Since the Pacers didn't sign Jackson for the MLE, that means that we still have the MLE to spend. This leaves Dampier still open to us!

Doubt it...

If we use any of it at all, looks like we will use the $1 million exception to get a back-up point.

It was just an idea. ;)

Although with the crazy contracts going around Dampier should get the max.

Oh yeah, back in the George Yardly/Larry Foust/Mel Hutchins days........one of the better trios in early NBA history. Got to the finals a few times, but could never get past Dolph Schayes and Paul Arzin in the finals.

No way does damp play for the MLE. He is fishing for the biggest deal he can find.

Hux, the mid level exception is being figured now and will be made known by the 14th. It figures to be anywhere from $4.9 to $ 5.3 million. Dampier opted out of a contract two years early that would have paid him around $8.1 and $8.7 million.

He was expecting to get a contract starting at $10 million, but the way everyone is being overpaid he could get the max or near max from someone.

What all this means is Dampier can't be touched for the mid level.

I don't know if Atlanta can afford it, but if they could get Dampier, and K-Mart, to go along with the expected trade pickup of Harrington, they would have a very good front line.
