View Full Version : A blast from my Pacer fandom past

Ah, to be a young, naive, optimistic Pacers fan.

Some of you may recall (though it may be very few of you) that back during the pre-PD days at the Star and then also in the early PD days, I made a few Pacer music videos.

I just re-discovered these buried on my hard drive, and I thought I would share them all now. Keep in mind my Pacer highlight sources at the time were of pretty poor video quality by today's standards, and on top of that at least one of them (I'm fairly certain) isn't the original "master" copy with the highest-quality video, hence why the videos look as bad as they do.

To express my positive passion for the team those days, I whipped up these 4 music videos.

The first two came out in 2002. The first was mainly meant to be pro-Reggie, though obviously it's pro-Pacers as well.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CrUAlD6NELU&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CrUAlD6NELU&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

The second one is self-explanatory and more than a little "on the nose" with my lead-in at the beginning. I might have handled it a tiny bit differently today. ;)

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_Vhm6TQP4CY&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_Vhm6TQP4CY&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

In 2003 I made another one that recycled some things but also added new content as well from the 02-03 season.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5ldhdEPIDL4&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5ldhdEPIDL4&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Finally the most recent one I made was in 2004 before the 04-05 season was underway (yes, pre-brawl).

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hTmbkOjEeJw&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hTmbkOjEeJw&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Don't bash me/them too much.

If anyone (even if it's only one) enjoys them, then cool!

I'd say my favorite looking back is the 3rd one. I like those clips the best and I think it's the most enjoyable mix of song and clips of the bunch.

old days :)
I remember very clearly all of those videos, specially from the first and the second remix and also very clearly how i did download all those at my friends house (because i didn't had internet connection in my house) and zipped all of them together, so it was possible to "burn" them into floppy disks. Sad thing was, that my first computers hard disk cut the contract with me (and it came with smoke also) and all of those videos went lost. Also remember, how great it was, to barely see some sort of video footage from the game. For today's youngsters it's normal to watch some recap from EVERY GAME.
Schooltime and good memories rocks

Nice - Thanks for sharing those.

I hope some of our current players see them and gain inspiration from them.

I remember them all... nice to see them again. :)

Thanks Hicks...one tends to forget just how good the 04-05 team really was and how good Tinsley could be.

Thanks again for the trip down memory lane. ;) :buddies:

nice :)

these videos are a great reminder how important it is to have a leader/guy you can count on like uncle Reg on the team...we have potentials in this team right now but clearly no one is near that level yet...

After watching these, I truly believe I would be willing to go through the post brawl era all over again just to be able to see the collection of talent we had under Bird as head coach and then the more athletic collection of talent we ended up with under Carlisle pre-brawl. Special, special days those were, and so easily taken for granted at the time.

These remind me, once more, how far removed we currently are as a franchise in every single aspect from a talent and leadership standpoint. We have no one, with apologies to Danny, who would have gotten significant minutes with either the Finals team (and those that led to it the prior two years under Bird) or the pre-brawl Carlisle teams. Danny may have gotten some of Jalen's minutes, but Jalen was capable of a lot of athletic moves.

We are definitely at, or very near, the bottom currently.

hicks, thank you for sharing....i like them all and i certintaly wouldnt even know how to make such a thing......but the last one is my favorite.....maybe some time in the future you could make a current one...like maybe when we know we will be out to kill the whole league and finally take our champonship!!!

That video from 2001-2002 showed just how much talent the Pacers had back in the early to middle part of the decade. It's a shame nothing ever came from having all of that great talent. Jermaine looked like a world beater and Tinsley looked like he could average 10 assists per game if he wanted to. :(

"This year, .500 ball is unacceptable..."

Heck now we pray for .500 ball. We salivate like wild dogs for .500 ball.

Thanks for sharing. Too bad I didn't get to see these sooner, every time you gave me grief for being a sunshiner I could've rubbed them in your face.

This makes me really miss healthy JO

Awesome videos. Seriously, thank you for posting those.

I miss the days when the crowd at Conseco would stand up and cheer with that intensity. I miss those game changing three's from Reggie, and those monster dunks by JO. I miss those teams. Watching these mixes just made me remember that first season (00-01)after making the finals when they struggled a bit. Watching them evolve into a truly exciting team again was an awesome experience. I'm ready for the next era to start.

I dont mean to beat a dead horse here, but thank you very much for putting these up. I also think the last one is the best. The music is beautiful that goes with it. A very strong sense of nostalgia goes along with these videos. The last one is very inspiring to me. Wonderful works of art Hicks. No need to be self-conscious at all. Well done sir, well done.
