View Full Version : Who Thinks Top Pacer Brass or Players Actually Lurk or Respond in the PD?

I think that some of them disguise themselves in here.
A good guess of who Larry Bird is would be "BulletProof" because he can take all of the attacks on him or maybe even "Hicks" (remember Hick from French Lick?)

....Donnie Walsh is "TheSauceMaster" because he is always cooking up juicy deals

...Artest is of course "Beast23" (until he changes his uni to #15)

... don't let "JONeal7" fool you with his pretense to be in love with JO (how else does he know all about "himself" but to be the real thing?) GOOD disguise!

...."Uncle BucK" is Reggie (Uncle Reggie...Uncle Buck...get it?)

All kidding aside, I really do wonder who gets on here or on the Star board to see what we are all thinking. I wish one of them would get on here and say, for example, "Hi Guys, this is Al Harrington and this is what is really going down."

Oh to imagine....;)

Oh. I see people go up to Larry and Donnie asking for autographs during the games. One of us should go down there and just plain tell them about the message board.

Easy.

Just took a full screen capture of my browser, which I then opened in Photoshop, darkened and added soft lighting. Cut out Donnie's head from a press conference picture, again added soft lighting, transposed on the PD screen by putting it on its own layer and reducing the layer opacity to 45%. Patched over the pre-existing text on the post-it and left the text field active so I can change what it says if I want to [same for Donnie's thought bubble]. Resized to 400x320 px.

I think some of you are underestimating the power of print.

Think about it: we are all Pacer fans and we all feel a dearth of print information to feed the craving for our favorite subject.

This is also Rick/Larry/Donnie's favorite subject, and after Monteith every other day and an AP or ESPN article every three weeks, and maybe a crumb or two on Pacers.com each week, there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE TO READ except Pacersdigest.com!

They all read it.

If they don't they should.

Why? Because we tell it like it is? Haw!

I think that most of the players in the NBA have laptops and surf the net, but when they visit sports forums they see 95% of us don't know what we are talking about.

We discuss rumors they know are not true, we say things about them and their buddies they don't like. We suggest things that they know won't work. So what it boils down to, is we just aren't creditable enough for them to bother with.

I bet most of them have tried out forums, but then some know it all that doesn't know anything wants to argue with something they've said.

And how about most sites like the Star, and it's still one of the better ones, that have the troll's and smack talkers, etc.?

You disagree with me? Well why don't most of us post on other sites? Because we can't stand those sites is why? So why should someone that really knows whats going on come on here or elsewhere, and post?

Okay, this may make some of you giddy, maybe even change your mind...

Welcome to the Dawg's House; The Remy Report message board. If you enjoy discussing all things RemDawg, Red Sox, baseball, or if you are an all around sports nut then you'll feel right at home.

You never know when a noteable personality will show up for a chat or throw out their thoughts in a message board thread. Over the past year we have had chats with Theo Epstein, Tom Werner, Peter Gammons, Gil Santos, Sean McDonough, and Curt Schilling. Curt is actually a regular reader of our board and occasionally contributes. Click on the link below and join us today! http://p222.ezboard.com/btheremyreport9033

Jerry

Jerry Remy is a former MLB player, and current NESN broadcaster of Red Sox games. Those are his own message boards from his own site. As you can see, some notables have checked out the site. This may be due to the connection to Jerry, but I know that Curt checked in because he actually wanted to know fans' opinions of him before he waived the no-trade clause in his contract this offseason to come to Boston.

Okay, some of you don't know these guys, but I'll introduce them to you.
Theo Epstein=Red Sox GM
Tom Werner=Part-Owner of Red Sox
Peter Gammons=ESPN analyst/writer
Gil Santos=New England sports radio anchor
Sean McDonough=NESN Red Sox broadcaster
Curt Schilling=Current Red Sox pitcher

Here's the link to the page I was on.

Well, this is probably somewhat off-topic:

Even if Pacers players don't surf the web, baseball players do & that's intriguing. Here's proof of the Red Sox players before an away game in the visitors' clubhouse:
http://cache.gettyimages.com/comp/51031798.jpg?x=x&dasite=MS_GINS&ef=2&ev=1&dareq=AF261705DA77191D876D67AFECF70FBDA9C30E9B9B11 4CE8

Baseball players evidently have more access to computers than do basketball ones.

Most likely true.

The first two years of Conseco, Eddie Bird managed our suite. In conversations we had, I had mentioned the Star forum. From the impression I got, Larry was not exactly computer literate, and could care less what others thought about his players or his coaching abilities.

As for Donnie, I doubt he would put his hands on a computer. He's high level, and if he wanted some information that might be gained via the Web, he would instruct an Admin to see what they could come up with.

Most high-end corporate personnel do not spend much, if any time at all on PCs. Those that do use it for Email and organizing/scheduling. They even carry around Blackberries to help them in that pursuit.

If they want anything more than that, they have their corporation's techies set up favorites linking them to copetitor's web sites or financial news, for example.

So, really there is no way that Larry or Donnie either one would soil their hands with our forum. The only way they would get the info would be second hand through acquintances or Admins.

I will say that the fan website for the Chicago White Sox that I frequent (http://whitesoxinteractive.com/) is often visited by minor media folks and mentioned on local talk radio. More recently, the marketing division of the sox actually asked some questions about past marketing campaigns etc...

So it's obvious that a fan site can get in the loop. Granted, the site is more established and has a larger base of members, but it can happen. I think franchises are smart to notice organized sites such as these. What better way to get a taste of your fan base?

Uuuhhh let's not get over the top here :D

Trademark "issues" are covered by "fair use" rights, we do not pretend to be, or represent, which makes it a lot easier.

Copyright issues also know something as fair use, amount of distribution and origins play a role there as well as the charachter of the distirbution.

And I am still considering changes as well in that fact, to more "comply" with those "fair use" rules.

But I will get back to that at a later stage.

I don't think so.

"Fair use" applies only to copyright (and it really doesn't apply in America anymore at all, but that's another story). Trademarks can be lost by failing to protect them, so companies are much more likely to drag you into court for a trademark issue. Google on "mikerowesoft" to see what I mean.

Ok u got me guys, im actually Reggie

Reggie would not have that avitar.:shudder:

If you are Reggie and you're using that avitar to throw us off, please change it. I'd even settle for Suave's old avitar.

I think it's great. Crack up everytime I see it. Of course this shows my mentality but who cares.

I bet some of the players come lurk here every once in a while. I'll have you notice that we had a discussion earlier in the season about how AJ would be much better if he would be a little more agressive, and ever since he's been driving to the basket more, setting up the other guys.

I really doubt people like DW and LB check the boards, but I'd be willing to bet a paycheck that people from fan relations and advertising and such scour this board regularly. This is a freaking goldmine for people who want to gauge fan reactions and opinions. Here they have hardcore Pacers fans who are openly expressing their opinion without reservation. It's really hard to get that much fan input for free through alternate means.
