home improvement store) at Lafayette Square on a Saturday night to take in a flick. This was the off day in the series or I would have been at MSA obviously. Anyways, Loews had a rather large restroom I remember, and as I walked in this guy on his way out walking towards the door damn near runs me over. I mean literally runs into like I'm not even there. I wheel around and am about to go off on the offending party when I realize i'm staring at some guys belt buckle. Now in true slow motion movie fashion, my eyes start their journey upward (I'm 5'8" btw) passing the worlds biggest gold chain, until I am literally looking up at the biggest, meanest, ugliest, scariest MF'er I have ever laid eyes on. At that point I realize it is none other than Anthony Mason. Not to be deterred I have the loudest F you coming out of my mouth, except it sounded just like "Excuse me sir". At which point I wheeled back around and immediately made my way to the urinal to deposit what had just been scared out of me.

On an aside, apparently it was a team function, as the entire Knick squad, coaches and all were there. Saw Ro Blackmon, Derek Harper, and Starks the minute I walked out. Now had it been Harper or Starks bumping me in the restroom, it would have been on. My contempt for both exists well into this day.

The one and only non fan event run in with a Pacer I've ever had was my brother and I met Rik Smits at a stereo show at the State Fairgrounds during his playing days with the Pacers. He wasn't there for any special event he was just there checking out everything like we were. He was with a gal that was about 5'2" too. They looked odd together.

A few Pacer stories:

-- I ran into Dunleavy in May of 2008 at a car dealership on the Northside of Indy. I had dropped my car off for service and was killing time by walking around and I look over and saw a taller guy who I immediately recognized. Dunleavy and his then fiancee/now wife, Sarah, were looking at new SUV's. We spoke for about 10 minutes and he was super nice and friendly and Sarah even took a picture of us on my cell phone. From what I could tell, Dunleavy didn't buy an SUV.

-- I've run into numerous Pacers at Circle Centre when I used to work downtown, including Granger, Fred Jones, Scot Pollard, Dale Davis, Rashad Wright, etc.

-- I've also seen Pollard at a few other places around town, including the Murat last Spring for a Jim Gaffigan comedy event and at the Colts-Raiders game from a few years ago.

-- I live in the Fishers area and have seen a few guys around including Croshere, Reggie, Vern Fleming, etc. at various restaurants, grocery store, etc.

-- Other NBA players I have seen in Indy, include Ray Allen, Rasheed Wallace & McDyess numerous times, Steve Francis, Greg Oden, Terry Porter, and various other lesser known players at Circle Centre Mall during the day when their team is in town to play the Pacers. I had coworkers who saw Dwayne Wade and Pippen at other times as well.

If you're looking to see an NBA player, visit the food court or walk around at Circle Centre during 11am-1pm on a game day and I will almost guarantee you that you'll see a player or several grabbing lunch or killing time before their game that night.

-- Zach Randolph of the Grizzlies lives about 3 minutes away from me during the summer and I see him all the time. He has an amazing Rolls Royce Phantom that you'll see out and about in the summer months and is a super nice guy.

I've met other guys in Indy and elsewhere and, if you approach them in the right situation, they are always usually nice. I work in finance for a living and we have many NBA players and other celebrity clients within our firm that I have worked with and spoken to on several occasions and they are also very cordial too.
