Come on, is this even a contest? It has to be Bob Hill.

Hill obviously. Here is some interesting tidbits when he was actually asked to coach basketball players, rather than NBA players who never really listen:

Between 1999 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999) and 2003 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003), Hill was head coach at Fordham University (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fordham_University). At Fordham he compiled a 36–78 record (.316 winning %). He was let go by the Rams following the 2002–03 season after only 1 win in the Atlantic 10 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlantic_10). The Rams finished 2–26 in 2003, the worst record in school history. Fordham paid Hill $650,000 to leave the university in a buyout agreement four years into his 10-year deal.

Brown was the best coach the NBA pacers have ever had...just in front of RC and then Bird. As for Bird, it's tough to call the guy who led the team to its only appearance in the NBA finals the worst coach of the decade.

He couldn't recruit. a) It was Fordham. Nobody can recruit there. b) He'd been out of college ball since he left Larry Brown and Kansas in '85 to go to the Knicks.

Wait.....Was George Irvine strictly an '80's guy? He gets my vote as WORST ALL TIME COACH OF THE PACER"S....OR ANY OTHER NBA TEAM.

I mean, he made Dick Versace look good by comparison!!!

I agree, but I think you have your coaches' names backwards.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. When the Pacers fired Bob Hill I thought they should have fired the players instead, but since you can't do that he got the ax.

Now, if someone would like to start a poll "Best Looking Pacers Coach Ever" Bob Hill would win that by a landslide.

And they did. The first team Larry Brown coached had very few of Hill's players. The second team had only Reggie, Rik and Dale. Well, Vern and Tank were technically there, but not really part of the rotation.

Its not like Larry Brown took Bo's roster and changed them. The roster had a major overhaul too.

How is Versace not in this poll? He coached from 1989-1991.

Good point. I changed my vote.

Sorry I left him out because he was in my 80s coaches poll. i forgot he did cross over for a couple years into the 90s. Besides this is going to end up being a crazy vote at the end between all the bad coaches. I have a feeling this is going to come down to Irvine, versace and I have a gut feeling who it will be for the 2000s.

Yeah, but Bob Hill doesn't belong with Irvine, Versace and Thomas. It just happens that the next two coaches after him during the 1990s had better (and more mature) rosters, were much more successful, and were the coaches during our "glory years."
