Pacers are bringing in a few more players to Thursday for workouts.

Former Pike High School and Indiana University player Robert Vaden is among those who will work out for the Indiana Pacers Thursday.

Vaden is scheduled to be joined by Ohio State freshman center B.J. Mullens, Utah’s Luke Nevill, BYU’s Lee Cummard, Tasheed Carr of St. Joseph’s and Garret Siler of Augusta State.

Vaden played a key role on Pike’s 29-0 Class 4A state title team in 2003, averaging 13.5 points and 5.9 rebounds. On that team, the 6-6 guard was part of a starting lineup that included current Orlando Magic shooting guard Courtney Lee and 2003 Indianapolis Star Indiana Mr. Basketball Justin Cage.

Vaden transferred to Bridgton Academy in Maine for his senior year.

He played two years at IU, then transferred to UAB when coach Mike Davis left the Hoosiers and took the Blazers’ job.

Siler is 7-0, 290-pound center who averaged 16.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.7 blocked shots and shot 79.5 percent from the season for one of the top teams in NCAA Division II.

Another lackluster group of guys. Pacers appear to be looking at plenty of late 2nd round guys.

Mullins the only one of interest at #13, but not someone I'm excited about.

So far Budinger, James Johnson, and Mullins are the only prospects we've looked at in our first round pick range.

Hopefully this picks up with better prospects soon

THE `BURBS - Here's the list of players expected to workout for the Pacers on Thursday.

--Former Indiana University player Robert Vaden
--Ohio State's B.J. Mullens
--Utah's Luke Nevill
--BYU's Lee Cummard
--Tasheed Carr of St. Joseph's
--Garret Siler of Augusta State

North Carolina's Wayne Ellington was also scheduled to workout, but decided to pull out.

Some of you are probably scratching your head wondering about the players the Pacers have brought in so far.

Don't worry, things are expected to heat up next week.

North Carolina's Ty Lawson, Wake Forest's Jeff Teague, UCLA's Jrue Holiday, Pittsburgh DeJuan Blair, Florida State's Toney Douglas and Michigan State's Goran Suton are expected to workout Monday.

There's been a lot of talk about what the Pacers need. Point guard and power forward are the two most talked about positions.

If you think about it, though, the Pacers need help across the board.

--Point guard: T.J. Ford could end up being the only player returning from last season if Travis Diener decides to opt out his contract and the Pacers can't afford to re-sign Jarrett Jack.

--Shooting guard/small forward: Brandon Rush and Danny Granger are the only two healthy swingmen under contract for next season. Mike Dunleavy is sidelined indefinitely as he works his way back from knee surgery.

--Power forward: They have been looking for a low-post scorer ever since they traded Jermaine O'Neal a year ago.

--Center: They could use a defensive intimidator in the paint to help stop teams from going through lay up drills against them. Roy Hibbert will eventually be that player once he learns how to quit fouling all the time.

Robert Vaden should get an invite to our summer league team when he goes undrafted. The kid can shoot (great range, quick release, not afraid to shoot) I saw him live @ Hinkle this past season and his release was on par with Stephan Curry.

Too bad his accuracy is not.

Have you ever competed against him? I do not know the kid, but really had a dislike for his entourage during the Butler game this year. Too loud and obnoxious for my taste.

Nope.

Heard somethings from friends that were around his crew during his time at IU, but nothing first hand.

Can't wait for Monday to actually get some draft possibilities in for a workout.

Holiday and Blair are the 2 intriguing ones Monday, but I'm expecting the workouts to heat up some the week before the draft

If I go down to Conseco can I watch them workout on Monday?

Interesting Holiday is working out for the Pacers, it shows that he doesn't have a top ten guarantee or that the Pacrs may move up and get him.

Fixed.

It's one thing to work guys out, let's just hope they can actually land a guy that can actually play well within our system.
