WWJOBD?

To give Jim the best of all possibilities to succeed with his style of play and systems, if Jim were allowed to be his own GM / President of Basketball Operations, who would Jim O'Brien like to see traded away, and who would he realistically like to see come here in exchange for those players?

Alternately, if Jim had a video game where he could choose his own All-Star team, who would be on his video game Dream Team?

Guys from the Lollipop Guild. The ultimate in small-ball.

You mention his 'style of play' and 'systems'. I'm not sure those exist - unless we use the word random. From what I see, a bunch of guys from Rucker would probably produce similar results.

Jaddler,
I thought that photo was of O'Brien stating how many new starters he wanted... until I realized he only wanted 4 new starters to go along with Murphy.

I'm pretty sure he's calling for a "5-out" set, actually. :D

He's yelling "We've had the ball five seconds and haven't taken a three yet!!!!! Five Seconds!!!! FIVE!!!!!!!"

...Or he could be stating how many Troy Murphy's he wished he could start for the team.

He would clearly trade Foster and Hibbert to Boston for Rasheed and Eddie House. That way he could appease everybody with a true center who stands at the three point line and chucks threes with Murphy at his side. Eddie House is clearly an upgrade over Hibbert for shooting a better three point percentage and filling out the roster more appropriately with smaller players.

Lots of good funny posts here, LOL. Keep those coming. They are enjoyable!

At the same time, though I also am trying to get some ideas as to how we really think Jim O'Brien would handle this situation if he were, heaven forbid, in charge of personnel decisions.

its really hard telling how he would do it. would he try to keep playing small ball, or would he just get some guy that looked cool. i belive that it would be like his coaching....no methods to his madness at all!!!

but i would like to think he would trade to better the direction in which he wants the team to go(whatever that is)

if JOB was the gm he would trade Danny and Roy to Utah for ak47 and Okur, the team would be like this: Diener, Head, Ak47, Troy and Okur

Hes saying, "We've passed the ball a record 5 times now in the last 3 possessions combined!"

Something the Pacers do not do...move the ball. 1 or 2 passes max then a shot. Watch a good team and watch how well they move the ball and get wide open shots.

Rasheed Wallace, Ben Gordon, Mehmet Okur, J.J. Redick, Roger Mason, Jason Kapono, etc.

He would make this a strictly catch-and shoot offense, where everybody can only shoot from beyond the three point line and there is a maximum of 2 passes per possession.

He'd trade Roy to Miami for a 3/4 of a bottle of Grecian Formula.

21 posts in and no one has mentioned the obvious? Dirk.....a Player you can build around that that can hit the 3pt shot, command a double Team and can play the Center spot.

I agree. Dirk would have to be O'B's dream come true at center.

Who would O'B be willing to trade to make that happen, not that it is actually possible in all likelihood to get Dirk?
