Daniels for Stackhouse (unguaranteed) and #22?

The following article indicates a need for an offensive creator at the 2 for Dallas:http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=12645

Wouldn't he be better than Stackhouse?

Would they be able to get something better?

I'm not sure why they wouldn't. Avery didn't want to use him, so they traded him away. I'm not sure Rick had any problem with him.

The only thing this does is add $2M to our payroll for next year for nothing.

I suppose they'd take him back at around $2M a year.

I suppose they'd take him back at around $2M a year.Well, for that price, I think Larry would keep him also.

This means we'll have to pick up Daniels' option which will put us over the LT

Stackhouse is unguaranteed, which means it's virtually an expiring, right?

So then what's the point? We pick up Daniels option and go over the 9:29:32 AM and trade him for Stacks contract that we want to expire?????

Doesn't make sense to me

Speaking of not making sense... what in the world does that mean?

I don't know what my black berry is doing. Basically what you underlined should be excluded

Stackhouse wouldn't play here anyway. Remember his part in the Kidd trade.

Only $2M is guaranteed on Stack's contract, when we cut him after trading for him. We basically took on an extra $2M cap hit for taking the option on Marquis's deal. We would be better off letting Daniels go as a free agent and trying to trade Dallas another contract for Stackhouse where it would actually help our cap space.

Its a pretty steep price for the #22 pick and Stack's contract. I think we could get a better deal if we want another pick that is in the 20's.

Actually, I think this is to high of a price for the Mavs. Stack's contract can be terminated in early August for a 2 mil buyout. There might be a lot of interest in a deal for that contract without giving up the #22 pick. Being a Mav fan, I like Daniels and wish the Mavs had kept him but I'd probably rather have a Sam Young, Derrick Brown, Terence williams or one of the young PG's that might fall to the Mavs instead of Quis. The Mavs also have no 1st round pick next year. Not sure they can trade that pick until after the draft. What is the rule on that.

they can trade the player after the pick is made.

If J-Kidd leaves, I think the Mavs may pull the trigger on a Ford for Stack & draft pick deal. And it was George, not Stack, who ran up the price tag for Cuban in the whole Harris-Kidd trade.

Remember Stack said this:

"I get 30 days to rest, then I'll be right back,'' Stackhouse told The Associated Press on Wednesday in response to the proposed trade. "I ain't going nowhere."

At least I took that as Stackhouse didn't want to go anywhere. Though while searching for that link I saw an article from November that said he now wants to be traded, so who knows.
