Interesting lineup now with:

Watson
Head
D Jones
Granger
S Jones

I don't think I've ever seen these 5 on the floor together. They seem to be bringing us back. Its unfortunate that Hibbert has 2 fouls early (especially with one of them hardly being a foul).

LoneGranger33

Solo playing hard.

Watson penetrates a lot, but nothing good comes of it most of the time. Either our big men don't move into good position or Earl doesn't.

I think Hibbert has a hard time with Watson in as well, as shown earlier in the game with a botched pass. He seems to work better with AJ.

Yea, I said that his rookie year that he reminded me of Granger - I hate that he has to play out of position at PF.

I think Russell Westbrook is my favorite non-Pacer/Tar Heel in the NBA. I wanted this guy to fall to us so bad and it just didn't happen. He reminds me of a more athletic Billups.

Also, did anyone hear the announcer say he played for O'Brien and that he would get mad if you took a long 2 and not a 3. I can understand that a little, but I'm just tired of hearing how obsessed he is with the 3.

On Danny vs. Durant, I believe if Danny has the right coach who will utilize him correctly and put in place a sound system both offensively and defensively, that Danny has the basketball IQ to end up better than Durant. That is why I voted "uncertain". Otherwise, yes, right now Durant is unquestionably better, and will stay that way if nothing changes on either team.

I'm not the super optimistic type, but this game is not completely out of reach yet. Price has had some nice drives and Danny just hit a 3. We're a few defensive stops and a couple of baskets away from being in this one.

I'm just concerned about our bigs. They've been killing us down low tonight and Solomon just fouled out. Hibbert has 4.

JOB needs to take Granger out of this game. We're making a run with Durant not in the game, Price is playing his heart out. Granger misses 2 or 3 layups on one possession (meaning he had position all along, just has to take it up strong), and now he hoists up another 3.

While I am just as happy as everyone else to see AJ Price play so well, I hope he doesn't start this season. It seems like every time one of our back ups has a few good games they get switched into the starting lineup and cannot perform consistently. Case in point Luther head. Some players are better coming off the bench and do not perform well as starters, I just hate to see us start the kid too early and see his production dip and have him go back to bench, that has got to be hard to go through...

That's not that shocking. Bench players are usually playing against other bench players. The gap between the talent of benches *usually* doesn't vary as much as that of starting lineups. Oklahoma City has a superior starting lineup to the Pacers so it's not that surprising that the starters had such low +/-. The difference between their bench and ours, however, isn't near as great.

The +/- should always be used with extreme caution.

Speed

Start AJ, he's not afraid to be the pg, the players on the team respect him, watch how they play with him. I'm shocked to say it about a 2nd round pick and I would second guess myself, but you could see the other Pacers trust him and play with him as a guy who they trust, says alot to me. Best loss in a long time, i think. I see a guy who can play point guard and a guy who can play Center. Two of the harder positions to get quality at. Give me some Hansbrough toughness and sprinkle in some consistency along with an allstar SF who can hold his own and I think we may have something?!?!

True, but he was late getting to KD ALOT, sloppy play from him, but I think that is just him getting back in shape and over the injury. How many points to KD end up with? Danny did got fouled alot, that is a good thing.

Danny shoots 3pointers, it is what he has always done. He is usually very good at it. If he had made 2 more he would've been the hero tonight, the next Reggie Miller etc...

The variable in the equation is O'Brien, and unfortunately he is a negative, bringing the value of everyone else down. The guy is not qualified to coach a YMCA league.

See, there's a positive... Pacers have some quality roll players coming off the bench ;)

Despite it being a loss, I felt there were some players worthy of awards.

Bronze: Troy Murphy
He wins a trophy tonight for his stats. Another double-double. !5 points and 15 rebounds. He didn't really do anything else besides get his reliable rebounds.

Silver: Danny Granger
Although he struggled shooting wise, he's getting an award for his scoring and team high 25 points. He's beginning to come around again and he kept the game close in the end with his late game fast breaks. Although he didn't shoot well, he scored well and it's good to see that out of the star.

Gold: A.J. Price
52nd pick you say? I believe we have found our future PG and maybe sooner than expected. He brought the game close in the 4th quarter with his 9/15 FG shooting. He finished with a career high of 23 points. Hopefully more games like this one for A.J. moving forward.

You have to realize all the picks set for Durant make it hard to stay on him all the time right? Granger was slow, I'll say that, but he's coming off an injury, if Dunleavy gets a pass from the fans, Granger should too.

What did you guys think of Troy playing Center? He seemed to do much less damage to our team when he was playing that position. Of course, that means Hibbert is out. But I could live with Troy being Hibberts back up for some quick 3pt shooting and spacing off the bench.

Better be careful of that golden lemonade Koolaid, if that is what you are having.

For me, I prefer Berry Blue, despite the negative stereotyping it has received due to Jonestown.

What are these "screens" for the best scorer on the team you speak of? I know not of these things.

There are alot of lost players on this team. McBob comes to mind, used to be AJ till the last 3 games, it is a rotating state of being lost.

It wasn't bad. He did some good things, and naturally he did help space the floor that way.

God help him if we do that with a 5 on the other team that can score down there.

It is when Troy blocks out Rush for a rebound. DUH!

Yeah, but most Centers who can actually do that are starters in this league. If we have to play Murph, I would prefer he be the back up center to Hibbert, to play vs small ball/2nd unit of the opposing team.

I agree when it comes to McBob. We've been losing and struggling during the games so bringing him in can't hurt. When Solo fouled out we had no centers. Roy was out with 4 fouls (which was also an option). I thought it would've been a smart thing to bring in McBob to play center even though he's more of a PF. He plays the post well so it's better than putting Troy at center.

He still was a - IMO, not as bad as just standing at the top of the key and waiting. He is a complete non factor down low, no post game, so he hurt the offense more than helping.

On Defense he got out rebounded a few times by their PG when it mattered the most. I would have loved to see McBob in the game at that point, he would have provided some athleticism and heart. He maybe could have made a few hustle plays that could have been the difference.

Brandon struggled the whole night and went scoreless and didn't defend as well as he usually does so it would've been a better idea to bring in Dahntay.

I'm a big fan of Brandon and the way he plays, but he really needs to become more of a consistent SG and score at least 10 points a game.

He's a system player. When we're playing streetball, he looks terrible. When we're playing a more structured offense, he looks much better.

Brandon hit a three actually, but I agree that he wasn't really involved in the game. I don't want to let him off the hook (he is who we thought he was), but it's difficult to play a role when there's no script.

Yeah, when weighing all the repurcussions of him playing center, I agree with you. It is cutting into Roy's minutes, it is cutting into McBobs mins and hurts the team overall. I was hyping a lesser of two evils you know. I think it was better than him at PF. But not having him on the floor at all would be best.
