I thought this was interesting. Statistically, Kobe Bryant is a Pacer. Also remember that Kobe has been in the league a lot longer than Danny. Danny can really be a star!

Kobe Bryant
G GS MPG FG% 3p% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG
30 30 35.3 0.473 0.330 0.869 1.2 4.2 5.4 4.2 1.5 0.4 2.60 2.30 26.3

Danny Granger

I don't get it.

Granger is putting up fantastic numbers....but didn't we already know that?

How is Kobe "practically a pacer?"

Granger is having a great "fantasy" year because there isn't a consistent 2nd option on the Pacers to share the stats. This year, Kobe's numbers are slightly "down" to Granger's level because Kobe has a lot more help than years past.

Let's just stop this while it's somewhat tame.

I like Granger a ton. I'm thrilled that he's a Pacer. He's playing better than I ever imagined, I'm thrilled we locked him up, and I hope he stays with the franchise his entire career.

That said:

We'd have won a lot of those close games if we'd had Kobe instead of Danny.

Hulk welcome to the board. U have 18 posts and all! But keep in mind Kobe has performed well in the playoffs and Danny has been there once! Players get their status and $ in the playoffs!

All I was really saying was that Grangers numbers are very similar to a superstar like Kobe and that he is still very early in his career.

With the system Kobe plays in and the support that he has, Danny would be fortunate to have stats anywhere near as impressive as Kobe. Also, keep in mind that Kobe is often not even in the game in the fourth quarter after the Lakers have blown out their opponents. Given time to develop, Granger might well develop into a player that is the equivalent of Pippen if Kobe were to be equated to Jordan (a whole other debate, with Jordan having the edge due to the extremely physical nature of the league's defense during his career, the "love" of the officials notwithstanding).

Danny is only close to Joe Jhonson not kobe, I don't like kobe but he is one of the best players ever you can't compare Granger with him

Despite the Pacer's not having a great second option like the Lakers, Granger still manages to take less shots per game than Kobe.

I can only imagine how good Danny would be if he had teammates to take defensive pressure off of him.
