Anyone have any experience regarding "the pill"...where it was not effective? doesn't have to be direct experiences...but any and all are welcome...know any instances where it did not get the job done?

i'm pretty sure the red pill was for knowledge. the answer is out there, bellisimo, and it's looking for you, and it will find you if you want it to.

Antibiotics can lessen the affects. It does not completely kick in till after a month of taking the pill.

Biggest reason is when she forgets to take one (at the same time each day, no less) - and studies show that at as many as 2 out of 3 women forget at least once a month.

Anything that messes up her system can lessen its effectiveness too - lots of stress or an illness. Tough for the pill to be effective if you're throwing up or have diarrhea because of the flu.

Studies have shown that anywhere from 8-20% of women taking the pill get pregnant - the difference between real life where somebody might forget something and clinical studies with a 1% failure rate where everything is controlled.

Smoking is a big factor too.

I think alcohol can make the pill less effective.. Kinda ironic..

Forgetting to take it even once can be a big factor.

I have a friend who fell pregnant after she had the contaceptive implant so I guess nothing is 'fool proof' for lack of a better term.

The pill can also raise blood pressure. Each woman reacts differently to the pill. There is no 100% safeguard on the selves. The only certain way to not have a baby is well....not have "sex".

My hesitation is with the side effects they cause. I'm not a fan of messing with hormonal balance in the body.

Something like 5 to 10 percent of women have strong adverse reactions to being on the pill. As in "grumpy-like-you're-seven-months-pregnant-all-the-time" adverse reactions.

I was more concerned about the increased risks of blood clots (thrombosis, strokes) and such.
