It would appear they are having some technical difficulties.

I pay my $40.00 every year but today of all days I can't get in.

That's dumb, ESPN is just dumb, rich, but dumb.

Not only do they make people pay to read the articles, but they don't let people read all of them unless they pay even more....

Wow.... just makes my love for ESPN grow even broader. What next, you'll have to pay an extra $4 a year to get the version that's not infected with computer viruses? :shakehead:

FYI, here's the text from the synopsis:

The Pacers won a league-best and team-record 61 games last season. They took the eventual world champs deep into the Eastern Conference finals. They still have one of the youngest rosters in the league. So why has there been so much trade talk swirling around Indiana these days?

"We're just trying to make our team better," team president Donnie Walsh told Insider. "I don't think were looking to make a major change. But we know we have a few weaknesses. During the course of the season we covered them well. But they got exposed to a certain extent in the Detroit series. It's our job to smooth out the rough edges."

For starters, Al Harrington, the teams' sixth man, asked Larry Bird for a trade in his exit interview. Then Ron Artest, the defensive player of the year, skipped his exit interview completely.

Add those to the team's disappointing guard play in the playoffs, and the Pacers entered the offseason willing to make a deal. Their point guard needs to get older and more experienced. Their two guard is getting older by the minute. Their perimeter game, offensively and defensively, needs help, and they seem determined to fix it.

Indiana already has been in hot pursuit of everyone from T-Mac to Shaq to Ben Gordon this summer. Don't expect Bird to stop until he gets what he wants.

Should the Pacers mess with a good thing? Here's a look at what to expect as Insider continues its summer blueprint series.

I don't think that is true. I can't access *any* articles on Insider today, and I've been a paying subscriber from the first day they moved over from SportsTALK; I think they are having technical problems.

I'm not aware of different (premium) levels of service, some of us may be grandfathered with the cheaper rates.

Jay-- You're probably right. I was, however, able to access other articles and "My Insider". I assumed we were grandfathered in, as well. But when I saw the $6.95 it threw me off.

not to get this thread back on track or anything

...but this was posted on the Indystar board in regard to the ESPN Insider article:

"It's a off season summary of what we already know. They are doing one for each team. The new trade rumor was Harrington and Tinsley for Terry, but that was just speculation on their part."

while posting copywrited material is forbidden, what's wrong with a paraphrased "Cliff's Notes" version?

where's Cliff when you need him (at Cheers?)

Little trick around the "no copy" thing on Insider --- do a View Source on the page and viola, you got the message.

Free Agency: They think Stephen Jackson is really the only possibility.

Trades: see this happening, possibly Al and Tins for jason Terry

That was the meat - kind of dull

should we restart the Ray Allen talks again?? I think he would be a great player for us... His contract is a bit worrisome, but other than that...

I doubt this trade will happen but Steven Jackson and Jason Terry for Al Harrington and Tinsley doesn't make us that much better then we already are.It gives us a little more perimeter scoring and better defense on the perimeter but in the grand scheme of things I don't see us getting any closer to beating Detroit.

I have nothing against getting either one of those players. I like Jackson alot and Terry I would love to get as a combo guard off the bench. As far as him starting though at pg Im not crazy about.

I would consider giving up Al or Jamal but not both for Terry.I also believe if we were willing to give up Al and Jamal up we could get a better deal then this one.
