Now that Granger is injured and Dunleavy as well, what pick in the lottery do you think the Pacers will get?

PaceBalls

Definately top 5

theres no way to know. its not done by record. We could get the 1st, we could get 14.

I really could see the NBA throw the Pacers a major bone this season.

Realistically, I don't see us getting any higher than #6. The "top" 5 teams have quite a lead on us.

Number of wins:
Kings - 11
Wizards - 12
Clippers - 13
Thunder - 13
Grizzlies - 15
Timberwolves - 18
Warriors - 19
Raptors - 21
Pacers - 22
Knicks - 22

We're probably going to have to do really awful to get a top 3 pick. Although Chicago and Portland have had some nice luck the past two years...

Definately top 5

I don't see it. There are still too many really bad teams we would have to catch first. I'm gonna say 7-8. Getting to #6 would probably be our best case scenario. We're about 8-9 games ahead of the worst 5 teams.

Edit: Shade already covered it..I didnt read the whole thread.

Is this coming from Shade or NPH? I'm much more likely to take NPH's word. :D

Completely off topic, but when he had the brand in the brothel I think I almost p*ssed my pants....

As far as our lottery pick goes, we'll probably catch fire without Danny or Dun and fall one game short of the playoffs and end up somewhere between 11 and 13.....

Wouldn't that fit our season thus far?

Based on present record and the fact that we have Granger and DunJr out, and considering Foster's back and Quis' health history, I believe we will continue to lose ground in the standings and gain ground on a higher draft selection.

Best possible - 5th

Worst possible - 8th

Hoping that ball bounces our way - 1st, 2nd or 3rd

We'll finish at #8, but we'll get a top-3 pick.

Reading this thread is odd... it's like people forgot there was a lottery.

I'm just hoping for a number one pick thanks to the lottery. We've turned a corner. We deserve it. I think we'll finish between 6-9.

My wife (who never careas about sports in general) just walked by and said, "Well what if they trade for another 1st round lottery pick and our 1st round pick in the lottery and we end up with two in the top five the way those ping pong balls can go" ? I told her that if that ever happens I'd take the family to the Bahamas for the summer.

At best first, but probably sixth. Brandon Jennings is projected to go sixth right now, and that wouldn't be too bad of a pick up.

Yea but Stern likes Chicago and Portland. He will make sure the Pacers balls are just a little bit bigger so they cannot get sucked out of their hole.

Yes, but given the lottery and how it works, some of the answers are a near impossibility. In other words, I'm 99% sure some of the answers are from people who have no clue.

Exactly. You've got 30 games to go and a list of teams that might not go 10-20 in that span. Bad as it might get, the Pacers aren't going 0-30. You are looking at a max "gain" of 5 games I'd guess. I mean just look at the Last 10 records of all the worst teams. Not a lot of 8-2 in that group.

So it's MAYBE you pass the T'Woves, Warriors and Raps, ending at 6th. My guess is 7th and obviously not winning the lottery.

Then the Pacers get either Henderson, Blair or Teague. Cross your fingers for 38 wins next year and ride out the final dreadful year of rebuild before good stuff starts to pan out and fall into place (contracts getting short, youth getting better).

I wonder if Jennings could fall to 7th being out of mind and producing low numbers in Europe.

Which they wouldn't.

Irony of all this is that the team is likely to be better right now getting Roy, Rush and McBob more playing time.

Why do you say this? I didn't see one aspect wrong in the thread.

You have fourteen LOTTERY teams, teams with chances at the top 3 picks. If no team behind you gets one of those picks then you stay in the same draft spot as before. People call being drafted in the top 14 to be a lottery pick.

Some people have mentioned that the Pacers could win the lottery, most don't think so. What's the issue?

I don't see the issue either. Either you get in the top three or you end up where you deserve for the most part. I just have a feeling this team is going to get hot. Travis Diener FTW!!!

I would love, LOVE, to get Gerald Henderson. He is the type of player who I think will make a better pro than college player. And he is a very good college player.

I do not care I would love to have 6-8 and be able to snag Thabeet just to trade his rights. I Believe this is the draft for the G position. Holiday, Jennings, Warren take a chance on one of them.

I think we've played ourselves out of the #6 pick now. I'm thinking #9 or so at this point.

I'm really starting to want Jordan Hill. Wonder where he'll end up going.

I want the 6th to 8th pick.......the more lottery balls...the better.....but I'm guessing that we and every other team around us is playing.....we will bet the 9th or 10th spot......right where we always end up....in no-man's land.

But to be fair....given the way this draft is going.....if you don't land a top 3 pick, there doesn't appear to be a sure-fire top 10 pick that would make a huge impact. IF the Pacers scouts do their job.....it's entirely possible that the team can land a player at the 9th to 14th spot that is as good as one that is in the 4th to 8th spots.

Do you think if we land a higher pick we could move Tinsley + the higher pick for a filler & lower pick to another team.

Wow, I'm glad you're not the GM. That's an absolutely horrific, terrible, disgusting, and retched idea. Ugh.

Why don't we just offer Danny Granger with Tinsley. Someone will do it then! :hmm:

Yuck.
