The Girls of Indiana, our Indiana Fever, are on an impressive winning streak. Not only have they won four games in a row, but their last two wins have been over their biggest nemesis - the Detroit Shock!

I had this game marked on my calendar only because it's Father's Day. And as crazy as it sounds, I wanted a Fever win to round out this day. Going into the half, I didn't think my girls would pull it off after being down by 17. But they had a gut check after their first timeout to start the 2nd-half and from their they put the pressure on.

Except for Davenport who played just over a minute, everyone else who saw playing time contributed exceptionally well on both ends of the ball. Catchings had very active hands and got a few steals. She even came back after tweaking her ankle late in the game. Sutton-Brown (my cutie pie :D ) had one very impressive block to go with three consecutive baskets from the field not to mention some impressive scoring underneath in the 4Q. And Katie Dougles finally caught fire in the 4Q lighting it up from downtown. But the biggest contributors on the night were Tally and Dixon.

Tally started a 17-2 come from behind rally for the Fever scoring 8 straight points - two were 3 pointers! The Shock keep leaving her wide open out there and she finally started making them pay. Once they began to defend her, Lynn Dunn did the smart thing and went with Dixon who I am knicknaming "Handles" because the girl has great ball handling skills. She was excellent at driving inside the lanes and kicking the ball out. On one play she got deep inside the interior and kicked the ball out to Catchings the way you'd expect from her male counterparts. Catchings then made the Shock pay by draining the 3-ball. It was something for the highlight reels...definitely the play of the game for sure!

Ultimately, the Fever doubled the Shock's scoring in the 2nd-half going 45-22. Final score: 82-70, Fever. Defense was the name of this game, and my girls had plenty of it.

Very Well Done, girls. You made my Father's Day complete.

To be fair, the Shock are not very good right now.

Still, very nice to see the current streak.

I take full credit for the amazing comeback. Just before it started I called my dad to say "The other half of your Father's Day present is we didn't take you to the Fever game. They're getting their a$$es kicked."

As for whether or not Detroit is any good I don't know. However, Chris Denari and Debbie Antonelli were not the least bit impressed with Rick Mahorn's coaching in the 4th quarter.

Good, I hope these girls can extend it to 5 in a row.

That sound you just heard is the fabric of space time tearing. The known Universe will be swallowed up shortly.

The Fever are a good team with good players. If Lin Dunn got fired they would be way better. Possibly heading to the Eastern Conference Finals.

We'll never know because she's not going to be fired. Especially not after a four game winning streak. Oh wait, they fired Brian Winters after he got them to the Conference Finals so I suppose anything is possible.

Do the players even like her? She can hardly speak clearly.

Katie knows her from college. Tamika went to Tennessee so she can probably understand her.

Well, for some strange reason they were able to come back from a night of HORRID shooting and another 17 point defecit, to win by one in overtime against the Liberty.

They are at it again against NY tomorrow night...

OMG! They actually won!?! I couldn't watch all the game, but from what I saw they were down big time late in the 3rd quarter.

Duke,

You beat me to it. :-o

I said it before the season started that it was injuries that held them back last year. I'd like to see them go on a 10-game win streak...doubt it would happen, but it would be nice.

Keep it up, girls. You're doing just fine. :)

Better make that a 7-game win streak!

The Girls of Indy are on a roll. Granted, they're 7-2 with 6 of their 9 games played at home, but they've they've managed to defeat two of their all-time rivals, the NY Liberty and the Detroit Shock, in back-to-back sets along the way. So, that should get them some props at least w/their local fanbase.

Like I said above, I'd like to see the Fever go on a 10-game win streak. That would be impressive! I wonder what the longest win streak in WNBA history is?

I hate to say it, but I'm starting to believe.

I think we'll really see what this team is made of once the streak is over. It's usually pretty telling how a team reacts to a long winning streak being snapped.

I started believing around win #4.

You need to call the corporate extension to have the Fever Fan Bus come pick you up.

If more members of the offense would learn to move while waiting for a pass so that the lanes would come open, I think this team would be unstoppable.

Our girls on the fever are for real. They will be a force to reckon with come playoff time. I just wish we could see more of the games on TV.:cheer2:
