In 2011 all present pacer contacts with exception of Granger are over. OK who is on the roster in 2011?

My picks:

Very Likely

Granger

Likely
Jack
Rush
Murphy

Unlikley
Dunleavy
Ford
Rasho
Quis
Graham
Diener

Never say never
Tinsley

What about Granger? I think Dunleavy will still be a Pacer, since Bird and JOB both consider him our second best player and a core player in the rebuilding of the Pacers. I think Granger, Dunleavy, Hibbert, and Rush will still be here, and possibly Murphy since he's #5 rebounder in NBA and has something like 30+ double doubles. Those five plus maybe Jack and several rookies acquired from the draft and trades.

Actually, both Hibbert and Rush will be in the fourth year of their rookie contracts (though it's a team option). Also, you'll have the 2009, 2010, & 2011 draft picks.

Almost certain:

Granger, Hibbert, Rush, 2009 Draft pick, 2010 Draft Pick, 2011 Draft Pick

Likely:

Jack, Foster

Maybe one, but no more than one:

Dunleavy, Ford, Murphy

Got a shot:

McRoberts

Really slim chance, but stranger things have happened:

Travis Diener

Definitely no chance:

Rasho, Daniels, Graham, Baston, Tinsley

Just to be clear, are you asking who will be on the roster at the start of the 2010-2011 season or in the start of the 2011-2012 season ( when Foster, MurpLeavy and Ford's contract comes off the book )?

It's pretty clear he means 2011-2012.

I'm not so sure Bird will be around so I'm not even going to guess who will be on the team.

I hope that Bird is still here. He and Morway are so good together. I hope we lock up Morway for a long, long time. He seems to be the one orchestrating the money side of these deals. The finances have improved significantly and thus allowed us to have more options in trading from a basketball perspective. Larry seems to be a logical guy and a good judge of basketball talent. (Yes, Shawne Williams HAS the talent.) I have really liked his draft picks other than the Stanko trade. That was terrible IMO, but there may have been more to that than just basketball.

My idea as to who will be with us:

Danny Granger
Brandon Rush
Roy Hibbert
2009 First Rounder
2010 First Rounder
2010 Second Rounder
2010 Second Rounder
2011 First Rounder
2011 Second Rounder
Mike Dunleavy
Jeff Foster
Troy Murphy
Josh McRoberts
Brandon Bass
Stanko Barac

The Second Rounders tend to get two year deals, therefore the 2010 and 2011 second rounders will be with us. I think Dun, Murph, and Foster all get smaller deals to provide veteran leadership and solid second team depth. They will not be making anywhere near what their deals are now. I could see us signing McRoberts this off-season to a two or three year deal as well. Brandon Bass is my big off-season acquisition. And YES, I am kidding about Stanko.

Hibbert and Danny are locks.

Rush is likely. Resigning Murph or Dun is possible

The rest most likely will be gone.

Granger
Jack
Rush
Hibbert
McRoberts

Dunleavy and Murphy could be around if they're willing to go to the bench and take big paycuts. I think Foster will retire when his extension is up.

I kinda wish Daniels could be included in the Likely list, because he has been playing great this season. Would hate to see him go to another team and tear it up inside.

I would hope that with 2 1st round draft picks to be chosen between now and the 2011-2012 Offseason that we would have found our future PG and PF by then. Otherwise, I can see some decent FAs that we can sign to fill our needs.

At the start of the 2011-2012 season, I think that our core would likely be made up of Granger/BRush/Hibbert/2009 and 2010 1st round pick. Dunleavy maybe a hold over if he could be had for cheap, but I think that Murphy and Foster's legs would be gone by then and therefore would not be as effective.

Bird's going to offer the max to Kaman, and offer Hinrich a long-term deal.

As for the question of the topic, I think Granger's the only lock to remain on the team for the 2011-2012 season. Perhaps Foster too, since Bird will probably let him retire here.

I think that's the problem. The rookies that do develop into solid players will almost universally have their options picked up by their current teams.

Sorry.....I meant back problems for Foster. By the 2011-2012 season, when Foster will be 34ish....given the back problems that he has now....I wouldn't want to renew his contract at that point....I can't see his recurring Back issues that are affecting him on/off now getting any better as he gets older.

Sort of the same thing with Murphy.....I would prefer to not resign a 31+ year old player that isn't very althletic that relies heavily on his jumpshot to a contract.

If the Price is right will be back: Maceo, Jack, Graham, McBob

Should be traded: Tinsley

I agree....to a certain extent. Looking at the list of PG FAs available next season....Jack and Sessions appear to be the best ones available. Assuming that we don't draft a PG ( none of which really interest me ), resigning Jack MAYBE the best option that we have for next season.

IMHO....I have no problem trying to resign Jack and have him as a backup PG/SG....the only real concern is the way that we use him. I only want to use the Thunder/Lightning combo on a situational basis....and not a regular basis that JO'B tends to prefer.

I think it's 50/50 at best that Jack is a Pacer in the 2009-2010 season. Other teams will offer as much or more than we will and I could easily see him bolt Indy.

And he was trying to say that his legs were already gone.

You're correct sir.

Well, I see alot of potential in this guy. I don't think he'll ever be a starter on a SMART team, but he will be an above average PG in 2 years.
I think that Jack would be the perfect Backup Combo PG/SG on any team.....I just don't like the way that we ( or in particular JO'B ) uses him. I don't think that we should heavily rely on him to handle the ball for too long SPECIFICALLY at the end of games and for him to be used as a SG more then he is used as a PG. Unfortunately, JO'B tends to rely on him too much at the end of games ( when he tends to cough up the ball ) and tends to pair him with the likes of Ford and ( to a lesser degree ) Diener ( which I don't like ).

If I felt that we had other PG options to fill the PG spot to play next to or behind Ford ( unfortunately there isn't too many decent PG options we have next season ), I would say that I would choose not to resign Jack IF JO'B was still our coach ( I hate that we use Small Ball way too much and Jack is the best Combo PG/SG that fits JO'Bs offense ). But since there are very little "decent to solid" PG options in the upcoming Offseason, we may have no choice but to resign him....whether JO'B is our Coach or not.

Is there a single person out there, besides Jose Slaughter, who thinks my posts in this thread are racist? Just curious.

Yours? No.

TheDoddage's joke is tired and in somewhat poor taste, though it actually implies that Bird is racist, rather than being racist itself.

It seems to me to be too important and sensitive of a topic to make weak jokes about. That topic simply goes nowhere good, and some can get understandably tetchy about it.

That's all that matters to me. Thanks for clearing it up.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that you are racist, but many of your comments do lack taste.

Consider this constructive criticism, and not a hit at you. I do not hate you and/or dislike you. At times you can come off as offensive towards some posters.

This is something we all should work on, and try not to be so tense with each other. The problem here is that we all have an open stage for our opinions, and though many of our opinions differ, we tend to think that one particular view of something is the be-all-end-all. When someone else throws in what they think, all hell breaks loose.

I think if we all were to work on this, things wouldn't go as far as this, and everyone would not be accused of being something they aren't intending to be.

We are sports fans. These are trying times. It is easy to get ahead of ourselves. I love you all.

That is all.

Technically, it implies that Bird thinks the fanbase is racist, not that he is a racist himself.

And that's all I'll say about that.

Well, that depends on whether you are inferring that he is implying that Bird's supposed predilection for white players is due to a personal preference, or if the implication is that Bird thinks he's giving the people (fanbase) what they want.

I inferred the former, while you inferred the latter.

(See? This conversation only goes stupid places...though this is one of the more benign stupid places this topic has gone.)

Sigh, you guys takes things too seriously. I was simply REFERENCING the kind of joke that was in my post, and there was nothing meant by it. Let's just move on.

That's the understatement of the year. This place has the sense of humor of a nursing home.

Thats always the responce when guys that makes these types of comments get called out for them.

I was just joking, you should lighten up

I have no problem with shaking my head, rolling my eyes & over looking stupid comments in general. That's what you get on a public message board sometimes.

However there are times, & this is one of them, when I'm going to stop ignoring the ignorant & say enough!

Maybe its just my age. I grew up in the late 60's when this way of thinking was tolerated.

It wasn't right then, & its certainly not right, now.

Right or wrong I've pretty much had my fill of this so called, "joking". If you think I'm going to set by, shake my head, roll my eyes & over look this garbage anymore, you're wrong.

This board deserves better than what you guys are giving.

The comment that you responded to was completely innocent.

You were in the wrong for reacting to nothing.
