Per Jim O'Brien's radio show last night, Murphy probably, Jeff maybe, Tyler maybe.

Do we know if any injured players are coming back tonight?

Not sure who's coming back but all 15 players practiced, and no one is listed as "out"

http://www.nba.com/pacers/news/preview_100108.html

With a roster nearing full strength for the first time in two years, the Pacers hope to build some momentum while snapping their road funk tonight (8 p.m., 1070 The Fan) as they go for the sweep against the slumping Timberwolves in Minnesota.

All 15 players practiced Wednesday and Thursday, which might be the first time that's happened since Jim O'Brien's first season as head coach in 2007-08. No players are listed as definitely out for tonight's game, though Danny Granger (foot), Troy Murphy (ankle), Tyler Hansbrough (inner ear infection) and Jeff Foster (back) are listed as day-to-day.

With so many injuries, O'Brien has used 13 starting lineups, five in the last six games.

"When you have mass injuries like we've had and the roster changes so dramatically it feels like you've got to find how to best win with a certain new group," O'Brien said. "Just as that group starts to learn how to win, a new group comes, which I'm not going to complain about."

The Pacers (10-23) have lost seven in a row and 13 of 14 on the road but rolled up their biggest lead of the year, 73-45 at halftime, in a 122-111 victory over the Timberwolves last Saturday in Conseco Fieldhouse.

The Timberwolves rallied in the second half, getting as close as 115-111 in the final minute before a three-point play by Earl Watson iced the game.

Minnesota (7-29) has lost five in a row, allowing an average of 111.8 points. The Timberwolves are 4-15 at home, where they've lost three in a row.

I'm so interested to see how lineups and rotations are handled tonight.

Does Head still start next to Granger now? Dunleavy? What will J'Ob decide?

We have 5 healthy wings players now.... how are the minutes going to look?

With Murphy and Granger back AND starting, what's that mean for Roy's lost post touches?

Will Danny benefit from the Watson and Price being the PGs? Will Danny be the guy we saw earlier this year, or the guy we saw last year?

Does McBob still see the floor?

So many questions to be answered.... and no televised game.....

Personally, I'd move Dahntay and Junior to the bench in this case. My initial reaction would be to take Danny's minutes (assuming they're limited) from Head and Dunleavy, but Rush will likely take the hit.

Also, you'd have to wonder if playing Head some at point might be considered, which would squeeze AJ. Danny playing some 4 is another outlet for minutes.

With Murphy and Granger back AND starting, what's that mean for Roy's lost post touches?

Granger will almost certainly take touches from everyone. I would have preferred that he two come back separately, to better gauge the each' impact.

Will Danny benefit from the Watson and Price being the PGs? Will Danny be the guy we saw earlier this year, or the guy we saw last year?

We won't know this for a couple of weeks, minimum.

Does McBob still see the floor?

I'm actually completely for Danny at the 4 now, especially against Minnesota.

You could actually have Danny guard Jefferson and Murphy on Love.

Ya I wonder what Granger's pitch count will be. 18 minutes probably, I'd guess.

Seeing Roy have one of his very very good games with Murphy on the floor. It doesn't seem like this has happened this year.

.

Why do peole keep wanting to see this.

Shooting guards, especially a shooting guard who doesn't see the court well and doesn't pass much, at point guard is NOT a good idea. Ever. Just because you can dribble it doesn't make you a point guard.

Head has been excellent, an excellent scorer. Keep it that way.

Okay, Roy and Murphy has had two good games, in the same game this year. Against the Nets and Spurs on 12-11 and 12/19.

Otherwise, it looks like a directly correlated thing if you compare Roy's numbers with and without Troy.

Count55, can you work your magic/do you have the numbers for Roy when playing with and without Troy, by chance?

I'd actually put the two games that Troy got hurt in, in the "didn't play with Troy" category (both good games by Roy btw). Troy play 16 and 19 minutes when he hurt his back and ankle respectively on 11-3 and 12-29, I believe.

Both of those dates also mark the two best stretches for Roy this year by far.

Well this is pretty refreshing. Good to hear Head is still starting, which is deserving.

Still going to be interesting to see how the bench rotation looks. Rush has been playing solid the last few games. Dunleavy has been starting, but has struggled recently, and Dahntay struggled some, but I think he's played solid as of late a well, when not counted on to guard a PF.

Anyone know if Foster and Hansbrough are playing?

I wonder if Ford's going to be in a suit tonight with Granger and Murphy back for sure.

Ha, I hope Mark and Slick are very detailed tonight

Perfect for the trade value, we hope. Other GM's might be thinking he'll be a potent off-the-bench boost to the offense for a handful of minutes here and there (which, on a well-stocked team, is a great role for him).

So is that realy all the analysis that is needed? Troy plays and no matter if he plays well or horribly, Pacers lose - is it really that simple. So his shooting 5 of 6 from threes is actually hurting the Pacers? How can that be

stat of the game, this is at at the start of the 4th.

Pacers 8-12 FTs
Twolves 30-41 FTs

I wonder why that is? :chin:

Because 22 of our shots have been from three, and not enough driving the basket.

So is that realy all the analysis that is needed? Troy plays and no matter if he plays well or horribly, Pacers lose - is it really that simple. So his shooting 5 of 6 from threes is actually hurting the Pacers? How can that be

No, those are the conclusions after a lot of analysis.

The correct analysis has been posted and accepted by some and rejected by others many times. The short of it is, he hurts the performance of other players and the team as a whole...because both the defense and the offensive flow is not as good with him on the floor. The worst part is, he fades in 75% of games down the stretch...just when you need him to step up. Otherwise, he'd easily have 30 in this game...right now.

I'm guessing no one's in the low post. Roy becomes a high post screener for Danny and Troy on the perimeter.

This is what Slick is complaining about.

Negative 6. We lost by 7, so his above average scoring was basically a wash...unless you consider the fact he didn't score at all down the stretch. I think he nearly had his total in the first half when we scored 62...but when the defense cranked up we scored 47...and I think Murphy had maybe 3 of his 21 points in the second half.

This is only a small part of the issue.

jhondog28

How in the H E double ockey sticks do you go 8/12 from the field and have a -6. I know this stat is fickle but come on this in itself points toward the lack of defense and the inability to improve the play of his teamates.

If Hans scored at that percentage, he'd have a positive 30 or something along those lines. If that's not enough to connect the dots, there's not much more I can say.
