A cancerous mass perforated my colon while I was in Iraq. I was told had I gone back to my hootch and gone to sleep I would not have awakened from the massive internal bleeding and septic shock. Pretty sobering news.<o></o>
<o></o>
Through God’s grace, the hands of my surgeon, USAF Major Nathan Piovesan and the chemotherapy aftercare from the<st1><st1> Central</st1> <st1>Indiana</st1> <st1>Cancer </st1><st1>Center</st1></st1>, I am a Cancer Survivor. Even though I am still facing more chemo and possibly radiation I am grateful . . . I am thankful . . . and, I am thoughtful for the gift of life.<o></o>
<o></o>
I have been the beneficiary of grants from the American Cancer Society in defraying the difference in the payments the insurance pays and the actual cost for my treatments. Just one drug, at .05 mg costs $14,400.00 a month. Each month, the ACS kicks in $3,200.00 to make up the difference.<o></o>

This June 13-14, I will be participating in my first “physical activity” in the form of the Relay for Life at Beech Grove Middle School. The event raises funds for cancer research and provide financial assistance for those who were or are in the same position as me. It is time for me to Pay It Forward and I could use your help. If you would like to help sponsor me I would truly be appreciative. Anything from a few dollars to a small fortune helps :). I know times are tough right now and you may choose other avenues for your hard earned dollars. If so, trust me, I understand. If you do choose to donate, click the link below and it will take you to my donation page.

<o></o>Thank you for even considering doing this and I will let all of you know how I did.

I'm in very tight financial straits at the moment, but if I come into any extra cash I'll be sure to forward it your way.

Congrats on the ongoing recovery.

I actually have been involved with the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation organization all semester.

My girlfriend and I helped out with a similar type event here in Jacksonville, and we also have been helping out with information tables at bra fittings here locally. Every time a woman tried on a bra the company donated $2 to the Komen foundation.

We also have been sewing heart shaped pillows that are given to breast cancer patients after they get out of surgery.

Like Shade times are rough right now but if I run across any loose change I will definitely be sending it your way.

Good luck with everything and keep us posted!

I want to thank everyone for the support and contributions. For someone who was expecting $5-$10 donations there were some sizeable contributions. Some of the names I didn't recognize so please send me a PM so I can more properly thank you.

Not that it compares to a human at all, the best dog I've ever had is currently living with lukemia. She has taken a turn for the worst and we are preparing to put her to rest. My donation will be in her name, Marie, the best dog ever.

Us BlueNGold fans stick together...through thick and thin. Besides, it's for a good cause and we're helping out a friend of ours. :buddies:

Could someone please "sticky" this, at least until a few days after the Relay For Life event happens? Few causes are as worthy as this, IMO.
