There should be a night next season when the Pacers wear the '85-'90 uniforms.

Who's with me on this?

Any kind of throwback jersey would be fine.

They wore the ABA ones for the 40th season.

Yes...they wore those the year of the brawl.

They're hideous...(and I believe they were designed by the daughter of either Donnie Walsh or one of the Simons, IIRC).

Plus, the NBA has rules about what you can wear as an Alternate jersey. I think you can either have a throwback or an alternate...and you can only do it periodically...but I can't find it anywhere.

I believe it has to do with marketing and selling the jerseys.

My guess is that you'll see either the Flo-Jo's or the pinstripes back within the next couple of years.

We've worn those before, I think they're pretty nice.

Once it appears this team is on the cusp of competing again, they can bring back the Flo-Jo's to wear periodically for a season. I hate the pinstripes, maybe with the passage of time I'll feel some sort of nostalgia for them, but still too soon for those.

i really like the pinstripes. I bought my white pnstripe JO jersey the offseason just before they switched to the new ones. at this time i was a bit upset i did not wait a bit longer to get the new ones but in the end they re my favorite from both and i really like to wear them. Flo Jos are cool of course but i also like the ones they wore 2 seasons ago, IIRC it s the ABA jersey, very classical but dope

The last throwback night I went do was against Denver in MSA in what I believe was 1994. The played disco music and some of the players warmed up in fake afros. I also think we lost by about 30.

Yes, we wore those uniforms during the 2004-2005 (Brawl) season. I really liked them, and bought a Reggie one last season.

I am a big proponent of the HOME Flo-Jo's. I would like to see those. It's been too soon since we have had the pinstripes to wear them in a Hardwood Classics night.

1967 uniforms. Calling them the "ABA ones" is a little vague, since there were at least 2-3 iterations before we made our way into the NBA.

They were also worn during the preseason game last year in the Coliseum.

It was actually March 31, 1995, 2 years before the 96-97 NBA at 50 celebration. I only know this because Reggie goes over it in his book, "I Love Being The Enemy", which is a chronicle of the 94-95 season. He talks about going to the beauty parlor with Haywoode to pick up the wigs.

Think the Pacers sold them that year just because of the NBA at 50 celebration?

Reggie says in the book that the unis worn for that game in 95 were from the 74-75 season (which would make sense, since 94-95 would have been the 20th anniversary of that season).

ChicagoJ
06-17-2009, 02:49 PM
The other thing is that ones that were sold were White with Navy and Gold, instead of White with Royal Blue and Gold. Looked much nicer in navy.

I think I bought mine at a Sports Authority store in Chicago - never saw them in Indianapolis. They may have had an "exclusive" on certain NBA at 50 jerserys. Was always irritated that it was a "31" instead of 30, 34, or 35, and almost bought a retro 76ers #6 in protest.

Pinstripes, please. It was no accident that our jerseys were ranked #1 in the NBA in fan polls (I believe, it was fan polling, I'm sure it couldn't have been sales) at the time. Classy and different from all the rest in the league at the time. I actually like Orlando's now, too, with wider spacing between the stripes and the way they kind of fan out towards the shoulders.

Flo-Jo's are the best, IMO. Maybe it's just the memories for me, because that's when I was growing up and became a Pacers fan. I liked the pinstripes when we had them, not so much now. I think the yellow monstrosities ruined the pinstripes for me. Those alts were horrific.

I can't wait to see the Flo-Jo's again. I really want to find one I can buy.

And I guess I'm in the minority when I say that I would put Reggie's rookie jersey 2nd behind the Flo-Jo. I love those things. Unfortunately, the one I have is J.O.'s from when they wore them as throwbacks.

They were also the Finals jerseys. I'd associate them more with Reggie and Mark than Ron and Stephen. And JO was good for a few years in them. I try to block out The Brawl when I see those, I think of us finally breaking through to the Finals, and then some exciting pieces being put together for a future that unfortunately never happened...

I grew up with the Pacers in the mid 90's, through the Flo-Jo's, and I must say that I absolutely hate those jerseys. I owned a couple Reggie Flo-Jo's, but I didn't know any better at the time. Love the throwbacks that we've used (the blue with that yellow stripe across the chest, and the whites with the blue pinstripe across the chest and down the side.) It will be a sad/interesting day when they bring the Flo-Jo's back.
