Trivia Question: Where did the team name "Hornets" originate from?
Answer: The Hornets' franchise began play during the 1988-89 NBA season as the Charlotte Hornets, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, where they were located until the end of the 2001-02 NBA season. The name derived from the city's fierce resistance to British occupation during the Revolutionary War, which prompted Lord General Cornwallis to refer to it as "a veritable nest of hornets." The name had been used for Charlotte teams before; the city's minor league baseball teams had been called the Hornets from 1901 to 1972; there was a short-lived team in the short-lived World Football League; and NCAA basketball's Charlotte 49ers and Davidson Wildcats play annually for the Hornets' Nest Trophy.

I think this one could be ugly after how the Hornets looked on Christmas. They'll be ready. And CP3 could have a field day against our defense.

From JOB: No T.J. tonight. Danny is ready to go. Jack will start and Travis will be available to play "enough."

Also, Dun now battling the viral infection and missed practice the past couple of days, but was able to practice for 20 minutes on Wed/Thurs in 5-5 half court/full court break. Optimistic to see Dun going 100% on offense and defense.

Let's hope we enjoy the game.

At the end of the 1st qtr the score is 29-27 Pacers. Both teams have 7 assists with Paul having 6 of the Hornets 7 assists. The guy is just unbelieveable.

Both teams shooting .500 with the Pacers having 5 more rebounds.

How about Roy diving for the ball.

They are the Hornets announcers. NBA TV uses feeds from other broadcasts.

I love that from Hibbert! Loose ball on the floor and the 7'2 center dives for it and calls a timeout. I can't say how much I love that.

Well, he's in there taking up room, but I couldn't say alot more than that. Energetic...that's good. And hasn't fouled incessantly...also an improvement.

That's game.

Didn't West beat the Pacers at the buzzer a few years ago?

Wow, another loss at home on the final possession. This is killing me as a fan. If only we could win these close games. I don't understand why Hibbert wasn't in at the end of the game, or why McRoberts didn't get more minutes. He's been playing well lately.

How about tanking? Its about time. We will always be on the verge of making the playoffs and some stinky picks

JOB would never explaing that. they need to tank the season at least we could have some hope in the taking a nice draft pick

Hire Mark Jackson or Avery Johnson.

I don't think we could be losing a whole lot more than we already are.

Pacers don't have a great track record with top-five picks anyway, as far as acquiring superstars.

Tank to get who? Even then it's not guaranteed.

I say we did well with roy and Hibbert, but we need a lower draft pick like Blake Griffin

Unfortunately for us, no one we could get in the draft is going to solve our problems. We aren't getting a star player out of next years draft. I'm not even convinced Griffin is a franchise type player. It's just a bad year to have a good pick.

Wow, hadn't read a game thread in a couple weeks . . . you guys are completely demoralized! Obie sounds like the devil.

I can understand with the recent losses, and how close a lot of them were, but geeze . . . depressing over here!

Griffin is a beast. Imagine him playing with Roy on the front court
the line up would look like this
pg tj
sg dunleavy
sf Danny
pf Griffing
C Roy
now you tell me that that is not a good team.

Well when you lose 4 of your last 5 either by one basket or in OT.. it can get pretty demoralizing.

Either Griffin or Hill could be that secondary top-tier talent we're currently missing while doing it at the PF position. James Harden has superstar potential as a SG. Any of the three would add a lot to our future.

Coop
12-28-2008, 09:37 PM
That's not a good team.

TJ isn't the answer at PG and our perimeter defense would still be supervising lay up drills night in and night out. Griffin is an excellent athlete but hasn't shown the desire to play to his potential on defense. He can be a great shot blocker, but he hasn't applied himself yet.
