Measurements released

by: DraftExpress
May 29, 2009

Blair has a 8'10.5 standing reach (Griffin: 8'9)
Earl Clark measured slightly taller than I expected. His arms are LONG!
Curry has short arms.
Daye is almost 6'11 with a huge wingspan.

Thoughts?

Does anyone know if NBA.com listed heights are with or without shoes? I'm assuming with shoes. Hansborough is tall enough. He also has a wingspan that's longer than he is tall.

They are always listed with shoes. But to me a shoe should add 1.25 inch maximum. For instance I don't think Clark should be listed 6'10.25. They almost added 2 inches. I think he should be closer to 6'9.5

Hey...Johnny Flynn is 6'11 without shoes, but drops to 6' with shoes!

Whoa...sucky shoes.

Here's my take on Hansbrough...He's a major reach at 13, and I don't want him there. He'll be gone by 52, and I don't particularly think he's worth putting a lot of effort into getting. If we can get a late first/early second pick without giving up much of anything, then...OK...If not, I don't think we're going to be missing out on much.

A wingspan of 6'11 and a standing reach of 8'8 for a guy that's 6'5? That's just crazy!

Danny Granger has a standing reach of 8'7.

I agree, but according to Chad Ford his value is higher now and he is saying that he may be gone before the 20th pick. By the way is anybody watching the pre-draft workout? he is looking good.

So, the first thing that I noticed is that DeJuan Blair is shorter than Chase Bundinger.

It's also worth noting that Teague is only 1 inch taller than Lawson and Flynn. I think we can discard the notion of him being a legitimate combo guard.

I did not noticed that, yeah he is really small 6'6.5 with shoes on?

It's a good size... if you're a shooting guard.

Nonsense...he can do both vocals and play rhythm guitar.

IMHO....not that really surprising......it's pretty much assumed that he was 6'6" on the court.

I would have been surprised if he came in at 6'5" or 6'7" with shoes on.

I got excited when I found it. I had been looking for it since Wednesday when the combine started. This can only help Griffin's stock. If the clips had any question about his real height it was just answered. That doesn't help us out any though. Earl Clark measued 6'10", but i don't know if he can play power forward. He might be able to play both forward spots and give the wings a break too. The knock I read on him is he didn't shoot well at the combine drills.

Danny Granger has a standing reach of 8'7.

Also, Blake Griffin has a reach of 8'9. That makes Evan's reach that more impressive.

I guess I'm in the minority but I think that Tyler Hansbrough's stock will rise to the point that he's selected before the 15th pick by the time the draft arrives.

Sure he doesn't have a lot of upside but he's fundamentally skilled big man with decent size. He's going to impress some team during the pre-draft individual and group workouts enough to move up the board.

I agree, I think his value is going to rise the closes we get to the draft, some mock drafts have him 18 or 20 and they have an smaller PF (Blair) pick before him, I think that Blair would go lower and Tyler would go higher.

We draft and trade like what we did with Bayless for Jack and Rush and oh yeah Mr. Josh McRoberts the best guy in that deal.

Don't the more athletic guys rise closer to the draft, while people tend to over look whether a guy can actually play?

Tiny Archibald

Hansborough's problem is that he'll be a major liablility on the
defensive end in the NBA. He'll probably be funtional enough
on the offensive side of the ball to be a fairly solid 8th-10th
guy on someone's team.

Or I suppose, if he happens to land some place like San Antonio
where his liabilities can be covered up some, he might even have
a shot at getting quasi-starter's minutes.

Anything can happen.

A few years ago, Rajon Rondo did well athletically at the combine but then slipped bigtime in the draft because he couldn't shoot the ball worth a lick.

FYI for everyone- Verticals, agility times, and bench press have been added to the measurements.

http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre-draft-measurements/

Just a couple thoughts:

- Sam Young was tied for the 2nd slowest 3/4 court sprint. The slowest was Austin Daye (who also had the worst vertical).

- Jonny Flynn is the only player with a 40" vertical

- Gerald Henderson has 4.4% body fat..wow.

- Stephen Curry had twice as many bench reps as Earl Clark (10 to 5)
