This is a down year for the lottery, so there's not much chance of getting a good pick.

Am I the only one who enjoys watching the Pacers more without Granger? It's not a knock against Danny, but he's proven to be a stud, whereas when he's sitting out we get to see what everyone else can do. Jack, Murphy, Quis - all have looked like studs now that they've been given bigger roles with the team.

Pacers just came out of the tunnel. Granger is not in the shootaround. Might be getting taped up. Might have decided his foot isn't there yet. Or he might come out later.

Sadly I forgot to bharge my phone. So I've got about 15 minutes of juice before it kicks.

Well, we're losing to a Clippers team that has no star power right now, and all youngsters. Pretty embarrassing.

And why we didn't buy a second round pick last draft and take a flyer on DeAndre Jordan is unfortunate. The dude has the tools to be a stud in this league.

As an IU fan, I'd have to say his play got a lot worse once he got injured. I think it was more of his wrist than "sandbagging." Guy is on fire tonight.

I always got the feeling he overplayed that. Badly. You'd know if he was playing through a lot of pain, and he didn't really indicate that (he'd protect that, NBA lottery pick he was, if he was.) That and halfway through the season it was revealed that he was just keeping the brace on because it had become a familiar feel for him.

I'll never get the EJ backers. He was a good kid, one of the only good kids on the team. That's what I appreciate. But I have no doubt that he sandbagged his college career, and given the economics of the system, I guess it's hard to blame him. Just frustrating as a fan, knowing what he could have been and realizing he wasn't worth nearly the trouble the team went through to get him.

I'll agree to disagree about the injury, that's fine. We were an absolute mess last year, so maybe he didn't give it his all and like you said he did have to protect his future. I'm not sure I would have given my all under the circumstances at IU last year, either. The more interviews I hear from guys that were in the know, the more I question how they even got the wins that they did last year.

Coop
03-07-2009, 11:29 PM
Gordon had a wrist injury for over 1/2 the season last year. It was obvious he didn't have the touch on his shot later in the season. I don't see how that constitutes as "sandbagging". His effort was always there, but the injury really hindered his ability to knock down the 3 and handle the ball.

In response to Anthems question, yes. I would love for EJ to be wearing the blue and gold. I was actually thinking the other day as to how we could possibly get him to come back to Indiana after his rookie contract is up. I don't know how that would be possible though.

But... But...But... according to Larry

If you think the Pacers would be a better team w/ Travis as our main PG over TJ than you should never ever talk about basketball ever again.
TJ Ford's teams have never missed the playoffs & he hasn't played on the Lakers or any team like that. I hate how people on this board hate on TJ.
He is why Murphy is having his best year ever & to a degree why Danny was as well.
Danny would be good w/o TJ, but you can never have enough ball handlers that can get to the hole. What that does to the team on defense is more than you understand I guess.

By the way, why do Ford and Jack insist on passing up LAYUPS to kick the ball out? Why?
No kidding, it seems they are right at the rim and decide to kick it out for some unknown reason, plenty of time left.

Of course we do miss a lot of open layups.

I love watching the heart of this group of guys... They really want to make the playoffs.. and I am pullin for em..

I think if they can fight their way into the playoffs, they deserve to be there regardless of their record... In my eyes ,It shows alot of character..

If so, we better use that before they can attempt a shot.

Thankfully, defense prevailed and the Pacers have just had a 2-1 west trip. :) Damn near 3-0. Good for them!

That layup would have been blocked easily.. it was a good find for Rush in the corner, just didn't drop.

Well, they could have easily called a foul there like last game.

It didn't look to be a foul. But neither did the previous game.

We're probably lucky to go 1-1 on last second plays.

Go Pacers.

Not if he had just gone up and laid it in on the left side of the rim, but instead he was searching for someone at the line as he had been doing all game long.

yeah tj breaks down the d. he may not always shoot good, but that was the good move. the question is was there time for Rush to pass? I guess Obie says shoot the open 3 so that is what he did. like you said it just didn't go.

great job! I for one thought lottery was for sure our future when Danny went out, but we've gained ground & grown at the same time.
tough game against Utah to come.

When Rush's jumper hit the rim there was 1 second on the shot clock... there was no time to pass.

the pacers were down all game.
i think they trailed by 9 w/ about 6 minutes to go. i could be wrong.
we came back & took what i think was our 1st lead of the 2nd half on a JJ and 1 w/ less than a minute to go.
we got the ball back, but failed to score.
(the play were tj kicked to rush for an open 3 you been reading about)
that left the clips 6 seconds to score down by 1 after a timeout.
gordon drove (I think) & Daniels made a good play forcing the miss.
I was watching online so my screen wasn't clear.

the moral is...
we were down all game, nobody besides maybe JJ played well, but we stuck to it & somehow pulled it out at the end.

Man, sounds really exciting. Too bad it wasn't broadcasted, I would've stayed up all night just to watch it...Great that Pacers were able to come back though!!
I'm really impressed by the Pacers' effort lately. Dating back to the Nuggets, Kings (I would like to say Blazers but unfortunately we lost that one), every time the opponents made some big shots to cut our lead, we always find ways to score and push them back. The Pacers are really some contenders.
Even without their top two scorers, they fought and never gave up. I think it'd be interesting to see what it'd be like after Danny comes back.
