Rafer Alston (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3282/;_ylt=AnJW.BYuQvIk6vNmOMkB0YrTjdIF)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3282/news;_ylt=AuYiwWfMAzHp0FL3rbQ9DvbTjdIF) has agreed to a contract buyout with the New Jersey Nets (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/njn/;_ylt=Amqg.JgwaYZ96hyRLyxVdiLTjdIF) and the Miami Heat (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/mia/;_ylt=AgXLFRi0W.j15bUY55T_PArTjdIF) have emerged as a frontrunner to sign the point guard after he clears waivers, sources told Yahoo! Sports on Tuesday.
The Cleveland Cavaliers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/cle/;_ylt=AoMfSZFe9cETYaULVGFA2vzTjdIF) have also expressed interest in Alston.

Alston came to New Jersey in the Vince Carter (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3248/;_ylt=AuBaIf7KdN0JjW9shrJGphvTjdIF)(notes) (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3248/news;_ylt=AlNalV1B9ubkZgYZiLow86PTjdIF) trade in June, but has been anxious to flee the 3-30 Nets to play for a contender. Heat president Pat Riley had identified Alston earlier this season as a veteran point guard who could help stabilize his backcourt, sources said. Still, several other contenders are believed to have an interest in Alston.
To possibly free up a roster spot for Alston, the Heat have also agreed to trade point guard Chris Quinn and a future second-round pick to the Nets.
Damn, nothing dilutes the pool of potential Ford destinations more than a good old fashioned buy-out of a fairly decent PG. Hell, I'd much rather have Alston than Ford at this point.

Yeah, I'd like to have him, but I'd also like to have herpes.

Pass.

I'll tell you who I'd like to have.... Jerryd Bayless...

Just saying....

This is the 2nd time Alston has messed up our chance of trading away a point guard.

Just to add to the ongoing debate - he's shot like 11-48 or something like that over the last 5 games. Just saying...

IMO he was a big factor in why the Nets were struggling. This should help their situation, and not just financially.

Of course you might say the same to a TJ buyout at this point.

Oh. Someone dropped him in my fantasy league recently and he went on a hot streak after that. Thought he was doing good, just saying...

Nevermind.

On the year now:

Bayless
401 - 324 - eFG 431
p36
4.4 ast 2.9 reb 0.5 stl 0.1 blk 2.1 TO

Rush
380 - 333 - eFG 455
p36
1.3 ast 5.4 reb 0.9 stl 0.9 blk 1.5 TO

The list of things Bayless is doing better than Rush is getting pretty short. Really the only serious disadvantage for BR right now is in FTAs, and Rush is bad there in general.

Now if you are saying that you've thought Rush's offense was just crazy good this year, then I guess I see where you'd want another offensive player putting up similar numbers. If you think Rush has struggled on offense, then look at his numbers, look at JB's numbers, then subtract out defense. Ouch.

I was simply saying that I would rather have Bayless up until I was informed that he too, sucks.
