Hey guys,

some of you might remember I was travelling to America to see the Pacers Vs Clippers game.

Although I was strongly dissapointed Granger didn't play, I did have the best time of my life. We booked tickets 4 rows behind the bench. I sat 2 rows behind Larry Bird which was unreal.

While the team was shooting around i took hundreds of photos. I got my hat signed by T.J Ford, Maceo Baston and Jarrett Jack. Maceo and Jarrett were very nice to me, I explained how I was from Australia and they both offerered to have a photo with me.

Danny came out after everyone else, and i asked him if he was playing and he said he was still hurt. Well... I counted he hit 28/30 3 pointers in practice so he didnt look to hurt to me.

When he finished shooting around and came to me, I was shaking so much and my heart was pounding. I got him to sign my authentic Jersey and asked for a photo. He was extremely nice to me and we chatted for a minute or two.

I was really scared as to weather Danny would be nice as I have admired him for years, and wondered if he just walked past and didnt wanna talk to me, I would think totally different of him. But I couldnt be happier the way he treated me and I've come back loving him.

The only player that was a touch rude was Troy Murphy, But I didnt fuss over that to much.

Some of you might know my brother Tyson Beck. Does work for the Lakers. Well we booked to see 3 games. Lal v Min, Lal v Dal, Lal v GS and the Lakers gave us free tickets to Lal V Phi.

Now of course they set us up to meet Kobe Bryant on the only game they lost against Philly where Iggy hit the game winner. So me and my bro thought Kobe wouldnt be in the mood for talking.

Even I have disliked Kobe's personallity and game sometimes. But meeting him, he was just so nice and such a gentlemen. It really changed my view on him. He talked to us in the locker room for around 5 minutes.

Anyway thought I would just say how my holiday was. It was a dream come true going to a pacers game, and was really happy they won.

Here are some Photos:

Dude, that is sweet that you got your jersey signed and a picture of him doing it. You can frame that thing and put that picture in the corner. What a great memory. Thanks for sharing.

Wow this is really awesome. I have always been a fan of Kobe (I didn't like MJ and I don't like LeBron) and it is really cool that you got to meet him. I would recommend posting more pics if you get the chance, I am sure they would not bore us.

Sorry that Murph was sort of rude, he was probably just busy thinking about the tanning business he wants to start back in Indy.

And you got to see a last-second one-point victory.

Not a bad little trip.

What I love is the fact that you got your photo with arguably one of the greatest players of his day (maybe even of all-time) and a photo with your favorite Pacer (Granger) and it is the photo with Granger that you cherish the most.

It would be like back in the day someone getting a photo with Reggie and one with Jordan and being more proud of the Reggie Photo.

True Pacers fan, I salute you.

Thanks for sharing! I'm glad you got to meet the players.

I definitely remember seeing you and your brother at the game (and with a blonde lady, I think?).

Actually, I make a cameo in your Danny picture.

Yes, I was certainly more nervous meeting Granger then Kobe, which does say something.

I was also really lucky as Reggie is my all time favourite Pacer. He was commentating the LAL v GS game, so i was able to see him in person which was unreal.

Troy Murphy had a black eye, so I'm guessing that's why he didnt want a photo, But other pacers fans at the arena agreed he was very rude at the time to them aswell.

Yeh man, i remember you :). I thought at the game you were from pacersdigest. I think we had a convo in the toilet aswell haha.

Wasn't me :). I was a Pacers fan in disguise, so you wouldn't have noticed me.

I was amazed by how much attention Larry drew at the game. Granted it's LA and the Lakers play at Staples, but there were more prominent celebrities in the arena and none of them drew 1/5th the attention that Larry did. There were a lot of people in my section taking photos and pointing him out.

Are you really tall or is Maceo just shorter than I thought? He doesn't tower over you like I figured an NBA player would most average sized people. Same with the Kobe pick, dude is listed at 6'6'' and you don't seem too far from that.

Thanks for sharing the pictures and your experience. Sorry to hear Murphy was a little rude. I'm sure a lot of it probably had to do with his black eye as he probably didn't want the picture to pop up on blogs and message boards.

Most of the NBA players that I have met have been pretty nice and accomodating for the most part. I think a lot of it depends on the circumstances and where you meet them. It's one thing to meet a player at a game or an autograph session rather than seeing them out at a restaurant, shopping, with their family, etc. If you're respectful and show some courtesy, typically the player will extend the same your way.

My wife actually ran into Jeff Foster earlier today at a restaurant at the Fashion Mall eating lunch. He was getting ready to leave and she was waiting to be seated and was about to say something and instead smiled at him and he then smiled and nodded at her, almost in appreciation of her not making a deal out of seeing an NBA player.

As far as player heights, don't you know that NBA teams lie? Haha Just about every NBA player is a different weight or height than what their NBA bio states. A guy like TJ Ford is listed at 6 feet and is really maybe 5'9 whereas a guy like LeBron is listed at 250lbs and is probably more like 265-270 range.

Troy was rude? I'm surprised. He's the kind of guy I'd expect willing to get a picture with any Pacer fan on the road. Maceo was a little rude to me in Philadelphia this season.

Im not that tall. Seeing them in real life is like wow these guys are huge, but yeh when I saw the photo's of me and maceo, and kobe. I thought wow, I'm not that much smaller then these guys. Exception though Maceo is bending down.

Troy was rude? I'm surprised.
Yehh, although he did sign my hat, as soon as I started talking to him he just ignored me and walked off. Which has never happened to me when talking to somebody famous or a proffesional athlete. So I don't know how much it happens but yeh it was a first for me so I thought it was pretty rude. Defiently seeing as I saved up $7,000 to practically see that one pacers game.

Love the story and the photos. For those of us that see the team regularly, even close up, it's not the same. On one hand yes we are lucky, etc. But on the other hand you have more invested in that specific moment.

I go to games. You had an adventure. It's different. Now I want to have an adventure too. :(
:D

Gotta be honest Imawhat, I don't recognize you in that photo. Please tell me you are farther away or partially obstructed. Otherwise I got problems. :)

When I was at the second away game in Philadelphia Maceo was a little rude to me. I called him over and he's was like "give me a sec" and he was just standing there drinking Gatorade when everyone was out shooting around before the game. Other than that they always are willing to chat with me before the game which makes me happy.

Of all the times I've been around Troy, he's been nothing but friendly. Maybe it did have to do with his face being injured. I wouldn't want my photo taken looking like that.

Yeah I'd say he's one of the most nicest people out there and no player is happy when they need stitches on their face. They throw a towel when they're called out to get them on.
