he were a free agent right now.

After reading what others have been getting this summer, I was wondering what he would garner as an unrestricted free agent.

I dont think he would sniff the money Okur got form Utah. I think he would get maybe half of someone's MLE.

He's get MLE, maybe more if the team is desperate.

I'd rather have Jeff than Foyle, for sure, and there are probably some GMs who feel the same way.

realisticly, coming of the season he had, and adding to that the new theory that a "non-scoring" center aint half bad, I would doubt it not if he were commanding the same type of money as brad got last year, certainly more then the MLE. It seems to be a long hot summer at these rates.

6 years, 50 million. Because UB said "garner."

Well at the current trend , maybe the best thing for Jeff is to be glad he isn't a FA , if the trend of salries continues to go up like it has , Jeff will get even more when he is a FA . I would say if he was a FA today he would make about 5 mil a year ;)

Jeff Foster wouldn't "garner" the MLE. Maybe 3/4's of but I doubt he is worth more then Blount right now. If Jeff was not such a great glass eater, he would just be another stiff without an offensive game sent out to clog the paint.

Don't get me wrong...I love the guy, but I don't really think the league would see him in the same light as we do.

I think some of you are under estimating Foster's worth. We all know he can rebound, but I've not seen many players play better man to man defense on Duncan and Garnet than Foster does. He could get a pretty fat salary, certainly more than the MLE, IMO.

garner: 2 a : to acquire by effort : EARN b : ACCUMULATE, COLLECT

I figured since the forum turned into the 5th grade today I would do my part and use garner, nd you see the def above.

Yes many of you are underestimating Foster, no he would not get what Brad got last year, but he would get the full MLE over 6 years. He would get a bigger contract than what he has right now the same contract so many of you were *****ing about a year ago.

That was the answrer I was looking for

I think he'd get more than the MLE. Maybe starting at $6.5 to $7.0 million.

He's proven to be capable of playing 24 mpg on a contender, something Okur (not enough minutes) and Foyle and Blount (not for contenders) have not done. Sure, he's got limitations, and I'm not exactly his biggest fan, but he's not a 'stiff'.

A sure sign its July and we're bored.

You haven't updated your signature yet. Surely you've gone back into that other thread. ;)

Jay,. I have gone back to that other thread, and I have read your comment twice, and I must admit, I don't get it.

I don't think we're talking about the same thing... Page three of the "Pacers don't want to gut the team" thread.

Oh yes, now I see, I did not notice the phrase, "I like shooting guards that can guard"

You see this is why I was stunned & I mean stunned when people were suprised that Brad got a big contract.

I would not have been shocked if somebody didn't offer him a max. contract.

He was an all-star. Anybody who watched him, minus uncle buck, knew he was going to be an all-star last season as well.

He arguably at the time of the contract was anywhere from the 2nd to 5th best player at his position in the entire n.b.a.

There had to be something else. something behind the scenes that we were not made aware of for Walsh to just dump him this way.

Oh yeah, this is about Foster.

I don't know, to be honest with you I don't know if Jeff would get that big of an offer from another team or not. It could be that Foster is in an ideal situation for him here & is making the most of his opprotunities. Thus, as an example, I don't think Golden State would offer him anymore than the mid-level. But maybe the Miami Heat would offer him a little more.

He's really more of a player who has to have a situation that fits him, not the type of player that fits every situation.

I think Jeff would get just under the MLE to start with. His defense is underrated by fans (probably not by GMs or scouts) but he's still not a true post player (regarding his offensive game and his defensive game is more suited towards the "new breed" of guys not Shaq) nor much of a shotblocker. With Foyle at least you see that he's more of a post player (his offensive game is probably worse than Fosters though) and a better shotblocker if not quite the man to man (but probably better help) defender that Jeff is.

Is it me or all we are complaining about all the contracts agreed to so far being "too much"? Is market value going up?

This is a goofy year. Last year Kandiman and Nesterovic get the MLE. This year Foyle gets big bucks, Dampier thinks he's getting 10 mill ... after a year of responsible spending, looks like the owners have gone nuts.

Jon Barry above the MLE? With his injury history?

Foster might get the MLE - last season he'd have gotten maybe half of it (if he'd had the season he did in 03-04).

I understand what you are saying and I agree, that Jeff may not fit every situation as a starter/finisher. For example you would not want to team Jeff with another big guy who could not score.

Having said that, I don't think there is a team in the league who wouldn't want Jeff on their team. He accepts his role, he gives all out effort at all times.
